Bill Maher and Deepak Chopra randomly riff on true identity, preparing for the end, being chased by the monster that is death, Mother Theresa’s crisis of faith, Bill and Deepak’s spiritual journeys, the morality of spiritual transcendence, how the placebo effect is real, and how we are all just playing a part.

I love that Deepak Chopra does not let him interrupt. Usually when I listen to Bill he totally takes over the conversation and people don't get to finish their thought or story. This was a breath of fresh air that Deepak put him in his place!!!
That's a relief. I scan through the other interviews to see if he ever shuts up for a minute, and I think I heard Ice Cube talk the most out of any of the guests on this show.
I don't agree that Mr.Chopra was successful in preventing Mr.Maher from interrupting him, which is impossible for anybody. This is especially evident during their discussion on religion (near the one-hour mark)
Definitely a common theme with him. Worst interview in that regard was his interview of Rob Schneider. He literally didn't let him finish a sentence the entire interview.
@@joestefanoni5263 put him in his place KINDLY
Terrible interview, let the man talk geez. I think Bill was too intoxicated for this interview.
I don’t believe in all of Depaks philosophy, but I’ll be forever grateful for him introducing mindfulness to the masses. Also, meeting him in person he’s a very kind & thoughtful man.
Sometimes people laugh when they are astounded.
Bill, you need to give us a tour of Club Random! Everybody says they love it when they sit down but it looks just like a tiny room to us viewers! Come on! Give us a tour please! :)
Great request!!!
I agree!
Yea please!!!
agreed, show us whats on the walls. the mementos, etc.
Probably just being nice. Just another rich guys place
One of my favorite guests yet, if only Bill actually heard him out..
Deepak “atoms have consciousness” Chopra
@@reggie8370 He’s as loony as the typical guest that agrees to be on this podcast
I struggled to hear deepaks thoughts with the constant interruptions from Bill who seems to love the sound of his own voice
Yeah.. he does not listen at all.
Learn when to listen..
You'd think Bill would wake up and realize how much he could learn from someone like Deepak Chopra.
I couldn't agree more. He does it with all his guests.. One of his guests needs to call him out on that. It's a great concept, but Bill needs to show his guests a little more respect then he does. He judges everyone in the country for being so righteous in their beliefs but then he does the same thing over and over again... Unfortunate because it's very entertaining and at time insightful concept. Not trying to throw Bill under the bus; it's just a blind spot he has. And I don't by at 67 he can't change.. Communication skills is practice and effective listening is the key. Also he views spiritual people as religious, two very different things, that Deepak tried to explain.
@@srf12341234 True, I do think Bill believes he's honest most of the time and that's probably one of the main reasons I watch Club Random, that plus it's nice to get to know some of the people I never really new much about personally, like Woody Harrelson, Gene Simmons, Kid Rock and Jay Leno. And I back Bill's position regarding vaccines, doctors and big pharma 100%.
Deepak Chopra is a scam artist
Bill, normally I love to hear you talk. But this is a time to listen and learn.

