- Minnesota State Senator Nicole Mitchell was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of burglarizing a Detroit Lakes home, according to police. Mitchell has not yet been formally charged.
Charge the "Good Public Servant" like a normal criminal.
The burglary is not "alleged".
Not only is she a current state senator, but she was a former meteorologist, and Air National Guard Lieutenant Colonel. I cant possibly imagine why she would burglarize a house. 🤯

I don't think she went there to steal... but may be a "disgruntled neighbor". I guess that's how you would word it.

She didn’t burglarize a house. She went to check in on her step-mother with Alzheimer’s and that relative called the police claiming she was robbing them.
She was trying to get some items from her late father that her step-mother had and stop communications with Nicole, so unfortunately she got desperate and broke into the stepmother's basement and got caught soon after, police statement was released
It’s interesting that her political party is never mentioned. However, if she were a Republican the title would be Republican State Senator…. I’m sick of it.

Why was she arrested if she’s not charged?
She was set up.
There may be enough evidence for a serious enough crime to justify an arrest but other details could change exactly what crime/s she'll be charged with.

Because police arrest. District attorneys charge. Two different things.
They arrested her on suspicion of burglary. The charges are generally up to the DA when serious. And also depends on the cops supervisor, ect. She was in the house, that's enough to arrest her there lol if she entered the wrong place, that's one thing but they have to verify that.
The Democratic Party will make sure she gets a Democratic judge and prosecutor, this will all get settled without any significant punishment.

You know I am a right wing Republican that leans libertarian on a lot of issues. And I am definitely voting for Trump. So as much as I like seeing democrats f up, especially when it could change the balance of power in a state senate, my fist instinct is to believe that there is more to this story.
It seems unlikely that a LTC in the reserves serving as a state senator suddenly became a home burglar on par with the the bad guys from home alone. I read that her father passed away on the same street the burglary apparently happened on. This makes me think that while this is probably technical a Burglary it is probably some kind of domestic stimulation between the daughter (the senator) and the step mother.
Seeing my ants have ridiculous arguments over junk my grandfather left you can buy on eBay for 2 dollars makes me assume that it is highly likely this will be a sad case of the senator arguing about being promised something or feeling entitled to something from her dad. There was probably an argument and she probably went over there to get it anyway and was caught.
Another possibility is that her father just started giving away family mementos to neighbors when he was getting close to passing away. My grandfather’s next door neighbor is a full fledge horder and hit up my grandfather for a bunch of tools and a set of encyclopedias before he died. My ant went and talked to the wife of the horder guy and said that she wanted them back as those were the ones she would use for school projects in high school. The wife made her husband the horder guy give the encyclopedias back, and they were crammed in a garage with tons of other junk. And what was even weirder was that he owned a newer encyclopedia set, and he wasn’t even planning on selling them on eBay or anything. He’s just a strait up horder like the people in the TV show.
So she could have been trying to steal something she thought someone took advantage of her dad to take.
Now if one of my guesses are correct I know it won’t make much difference as burglary is burglary, but it will make it sadder. And it might determine weather she is able to gain sympathy to maintain her seat or win re-election.
But then again maybe she recently got hooked on meth, and needs some quick cash as that reserve Air Force and part time state senate money is cutting it.
She didn't like that her stepmother got half the estate. She was burglarizing the home for the laptop which probably has banking information.
