I remember going to footlocker after work with the mindset of buying the black cement 3’s but saw the Kobe 1’s and changed my mind. Best last minute choice I’ve made in quite some time 🔥
@drewbrz I must of had all the luck then. I went to Hibbets the day they released on a Saturday @ 4pm with a hope and a dream that they might have a pair left. To my surprise I was able to get a size 11 for myself. Was in & out in less than 15min. Still crispy in the box. I wear them about once a month.
@@str8heat810 The 3 is the 1 for me. I still remember laying on the living room floor, because there was nowhere to sit. Facts! By far my fav shoe in my collection. Remember seeing these in stores and no one was buying them. Waited up until they went on a massive discount. Got the black/purple colorway. By far my fav shoe in my collection. Great content as always. Keep it up weartesters! 💕
I have to agree…the Kobe 1 Protros set a bar that was too high for Nike to even live up to. I absolutely. Love the two pairs I got….although I can’t really wear them lose like I want to because the shoes are a little wider than my feet. To answer your question, it’s the KB 1 Protro and the GP1 retro…..that have not been matched in the last 5 years.
I've always loved Kobe's shoes because of how practical a lot of them were. The Kobe 4's and the Proto 1's have been some of the greatest performing basketball sneakers I've ever worn.
Favorite Nike ball shoe is Hyperrev 2015. Balanced cushion, great fit, support's there, etc. Once on they felt like like part of your feet. Also they were so good I would use them for everything including running and other sports.
A lot of these shoes were sitting on the shelves on sale before the incident, I had a lot of opportunities to cop one but didn't. I still regret not getting one. Same with finding a Kobe 9 in a yard sale in my size and very good condition, a month before Kobe died.
Hey Guys! Make sure you sit and watch AND LISTEN for the proper instructions for todays homework assignment for the comment section. We'll be able to tell who does and doesn't. Just kidding. It's not that serious. But we do look forward to reading your answers down below. Have a good one!
I'd love it if Nike would protro the kobe 2 because I didn't have the cash to buy them when they released and it's the only shoe I saw kobe play in..The Carpe diem colorway which is kinda weird because I think the shoe has more of the Del Sol flavor to them just like these kobes in the vid.
I like the Zoom BB NXT only because I like running and those feel like Tempo NXT%'s for basketball. You did mention about current signature shoes not releasing in team inspired colorways. Wouldn't you consider the "Grey Fog" CW of the Zoom Freak 3 as a Bucks inspired CW?
Lebron 16 is my favourite basketball shoe of all time. I owned 4 pairs. Crazy cushion, durable and competent traction, no break-in time, adequate stability and containment. And they are pretty cheap on the used market for what they provide. I can easily fined them for $80.
Yes I'm very sad they didn't bother with a genuine version 2 My first pair, all black, covers any perceived styling flaws My second pair, yellow and white, might be a bit bold for some I think that's why they changed the NZR2 so much... But then they made it: A: worse for bball B: not look very different from all other shoes... so what's the point? Didn't know making good shoes was so hit and miss 😮
The OG Nike Hyperfuse were some of my favorites of all times. I know it’s a bit more than 10 years but they were lightweight, durable for outdoor hoops (most of my summers were spent outdoor) and they had some great colorways!
I really like my protro 1s but with my knees these days, admittedly I prefer to wear the KD 14. Thick traction like the old days. Wide base like the protro 1. Better cushion for the knees! Only thing lacking is the materials but they do the job. Really gotta yank the laces on the protro 1 because the leather can get roomy after an hour of playing.
I was at the Nike Outlet and they had the Black/Purple variant on clearance. The shoes were too expensive for me and a few weeks later Kobe passed away. I regret that decision...
Definitely the Kobe 1 Protros for an overall well balanced experience. But any time I wanna feel super fast or springy, I keep going back to the GT Cuts or the KD11's. Cant get enough of the full length zoom!!
I absolutely love the NZK 1. It's one of the most unique & beautiful sneakers crafted by Nike Basketball. At 4:53 you're referencing the material quality & couldn't agree more. The leather on the initial release is even better. I have the sharpshooter CW & I swear it is the most buttery soft leather to ever be on a basketball sneaker. Man I wish we would get this bang for our buck still today.
I still got the 81 point game colorway, I remember when Kobe passed I wore them to my lecture and every friend I had that had a pair of Kobe’s was wearing them, really special
I gotta said, the Kobe 4 Protro is the best hoop shoes I've ever have. Though I never had the original one. But the new cushion is perfect for me. The Kobe 1 Protro is great but fit a little loose for me.
