- Best Hardware Shops in Japan - Mini-series - Joyful Honda Pro Shop
In this mini-series, we visit hardware shops all over Japan. In this video, we visit Joyful Honda Pro Shop, a unique shop marketing directly to the professional tradesperson. There are only 3 Joyful Honda Pro Shops in Japan and they are all in Chiba Prefecture. The JH Pro Shop is full of professional level tools for carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and the everyday handy-person. You will find a variety of electric and battery powered tools, hand tools, work clothes, tool boxes, and other heavy equipment. This shop is a must see if you want to see a lot of high-quality Made in Japan tools that may be hard to find in other hardware stores.
Joyful Honda is headquartered in Ibaraki Prefecture, just north of Tokyo. The company was incorporated in December 1975 as a business offering a home center, garden center, pet center, and an arts & crafts center. JH offers a large selection of professional and DIY tools and equipment. Not only does it offer tools and equipment, but it also offers everyday household items such as cleaning supplies, kitchen supplies, outdoor equipment, food and drinks, etc. It is truly a one stop shop for everything you need. There are 15 enormous home centers spanning, 6 prefectures.
We found that the Joyful Honda Pro Shop contains more power tools than the typical Joyful Honda Home Centers. If you are interested in finding a specific power tool then visiting a Joyful Honda Pro Shop is highly recommended. If they don't have a tool they do have a wall of product catalogs from top tool manufacturers in Japan from Makita and Hitachi to Olfa and Shinwa. If they don't have an item, simply ask and they can order it for you. We also found that the pricing at the Joyful Honda Pro Shops are pretty reasonable and very consistent unlike Amazon.
We hope you enjoy this video. Stay tuned for more hardware shops in this mini-series in the coming months.

Im a carpenter in Utah, USA
This looks like heaven
Yeah, it is one of my favorite stops if I am in the area. I often go in there just to look and dream.
I’m on a train to go check this out as I type this. AMA
I hope it is worth the trip for you.
Thank you for the video. I love this series of carpentry shops. I think I will need to create a little pilgrimage to the various shops you showcased when Japan opens up to tourists.
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I was able to pop into Joyful Honda Pro during our last day in Japan (yesterday) and bought a handful of Nipponsei tools.
Incredible selection of tools with extreme attention to organization and presentation. I only had an hour in store to shop, but easily could have spent 2-3 hrs browsing each row.
Glad I could help!
A little slice of heaven.
Thank you for sharing - enjoyed the walkthrough
I hope I get a chance to visit all of these very cool tool shops you're highlighting on your channel someday!!
Good Evening,
Got back from Japan recently and visited this exact store. Thanks for the video. Had a great time, and spent too much money on a wide range of stuff.
Unfortunately a typhoon came through in the late afternoon so I got soaked on the way back to my in-law's house. Dont worry, the tools stayed dry.
Cant wait to get back!
I would spend a full day in there OMG. I am super envious of your experience there
Thank you
hope i will visit Japan once in my lifetime
cool shop to go if i ever go to japan !!!
I would love to walk and shop at this high-end store! 👌👌
That bit quick-release keychain is very cool, and have never seen it before.
Thank you for showing us that folding saw! I definitely want this.
Any time!
They are quite common in Japan so you shouldn’t have much difficulty finding one online or in better woodworking supply stores.
@@trappenweisseguy27 Garrett Wade has the 265mm version!
1:40 glad to see they're playing Ado san's music in the store
Wow. If I could find a Shop of Toos like this in the U.S. I would support it.
Shimachu homes is a great one
Great place , we didn’t get to see the cart of stuff you left with !!!!! 😂
I keep my wallet far away from me, otherwise I can get carried away.
@@thecarpentrylife very good plan …. I might try it ……
What a sweet sweet shop. I'm so jealous.
I thought Ryobi was a Japanese brand but in fact it's owned by Techtronic Industries, a Hong Kong based company who also owns Milwaukee.
JoyHonda in California please!! This place is awesome!
You leftists only deserve Harbor Freight
Is this store were in California , it would be shop-lifted and looted out of existence in a week !
I have the same zetsaw in South Africa the issue I have is I bought a fine blade but don't want to constantly change blades but they don't sell just the handle in SA, love the saw though
Great channel .
From Liverpool England UK.
So important to learn from others .
What a great tool store .
What are those hex head bit holders called .?
Stay safe 👍
Thank you for watching. Those hex head bit holders are by TOP. There are several companies that sell them. Some have different directions to release the bit. Check out this link
www.amazon.co.jp/ESH-BRBKN/dp/B009325AQ0?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
Also, check out other companies like Vessel, SKII, and Anex. These companies all make similar bit holders. I like the TOP ones best.

Somewhat hard finding quality tools
Shopping around like you do is necessary at times
If you haven’t already, doing a video on flea markets/garage sales for old quality tools would be interesting
More Tool shop Tours Please sir ...
and links to buying * if available in England
Merry tools
4:40 - THAT is an excellent bit of kit...why is it that I've never seen this on anyone's rig over here?
Hey I live in Tokyo and have always wanted to take a carpentry class. Do you know if there are any gaijin friendly-sh workshops in the region, something like a weekend long workshop or something like that? My Japanese is not great.
Do you have Softgle Comfort? Maybe I can buy it from you? This is very popular and in demand products now!
Love your channel! What is the quick release drill bit holder on the carabiner called? I’d love to see if I can get one out here in the USA.
You can get it here. amzn.to/3B5ge2S
god,.... heaven.... seems those nice Makita soft impact machines arent available in the European market... cant find that TS141DRGX here in the Netherlands 😅
Japanese veryferpectionis in tools i love japanese they love their job. Iwonder of them.
Where is it? Thank you!
One thing I'll say is those power tools are 3X more expensive than in Canada.
Good video my brother Japanese Toools ( world number one❤️❤️❤️❤️👌👌👌🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
👍
У меня аж " глаза разбежались " - лепота !
Looks like a Walgreens pharmacy in the US.
It's funny,In the USA ryobi is thought of as a lesser/ store to consumer brand... I used it professionally when I was in residential construction... It's considered a professional tool in Japan... I wonder if it's more expensive in Japan than the u.s. being professional grade?
Tools here tend to be higher priced. But you will find a lot of tools made in Japan to some extent. For example, impact guns are made mostly in Japan.
Actually Japan use sliding doors, so they don't have older system article used for home, like bracket or coupling . Jay bharat.
Whats the address? Is this the one in Kashiwa? I’m currently in Oyama and would like to stop by in this JH
There are three stores in Chiba. www.honda-ya.com Enjoy!
@@thecarpentrylife Thanks for your videos. Bit of a leftfield question, but do you know of a pro decorators merchants in Tokyo? My daughter is there at the moment and I've asked her to pick me up a good quality Japanese paint brush. I've been looking online but can't find a pro quality outlet.
what is their most sold items
Good question. I would like to know too.
Do they ship to US?
Unfortunately, they do not ship to US.
Great video….I bet you left Japan with a load of tools….hope customs never took you one side.
アメリカ人がハイコーキをヒコーキと読む不思議。
Shut up and take my money!!
It's how I feel also.
you only show about 1% of the store; how about a real tour of the whole place ?