Or like crawl off that high hourse and contribute something of value to the conversation maybe? 🤷♂️
@@First-Last_name Bill still doesn't realize the ego is not our essential identity. Even Sam Harris knows that. So yes, Deepak can teach Bill some things if he'd actually listen and try to understand.
May be the best line during the whole conversation "we're sleepwalking to extinction".
we aren't sleepwalking to extinction, we are walking toward it with eyes wide open but it seems that no one cares...
@@paulreider8321 Exactly, no one cares because they are all sleeping, and you are not willing to take the authority.
Or Bill saying, "You are throwing everything into a soup."
I'm the same age as Bill Maher. I don't usually fear death, but as it gets closer it does cross my mind more often. I had a few psychedelic experiences when I was young that showed me something similar to what Chopra is talking about. I consider myself an atheist as I don't believe in God, but I do feel like I'm a part of a larger whole. Maybe like a drop of water being returned to the ocean. My own self may be gone but part of myself will continue. I hope Bill can make peace with whatever waits for all of us.
Absolutely agree.
“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean, in a drop” -Rumi
Bill, this might, personally, be your most important interview. These concepts might come back to influence you. I love how Deepak would not let you interrupt! Your whole world seems to be very rooted in sex, which is a big part of everyone’s life, but it is not everything! I agree with Deepak: what’s it all about Alfie? Nothing. It is all a game and we are simply spirits in transit! Enjoy and be self realized!
I know. It makes me sad for Bill that Deepak is pointing out so many fundamental truths and Bill interrupts and laughs them away. But then…this is a foreign language to Bill because he sees himself only as a body so the ego is so strong that his inner being can rarely be heard by him.
yes!
Deepak is a capitalist he does not deny it 😢
Agreed.
I'm impressed, Bill. For a man who openly dislikes therapy (mainly for yourself) for reasons you have openly stated, you are actually listening actively to Deepak, pushing through your resistance. He is a very good g u r u for you (that is brilliant). It would be "giving back" and uplifting to anyone who loves you unconditionally (as in accepting your narcissim) for you to overcome your race from the death monster and embrace your mortality...publically as you are so brave to "show" yourself authentically on Club Random. Wow.
That was one of Bills best interviews. Being a student of sitar , I especially liked the story of Raviji tuning up the Sitar with Tabla player and getting an Applause from their Western audience LOL
Oh, Bill. You may regret not listening and learning from this man. The first step is to separate from your ego.
This man is so full of knowledge and wisdom.
@Foulfellowjust wondering what you find fraudulent? Each has his own perspective on life. It is up to you what path you take?
Yes, but he’s being real and not agreeable or holding him in higher esteem..Equalizing the situation.
and full of shit. saying he knows when he will die. bill will never buy that kind of shit. its gullibles who just latch onto one man & believe everything he says!
Bill can not ever shut up long enough for the other person to complete his/ her sentence. The man is too in love with his own voice.
if you smoked a joint with him, you would never get it back, and he would relight it 20 times, because he never shuts up.
@@choppedandchanneled he would ask you a question and then talk over you as he's looking for ice
Yeah he's gone over the deep end. I totally agree with you . Though I am an enemy of chopra who is nothing more than a con artist
It's amazing how sencere, caring and legit Deepak Chopra is. Bill is so fake compared to Deepak.
KEEP BEING YOU BILL FUCK THESE WHINING CUNTS ❤❤❤❤❤
Deepak's books have helped bring peace and understanding to my life.
His words may not resonate with some people, but that does not make him a charlatan or fraud.
Respect.
He pretends to understand quantum and misrepresents it.
To those of scientific bent this is unforgiveable.
He says he knows when he will die and it will be in meditation.
What's the betting he's wrong ?
He is a capitalist though, he does not deny 😢
Glad he could help you. He is a liar though.
Which would you choose to emanate? Bill or Deepak? It's obvious this man from India is Holy.
It was very very good - thank you to go through so many topics - eg, from self identity to go beyond, from right to left - left to right, AI chatbot for suicide prevention to healthy death, from ignorance to evolution, from living in the insane world to no resistance to living .... Then, about 1971 Bangladesh concert in NYC, politics, culture, and love not depend on anything. What can I ask more? Thank you very much!
"Organized religion is the domain of cunning hypocrites."" Truer words were never spoken.
please Bill let your guests talk
I adore Bill Maher but he was an Absolute Glassbowl To Deepak. You owe him an apology! Bill, you never shut up, Mocking him nonstop. Shame on you. What a terrible listener!
Duh it's called CONVERSATION jeese *!
He would, if Deepak had anything worthy to say about anything.
Deepak is a charlatan of the worst kind. He has tried to make himself into a modern day religious icon. The rubbish he spouts has been debunked over and over by those who actually understand and correctly use the terminology that this charlatan uses to attempt to confuse gullible folks into thinking that they are not intelligent enough to understand what he is saying. A technique used for millennia by conmen and others who desire to control people for the purpose of lining their pockets and cementing power.
@@donnacarter4890 Lighten up, it's banter. Deepak is not a guru to everyone. I know his disciples are all getting angry now that Bill wasn't bowing to his wisdom, but he's a quack and it's honestly surprising he was on the show in the first place.
I loved this interview! Life is but a dream. So true. Deepak has such wisdom, and he’s very humble and willing to concede when he’s wrong, like when he conceded that not all politicians are necessarily just power-mongers. If Bill Maher is truly an atheist and does not believe in an afterlife, why does he fear death? I guess when you are in the process of dying and still have consciousness, you might be fearful of it, since you still have capacity to feel pain and regret. However, if you truly believe there is no afterlife, there is nothing to fear. You simply die, and you cease to exist. If there is no afterlife, you will have no fear, no regrets, no anything after death because you no longer exist or have any consciousness. Maybe he’s really agnostic and more spiritual than he’s willing to admit.
This was unexpectedly epic. Deepak should have mentioned it is the ignorance of the truth of who you are and not the other way.
That was the perfect podcast. Yin and Yang!
Dang… normally I love Bills interviews but he really dropped the ball on this one. Deepak was trying to share his points and Bill just kept talking over him and disregarding what he’s sharing. Def missed opportunity to explore some interesting topics
That’s because DC is a charlatan moron
We have an obligation not to respect nonsense
Yeah… you have a bad take dude. Deepak has a lot wisdom but he also spins a ton of bullshit that deserves to be called out. You can’t be so myopic.
Well said Brazil…notice all the unaware trolls who know nothing about what Deepak is talking about but think they do. This is how we ended up with trump!
It was both painful and frustrating to watch - particularly the beginning. However, it made me better appreciate Deepak's self-work - as it helps to have a comparison between a wise way of being and the other!
Smiling all the way through as a great admirer of both of these men. Both have changed me in different ways.
If you can't agree with someone or listen to what they have to say then talk louder than them and if that doesn't work, talk louder and faster. That always works.
Bill Maher is so steeped in fear and darkness that he can treat those who might have a very different experience with rudeness and a joke. Bill, consider losing that superficial ego and dare to come out of your farkness.
He’s a talker and he’s high. There’s no mal intent. And I’m quite sure these topics make him uncomfortable. I forgive him. Because it’s me.
@@shannontreiber1070 Of course we should forgive. But here, not really. There is nothing to forgive. We only understand that Bill is too unaware and that he's scared. High or not, Bill will be ok because we all follow our paths to the same earthly ending. Bill is living his dream, as we all are.

