- Toy train review & unboxing of the amazing Lego DUPLO train sets and track pack. This video will show Lego set 10507 Steam Train My First Train Set, 10508 Diesel Train Deluxe Train Set and 10506 DUPLO Train Accessory Set & Level Crossing. Lego DUPLO is large in scale, easy to set up and had amazing playability because it's Lego. The trains are easily made into different designs and when running need to be managed with fuel stops for educational learning. There are features in this toy train system that you will not find in any others. But when it comes to playing with the most popular styles of toy trains that's when this very different railway and this toy train starts to fall apart. Basically Lego DUPLO loves to play with Lego DUPLO and nothing else (apart from standard Lego bricks). To my utter surprise the Lego City train system has no cross compatibility with Lego DUPLO train. I introduce onto the real Lego DUPLO train set a knock off (Dark Side) DUPLO Thomas The Tank. Then all sorts of confusion and delay start to happen as the trains start crashing and having accidents. Don't worry the DUPLO Goat will fly through the air just like Goat Simulator and save the day. I also take a quick look at the learn to count Lego Duplo train and see how it works on DUPLO track. Sadly there is a pinch point on the points, weird to see this problem happening. Lego DUPLO trains are not cheap, but they do make a early learning toy train like no other. My advice is don't buy just one set, buy many and try to get these toys when they are on special as I did.

Those duplo sets look cool I really like trains
Duplo has changed since I was a kid, i had no idea the engines were motorized now. that is really cool. I would have been very happy to have this as a young engineer, and that's saying something because I refused to play with any toy that wasn't Thomas back then.

Apparently since 2017-2018, the Duplo trains have been redesigned. The locomotive train base is now an individual base without that rear door section (and now takes AAA batteries like the regular Lego PF/PU Bluetooth trains) and you have to push the train to make it move, and the train doesn't move when it's lifted (possibly for safety reasons). The train car bases were also redesigned with wheels that individually spin instead of both wheels attached to a single axle. Pretty sure the couplings remain the same. The tracks are also now in a lighter shade of grey and there's action bricks that are placed on the tracks (they make the train stop, change direction, refuel, activate/deactivate the light, and activate a train sound). Like the Powered Up trains, they also have an optional app to control the train.
The classic duplo trains are the best, my grandpa still has them, the push along ones with connection rods that actually moved and you can build it any way you like without having the restriction of the back container which has the motor

Thank you for the great video! This's our first LEGO Duplo trains video we watched on UA-cam. And we watched it so many times that it's even difficult to count. In that time, we didn't have LEGO train sets at all. But now we have lots of them and we build various mega constructions with these sets on our own channel:)

One thing about the DUPLO trains sets here is that they have stayed in stores for basically 3 years now. I thought they were clearing them out a year ago but then they came back. I am guessing that they have been a good seller. Very well made toys. I do not know why LEGO discontinued the license with the Thomas line. Sadly they did not make enough. No Annie & Clarabel. I would actually like to get that knock off version but I hate supporting the knock-offs - but I might do it anyway. One thing with the Thomas LEGO DUPLO is that the couplers are oriented different than these which is probably why the knock off is backwards.
Goat train - lol! Sometime your play by play reminds me of those Monty Python sketches like Philosophers Soccer Match - lol! Very entertaining.
The wide wheel on the counting trains work a little better on the older DUPLO train tracks (the ones that are black) but still not great
+Train Tsar Fun I think when Mattel purchased Thomas & Friends it had them pull the Thomas toys to in house companies. Mega Bloks is owned by Mattel. Considering Lego and Mattel are at war with each other maybe that's a reason why we lost the awesome Thomas Duplo Trains and the fancy knockoff's started to appear.

A very quality toy train, I have a lot of good memories playing with friend's Duplo sets long after I should have 'grown' out of them :P! But the Thomas line was done really poorly, they didn't give the engines the sets they deserved; too many random characters instead of the classics! But the Duplo toys are, just like LEGO, very very expensive. Interesting about that push along, only needs 1-2mm taken off the wheels!!!

This knock off Thomas isn't made for going up bridges, in fact there is another one that can go up bridges which is just slightly more expensive. I'm not supporting knockoffs but my son wants an electric Thomas and knockoffs are the only options if you don't want to break the bank.

+Woodland Junction I think your on the money there, the Mattel connection to Thomas & Friends is sort of kept fairly low key. I think we all wish Lego was doing the thomas sets, they would be totally awesome.

made me laugh. that is one of my pet angers that many trains seem like they can talk to each other but cant. their track systems are oh, oh so close . case in point : i have a train called the desktop train. it is so so close to h.o that the cars( cars =wagons in us) fit on h.o track. the loco does not . my other pet anger that the manufacurers still insist on not putting couplers ( couplings ) on the front of most steamies . that is why i went to deasels. or the couplers dont work at all. great review of the dupelo sets . i agree with train tsar fun. i have the push along thomas and what no annie or clarabelle? bah humbug.

I think the reason Lego stopped doing Thomas was that they weren't selling well. Which there own felt because other then the Thomas and Spencer none of them had any track they were just a train with a prop. So were getting a whole lot of train, but not enough track to go with them.
+Preceptor exe Didn't Mattel buy out Thomas, and I think Mattel own Mega bloks brand...maybe I'm wrong but I think thats maybe whats going on. Those big toy companies move in very mysterious ways with brands.

lego duplo does do the thomas and friends but its push along train because they does't have motor
leo, I don't know exactly what happened but I know years ago Lego Duplo used to make a wide assortment of Thomas themed sets. I know they have the basic characters like thomas, james, percy, and toby. but then for some reason Lego didn't renew the licencing rights to make Thomas building toys, and currently Megablox makes the Thomas building sets. personaly, I have seen both and I think Lego did the better job quality wise.
+birca04 I think what happened is Mattel purchased Thomas & Friends a few years ago. They were never going to have another toy company do Thomas. Thats why we have the Mega Bloks Thomas that not as awesome as the old DUPLO Thomas sets. I may be wrong because these big toy companies move in mysterious ways, but with Mattel owning Thomas it sort of explains why there has been some rather strange changes of late.

+birca04 I have learned the golden era for Thomas toys was the 90's. The saying "the good old days" certainly applies to Thomas toys. Who knows we may return to the good old days in the future, but I doubt it.

The reason duplo stopped making Thomas sets is because Lego lost the licence and instead the license went to mega bloks