Or short Mexican guys!!! I have several of these and I fully agree. Every color is great and they all play great. Love what you guys do. I will say that my favorite color way is the Minneapolis blue and grey.
I'm gonna have to go with Zoom GP Retro, the Gary Payton signature from the late 90s. Just an absolute tank, supportive as heck, materials are top notch, traction bites on every court and the cushion is perfect for a combo guard like me. Love them to the moon and back, wish Nike would have released more colorways of that, like "Black/Volt" colorway!
Got the OG at DD discounts for 35$. Grabbed 6 pairs back in the day. Black /white color way. Also they always had his apparel. Loaded up back then. Kobe my dude.
BTW, a fun fact that one of the reason GT Cut got so popular in China and the market price sky rocketed is that in China from the shoe factory has arumor that it was originally the Kobe 15 (or you can say the next Kobe NXT)
I absolutely agree with this. Copped Kobe 1 protros a year ago, I freaking love them. The style, materials and performance. Best performer I have ever worn imo.
My top 3 Nike shoe of all time, at least for what I’ve played with were the KD 12 being the best. Then this Kobe 1 Protro as second, followed by the Kobe 9 Elite as third best.
LeBron 10 and KD 9 were my favorites of the past 10 years. Easy picks for me. Had multiple pairs of each. Shout out to the Cosmic Unity and Clyde All Pro as my favorites of the last 3 years.
For me personally, it would have to be the lebron 11. It caters to everything I want in the basketball shoe and I love how it looks. Plus, the combo of full zoom and lunar foam is still amazing to date
I have an old pair of these in the black/white colorway. Hooped in them one last time the day Kobe passed…both soles separated by the end of my game. Great shoes!!
Got 2 pairs last 2018 and already sent them for repair because of sole seps & cleaning. I didn’t consider wearing other shoes to play aside from this. Got everything covered. Still looking to grab more color ways. 🙂
full on agreed that these are the best basketball shoes that they've made in such a long time. I was very disappointed they didn't have the full zoom air in the kobe 4 protros. I've played in these indoor and outdoor, and they are the best. RIP Mamba
I missed out on that black/yellow cw too. I was super disappointed. I was really wanting that USA cw to drop also, but I never saw a release. I agree about signature shoes being in the team colors. It didn’t make much sense Lebrons have been black/red. Should have been navy/burgundy while in Cleveland. I’m really hoping they Protro the Kobe 2 and 3 with full length zoom. That would be nice!
Only just sneaks in, the 2012 drop of the Nike Air Flight One are my faves, outside of any J’s. Had the OG’s, and the retro’s are so comfortable to play in. Underrated
Definitely my favorite I really regret not getting different color ways I was looking at the purple/black ones just sitting online never pulled the trigger but got one pair I’ll love forever
One of my top 3 all time shoes to ball, along with the Huarache 2k5 and the adidas Kobe OG (not the crazy one retros, the OGs were far better and way more durable than those retros). I missed badly on that beautiful colorway, the "final seconds" and the MPLS, so when I had the chance to double on the 81 points I did it, also getting one pair of the blackouts, so beautiful shoes to me and performance beasts. Still hoping Nike does protro the 2 and 3. And from the last 10 years of Nike Basketball, still my favorite, followed by the Zoom Flight 96 retro Penny olympic PE from 2016 (that colorway has really nice leather and full length zoom air too, feel amazing) and the Zoom GP retro.
Agreed. These are the most or one of the most underrated on court performers of recent years. Got all the almost all the cws except the Undefeated ones
Have only been trying basketball shoes for the last two years, thanks mainly to you for allowing me to learn and slowly figure out what I like/need through trial and error, kobe 1 protro was one of my first purchases. Now that im slowing down with buying shoes and have learned what suits me best, came back to the kobe 1 protro as the do it all standby, in my bag at all times. The next ones to make it to that level will probably be the why not 0.1 (i know jordan brand doesnt count but full length zoom ftw, better than strobel bc its a little more subtle, which i appreciate)
I’m with you on your statement about signature shoes should be made in their team specific colors!!! I’m old school. I also can’t stand how the teams rarely play in their home whites anymore, if they do at all. Best basketball shoe(Non Jordan Brand)in the last 10 years for me personally is the Nike Air Way Up Pippen PE retro.
2015 Hyperrev, the zoom units in that shoe just felt incredible and the uppers were super comfy. I’m sure there’s better models but I loved playing in that shoe so much
I still love the Lebron Soldier Elite 13 - they never disappointed me in any way especially since this wide footer sprained often. It was a sad moment when the zoom unit at the ball of the foot exploded.