The contrast between these two souls is incredibly interesting to watch unfold.

When Deepak said that western medicine doesn’t prolong life only misery- it made lots of sense. He is very aware of the cycle of life.
Tell that to Larry Hagman or other liver transplant recipients....
Deepak peddles bullshit.
@@JamieLeeKnoxville I believe Larry's dead now. That's the point.
@@rainmanjr2007 I know he's dead but he got a liver transplant and lived many more years then had he not. That's the point.
@@JamieLeeKnoxville I know you think that's the point but it's not. Life is momentary and will end as, and when, it needs to end. A lot of death is likely coming to our nation and globe so it's my suggestion (as a Zen Taoist) that we lose this fear of it. This is our mental illness and not serving us well. Life is not about time. It's about quality of the experience. One can not have such quality if death is feared and as common as ...death.

Love you, Bill...let the guest talk, please. You'll be back next week; this is the guest's time to talk more and make their points.
I'm getting more and more put off by Bill's intolerance for ideas that require sophisticated and nuanced thinking. Bill is as closed off and disrespectful as Tucker Carlson to guests and information he cannot understand. Tucker and Bill are two sides of the same coin. Some people have a low openness to experience, meaning they close themselves off to anything beyond their familiarity and imagination, which is already a narrow and limited space.
If this episode made you uncomfortable it's because it made you fearful. Some haven't built the self awareness to see anything honestly, Deepak was right about that. A highly self aware person trying to explain their spirituality to someone closed off and out of touch with themselves is like trying to explain colour to a blind person.
I have never believed Bill not wanting to be married despite how often he tries to make the case that he is happy as a single man. Someone who's too closed off to fall in love and start a family and now in old age is so scared of dying alone is not someone I take that seriously or want advice from, unless it's how NOT to live.
If Bill remains closed off by the limits of his own imagination he will die in fear instead of with dignity and peace, I don't want that for him, I like Bill.
Queue "Hurt" by Johnny Cash.
I couldn't agree more! Well said
Right, his smug comes off pretty bad in this one. He shoulda left this in the vault
A very good observation. His fear of death seems to almost completely consume him
I have experienced these ideas and attitudes from many people in the US, it's pretty familiar, these are the result of materialism bought to one by capitalism. When you are the subject of the object loosing it is scary. You generally can't go deep with these people, they also tend to avoid the real, they would call it drama. They look like conscious beings but still not aware of their doctrinations.
The good thing, he isn't as terrible and fake as the likes of Don Lemon, Whoopi Goldberg or Joy Behar. I'm just thankful for that.
Excellent episode, and as I watched you can see Bill is black and white, while Deepak engages in the abstract. It definitely kept my attention and a lot of great points were made from both
Bill cracks me up. He just tells jokes the whole time while this guy is so serious 😂
first time i have heard anyone refer to THE deepak chopra as "this guy." lol
@@nicebluejay He’s usually referred as Mr. Woo Woo.
Neither of those things are true, they are both funny and serious at different times. Bill was getting uncomfortable throughout lmao.
Yep, he has a joke about everything he says!...LOL
I find Bill is obnoxious and irrascable in his advancing age, probably from too much cannabis use. Chopra's points at the beginning about the dreamlike quality of life become unavoidably obvious to anyone paying attention to their experience. Our brains generate a sense of psychological continuity that don't stand up to even a moment of scrutiny in still awareness. Exactly as Chopra said, where is your childhood now. When the words come out of my mouth they're already gone. We can pretend this is some far out woo woo fabrication, or you can see for yourself right now what happens - as quickly as a moment arises it passes away at any scale of observation. When you watch what's actuallly happening as it happens for 10 seconds without the backdrop of commentary or preconcieved ideas about who you are, what you think is happening or any other conceptual layering, and Chopras words become obviously true and not hard to understand.
His cultural traditions around a life well lived and a death accepted are also commendable.
Bill thanks for displaying the contrast between enlightenment and intellectualism.
Just donated some money to Deepak's charity. He's clearly a good dude, here just to do good...bless him.
Why would you donate to someone worth in the neighborhood of $100 million dollars?
Hilarious. He’s worth 20 million 🤡
I started listening to Deepak nearly 20 years. I learned a lot about myself.
Now since he’s gone Hollywood I’ve lost all respect for him. I’m still a Eckart Tolle guy .

