    Hi, do you have a recommendation for a router to go with the home hub, and battery cameras?

    • @commaikEnglish
      @commaikEnglish  8 днів тому

      Hi,
      In my opinion, there are no special requirements for a router. I use the FritzBox ( amzn.to/4gPiizi ). This router is very popular here in Germany as I can set up a large mesh network with the right repeaters. For my switches, I use models from TP-Link with which I am satisfied.
      I think that the routers from TP-Link ( for example amzn.to/3Wh2kWe ) therefore also do a good job.
      You can use the cameras with your existing network if your network uses WiFi.
      Does that help you?

      @@commaikEnglish Hi, thanks again for your speedy reply, my son who lives in Denmark has just bought a new house and I am trying to suggest a security system for him, I have decided the Reolink Home Hub, as a starting point, which can handle upto 8 cameras, such as the Argus 4 Pro, as he will need to be able to get all the notifications, siren, light and the email messages, I thought the home hub needs to be connected to a router and then his home wifi, is this correct?, or does he need anything else?, I appreciate your response.

    • @commaikEnglish
      @commaikEnglish  8 днів тому

      Yes, that is correct.
      The Home Hub also has its own WLAN to which the cameras can be connected. However, the cameras must then be installed close to the Home Hub so that the signal is strong enough.
      I therefore recommend setting up your own network. You will need your router with WLAN for this. You connect the Hume Hub to the router via LAN or WLAN. The cameras are connected to the router via WLAN. If the reception is poor, the WLAN must be extended with repeaters.
      The Home hub then recognizes all cameras within the same network.
      I really liked the Argus 4 Pro. I liked the Altas PT Ultra even better because the battery could store more power. It is important that the batteries are no longer charged at temperatures below 0°C (this is the case with most lithium-ion batteries). I can imagine that the winter in Denmark is even colder than here in Germany?
      Would a PoE camera be an alternative? Otherwise, you will have to recharge the battery regularly indoors or use power from the socket.

    Does the connected camera(s) also records to the SD card inside the camera (if there is one) or not or only to the SD in the hub?

    • @commaikEnglish
      @commaikEnglish  3 дні тому +1

      Hi,
      You can use the SD card and the NVR at the same time. I have the RLN 36 and also the SD card in each camera. I therefore have all the cameras twice in the client and in the app. Once under the NVR and once as stand-alone.
      You can even create different recording presets this way. For example, you can activate 24/7 continuous recording on the NVR and only save motion alarms on the SD card.
      But beware, this only works if you regularly integrate the camera into your network and do not connect the cameras directly to the NVR. If you connect them directly, the NVR will set up its own SUb network and you will then only have access to the NVR (with the managed cameras) but no longer directly to the KAmera.
      I hope this helps you?

    • @Ludo_A
      @Ludo_A 3 дні тому

      @commaikEnglish Thanks! So when adding existing cameras to the hub they are 'integrated to the network' and 'not directly to the NVR?

    • @commaikEnglish
      @commaikEnglish  3 дні тому +1

      You have this option with the NVR. Unfortunately not with the Home Hub.
      If you integrate a camera into the Home Hub, you can choose whether you want to use the Home Hub's Wi-Fi (the Home Hub has its own Wi-Fi) or whether the camera remains in your network.
      I recommend using the stand-alone version via your existing network. Then you are not tied to the range of the Home Hub WLAN signal.
      Regardless of which option you choose, with the Home Hub the camera is always integrated into its own subnetwork. You will only see the camera in the app and in the client as a link in the Home Hub. Direct access to the camera (and the SD card) is no longer possible with the Home Hub.
      If you want to use the camera (SD card) and external recording separately, you would have to use an NVR.

      @commaikEnglish Thanks for your detailed explanation. If I knew this before I would not have bought the hub (I have not set it up yet).

      I only realized this myself after the installation. Do you need direct access to the cameras? You still have all the functions available with the Home Hub, don't you?

    Hi, does the Home Hub, take away the need for an NVR?

    • @commaikEnglish
      @commaikEnglish  10 днів тому +1

      If you have no more than 8 cameras, you can use the Home Hub instead of an NVR. In my opinion, however, the NVR has the advantage that it offers significantly more storage space. The Home Hub is smaller and noiseless - but only offers a maximum of 1TB of storage space.
      If you use Reolink's battery-powered cameras, then the Home Hub is a must. Unlike the NVR, it supports these cameras.
      I hope this helps you?

      Hi,
      The Altas PT Ultra is worth a look in the battery range (reolink.com/product/altas-pt-ultra/?aff=431).
      Have a look at my video on this
      english -> ua-cam.com/video/-oEbCvo_d7I/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/m7PizgRl2mo/v-deo.html
      German with English subtitles (original) -> ua-cam.com/video/yYXwyuQKInU/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/kkiMzuwHAM0/v-deo.html
      The camera has a 20,000 mAh battery and a solar panel.
      However, I only recently found out that the battery does not charge at temperatures below 0°C. But all modern lithium-ion batteries have this problem.

    I'd like to use my Home Hub and battery-powered cameras at a business location that does not (yet) have Internet. Do I set everything up on my home WiFi network and then take the devices to where I want to use them, w/ the Hub connected to a router there? Will the Hub simply store footage on a LAN? If not connected to the Internet can you confirm that I will not be able to view live footage on my phones and get notifications? Would it still be possible to access stored footage remotely? Thank you.

    • @commaikEnglish
      @commaikEnglish  Місяць тому +1

      Hi,
      You can also use the Home Hub and the cameras independently of the Internet. However, you will then only have access to them locally, i.e. in your store. If you want to watch the live stream or recordings from home, you need an internet connection.
      The data is stored on the Home Hub. If you are in your store and logged into the local network, you can access the live images, recordings and settings on your computer (client), via the app on your smartphone or via a browser.
      As you have different networks at home and in your store, I would set up the cameras and the Home Hub locally in the store. You install and configure the cameras, hang them up and set up the viewing angle. Then you set up the Home Hub and add the cameras there. Cameras and Home Hub must be in the same network for it to work. So you need a router in the store to which you can also connect the Home Hub via WLAN or LAN.
      I have also experienced the problem with the lack of an internet connection with many users of my German UA-cam channel. One possible solution is to use a 4G router or 4G data stick - for example something like this here amzn.to/3Zo56tz or as a modem version amzn.to/4g1qImQ. This allows you to establish a data connection to the Internet via the normal mobile phone network. This solution works, but consumes the corresponding data volume in the tariff that you then use for the SIM card. This is very expensive here in Germany. But I don't know how much it costs where you live. I found offers like this one on Amazon -> amzn.to/4itttPd. Maybe it's worth it for you?
      I hope this helps you?
      Best regards from Germany

    My Home Hub keeps getting disconnected (blue light changes to red). I reset it and it works fine, but after a while it disconnects again. Tech support is very useless and I'm about to send the Hub back. Any help?

      Hi,
      are you losing the connection in the network to the Home Hub or is the Home Hub losing the connection to the cameras?
      How did you integrate the Home Hub into the network? Via LAN or via WiFi?
      Greetings from Germany