Bought a Kobe Protro 1 just to wear them casual. Never did. Found a "just for fun basketball Team" (not a common thing in germany) and ended up wearing my Kobe Think 16 (Close Out) on court, even if the resell went crazy on these. But i really love them and still enjoy your Kobe 1 Videos years later.
I played in the OG Kobe 1 but not any of the protro. But right now, I have to go with the last few KDs and Air Jordan 31. The cushioning and support for those were A+
This color I rock casually but I’m gonna start hooping in them from now on, I had the blackout pair and they were AMAZING. Played with them indoors and outdoors. I wish I would have doubled up when I got them, but yeah these might be the best basketball shoe in the last 10 years. The contender after that might be the Nike hyper dunk 2013 I LOVE that shoe
They dropped my freshman year in college and I ended up with 5 color ways by accident lol. I was copping every time I saw them… and it was STRICTLY to hoop in.
I bought these and the black cement 3 on the same day. SO glad I did. I’ve worn them a bunch and they’re tanks. So durable and comfortable. LOVE this shoe. I got the MPLS colorway too.
I have the purple reign colorway. Loved them and used the hell out of them. But lately my knees get sore after playing in them, so I got shoes with better cushioning and planned to sell them… but looking at this video, I am reminded of how much I love them. So I’m probably just going to keep them and put them in an acrylic box or something. Thanks Chris!
I really wish that I had been able to grab a pair of these. Thanks for the great vid and please keep up the awesome work. The chemistry is excellent too.
Fave of the last 10 years... isn't a performance shoe anymore, but off nostalgia alone, the volt Air Command Force (so excited to still have a super clean pair). Also, I've never had the Kobe 1, but I had the O.G. takedown model, the Nike Air Zoom Legend Uptempo, talk about comfort!! Those were phenomenal hoop shoes.
My personal pick would be the Air Uptempo ‘95 … those were retro in 2011-2013 and another batch in 2017-2019. I do love the Kobe 1s for the low profile while not my 1st pick still in the top 5🔥🔥🔥
Great shoes indeed. I go through 3-4 pairs per season as i play competitive basketball. I got the white/purple 81p. Kobe 1s in 2018/2019. I always find something to complaint in my shoes but this is one is the only one i dont have anything bad to say. Everything is there, low profile cushion, nice raw materials, good fit, good heel lockdown, true to size, durable, best traction, outrigger for ankle support. I think is the best of the last 15 years. That is the reason i dont wear them anymore so i can save them for special occasions. One of the shoes i recently purchased and feel great, like old school great ( i am 35yo) are the GT Jumps but the fit is too narrow…also Lebron 17s were good but too high of the ground.
Yesss!! Kobe's first Nike signature shoe is the best. I still have the all-star game joints they are sooo comfortable like LBJ's Zoom Generation. I wonder if we'll see a retro of the Huarche 64 the line Nike released for March Madness I think or just for that college basketball season.
I remember when these were on sale at the outlet not even 3 years ago. $60 for the All Stars and 81 Points. Even on GOAT or Stock X you could get them for under $100. Immediately after Kobe passed it skyrocketed and went to $600-$800. Dropped down a bit now, around the $400 range but it’s unfortunate how quick people hop on the death of a superstar.
In the outlet by Pismo Beach in California, I saw them for $50 and you could buy them 20% off on the weekend. Unfortunately, after Kobe passed, they were all bought and scalped online.
I wanted to get them for the longest time but didn't have the money for it. Told myself to save up money and the plan was to get ALL the future Kobe protros. Devastated when the news dropped. Not sure if it'll ever be released ever again seeing how Nike was milking this
I personally prefer the Protro 5 and 6s. I really enjoy the new midsole + zoom turbo in the forefoot. I feel like the midsole for those two are Cushlon, so it’s very comfortable, and the 5 and 6s, especially the 6 with the molding insole, fit fantastically. Plus, the Protro 5 fixed the one flaw which was traction by adding more tread. I know Weartesters loves the Protro 1 but I found the fit sloppier which made the shoe feel heavier to me than it actually is. I personally prefer the Cushlon + zoom turbo set up over the thin full length zoom, though I also know Weartesters loves maximum zoom air implementation. I’ve tried to wear the Kobe 1 Protro to hoop several times and I just always go back to other shoes.
Too easy, the Kobe 1, all day, everyday, followed by....well, nothing, no other Nike basketball shoe over the last 10 years comes close, in my opinion. Thanks for another great video from Weartesters!