Idk if I'd say bill was being like a cat like that.
BUT - this is the 2nd time the cat didn't go on and on and on complaining about Covid.
But the cat thoroughly enjoys that torture and everything else in its life.

@@monicabeaston4996 Yeah, it's kind of interesting, right, that he talks about getting older and understanding more things, and I agree with him on that, understanding history, understanding culture and food, like gazpacho is cold, lol, but then when it comes to love, well, you learn what love becomes after the bright-hot insanity that love tends to be at the beginning, and it's just like having a really nice whisky as opposed to a Zima, haha. When I was in Kolkata, I was walking with my friend Raja. All of the sudden my body filled up with grief and I began sobbing deeply. Raja looked at me and said, Mother Teresa is up there and pointed ahead a half block. I sat with her for a long time. My spiritual experiences are vast and too many to mention. Thanks Deepak. I am motivated to rewrite my first book and to finish others. I love to hear you talk about how emotion is connected to our health, our being. The work I have been doing with clients is beyond the emotion to the belief. Once the belief is cleared (or revealed) the emotional body can heal through feeling, talking and other energy tools. This was a good experience for Bill .... he has been red-pilled by his Trump loving fiends, and a conversation about the meaning of life an inevitability of death might set him back to reality. Good for you, Bill
Bill, stop arguing dude, this is not a debate on your show, this is a guest at your house, relax little man.
not a fan of Deepak. but bill constantly talks over him and it's pretty disrespectful
Good. That’s how fraudulent people should be communicated with.
@@jslberto why can't they both be in the wrong?
That's the only way to converse with Deepak and still maintain one's own sanity.
@@TheeKingMaker one is a lifelong fraud. The other is someone that talks to people for a living. Forgive me if I don’t sweat over the latter
@J I get it. but if you invite someone over to interview them and not let them speak is weird. and I love bill
Bill’s “Happy ending” 😂
and he went on to explain the joke like a 3 yr old
@@Ninkopi because Deepak has zero sense of humor and is on a podcast with a friggin comedian.
Wow, this is an entirely different interaction than what I've ever seen with Bill Maher. It seems as though he has a reverence for Deepak. Which is pretty neat to see. Love both of these guys.
Bill!! Please take time to listen.
Great talk. 👍
I thought I would hate this, but I loved it. What an inspiration Deepak is+
This video is great , one of the best video's on youtube , i looooove this video very much . Over the past months i observed this video maybe some 20 times ...
Never thought I’d say that this would be my favorite guest so far..and I won’t but it’s damn close. Bill cracking wise on old music and movie lines was definitely over his head or too high for this GURU. WELL DONE😊
It was a very good year.
Wow... a staggering difference in depth and understanding... 🤭
As a secular humanist who thinks Deepak says a lot of made up crap, I will say there is some merit to his mental exercise about us "being phonies" and playing at playing ourselves. This is simply a mental exercise to try to have a metaphorical out of body experience and seeing ourselves outside of ourselves to gain perspective. Its like doing magic mushrooms without the shrooms. I get his point. Its healthy to see ourselves from the outside in.
*Also funny how he and Dawkins both sat in the same chair. lulz
Dawkins interviewed Deepak back in the day 😅
The funniest bit Bill has done in years is his "Hello Fresh" pitch. I couldn't stop laughing!
Interesting show, but when Bill clearly does not understand a subject, all he can do is tell jokes, interrupt and laugh at the guests.
Good...that's what we all need. Too much seriousness around.
When the guest is a joke in the flesh, it's fitting to laugh throughout.
Newsflash - telling jokes is the MAIN THiNG A COMEDIAN DOES 🤡
Not understanding wound-licking curing leprosy or charlatan's claiming they know when they're going to die seems. . . correct.
To be fair, nonsensical babble is difficult to understand.
Oh my Fn Gawd. This is the the absolute best😂 thank you Both. I look forward to seeing your new colab on CNN that's exciting there's finally going to get some better shows with the actual facts yeah it works have fun Bill im stoked 😅
6:21 Death is not really a monster. It's just something you don't want to do now. It's a return to the infinite. You'll be fine Bill. Death is the great equalizer. No billionaire can escape it.
Chopra did a really bad job of explaining to him that he has nothing to fear. The soul is not finite, just the body.
I have to say, although this is not Bill’s forte, I admire that he is curious enough to spend time with Deepak.
Bill is so adolescent.
Totally agree
Smell my farts!
BUT he is very intelligent.
I want to see this video again, Deepak is insperational teaching for our times