Would've loved to cop a pair of protro 1s. But for now, gotta give it to the GT Jump. Mad loving the cushion and the overall look. The feeling of landing on layers of zoom air is just.....
Greatest performer of all time for me is the Jordan 28/28SE/Melo M10. Traction was the best I’ve ever used. Cushioning was insane. Fit was 1:1. It’s a shame they don’t bring those back. Those shoes were perfect
I have the Kobe 1 All Stars and they’re the best shoe I’ve played in. Built like tanks yet so comfortable. Only played indoors with them but after more time I might take them outdoors. I went half size down but if I’m able to get another pair I’ll go TTS.
I remember that all star weekend. You gave me your all star ticket 🙏
I remember going to footlocker after work with the mindset of buying the black cement 3’s but saw the Kobe 1’s and changed my mind. Best last minute choice I’ve made in quite some time 🔥
@drewbrz Nah my g they had both in a size 11 but when comparing both the shoes in hand. The Kobe 1s won me over. Nowadays we don’t have that luxury.

The next ones to make it to that level will probably be the why not 0.1 (i know jordan brand doesnt count but full length zoom ftw, better than strobel bc its a little more subtle, which i appreciate)
hyperdunk 2011-2013 those lines of hyper dunks were awesome back then. the hyperdunk line morphed into a random stuff in the succeding iterations.
Love the vids bro. Great work, I’m glad someone out here doing ALL sneakers not just Jordan’s. Keep up the great work
Love this channel, always wholesome content!
I have 2 of the all star, black out, and MPLS. Need these
I have a pair of those blackout ones with the purple on them and they are GORGEOUS. I've never hooped in em, just casual wear
LeBron soldier 11 had to be my favorite nike basketball shoe. Wore those things until they fell apart! I miss those shoes.
And Weartesters is still king of the game.
Agreed. So glad these were slept on when they came out so I could get a few in the collection.
I played in the OG Kobe 1 but not any of the protro. But right now, I have to go with the last few KDs and Air Jordan 31. The cushioning and support for those were A+
The original was a Great shoe, great performance
Pro-tros kinda suck tho.
Hope these are up to scratch...
Nice review.
Cool hoodie
I liked the Pg 2, it was like a low mid cut shoe, nice traction, a great shoe in my opinion.
I wear Nike air 95's all my life playing basketball ... strong and comfortable sneaker .. love them
I have the purple reign colorway.
Some of my favourite from the last 10 years would probably be the KD12, LeBron 15 and the Kobe 6 all star retro
I really wish that I had been able to grab a pair of these. Thanks for the great vid and please keep up the awesome work. The chemistry is excellent too.
I agree with you Chris. Wish they would make shoes with this kind of quality again. That traction is mean 😤
Love that Kyries pay homage to old school shoes.
Fave Nike hoop shoes would be Kyrie 4/6/8 love the half leather half mesh setup.
Got 3 pairs of these! Amazing performer. Yet I still remember the “81 points” pairs were siting on every store Hong Kong back in the days…
The 2k4s were so great to play in back in high school. Mine came apart lol I need to try these Kobe 1s!
The nike adapt BB 2.0s are my personal favorite, stylish and got everything a good ballin shoe needs
Too easy, the Kobe 1, all day, everyday, followed by....well, nothing, no other Nike basketball shoe over the last 10 years comes close, in my opinion. Thanks for another great video from Weartesters!
I agree with both of you! I think the Kobe 1 Protro and GT Cut are Nike’s best in the last 10 years!
That shoe is the best I love Kobe’s need more Kobes
Would've loved to cop a pair of protro 1s. But for now, gotta give it to the GT Jump. Mad loving the cushion and the overall look. The feeling of landing on layers of zoom air is just.....
I got the purple reign protros. They’re a beast performer outdoors for sure
great vid, def my favourite over the last 15 years, I got a bunch of the og releases, 1s have to be my fav
I got them right before Kobe past away. Paid more than I wanted,$240. Got'em in my collection. Great kicks!
Greatest performer of all time for me is the Jordan 28/28SE/Melo M10. Traction was the best I’ve ever used. Cushioning was insane. Fit was 1:1. It’s a shame they don’t bring those back. Those shoes were perfect
Just saw the end of the video where he said no JB products lol. Then my pick for just Nike shoes would be PG 2s. Super solid. Loved those things.
I have the Kobe 1 All Stars and they’re the best shoe I’ve played in. Built like tanks yet so comfortable. Only played indoors with them but after more time I might take them outdoors. I went half size down but if I’m able to get another pair I’ll go TTS.
