I highly recommend the actual album 'Station To Station' from 1976. Not only my favorite Bowie album, but my #4 favorite album of all time. Bowie was into occultist Aleister Crowley and LOTS of cocaine at the time. The song alludes to the Stations of the Cross or the 14 landmarks on Christ's path to the crucifixion. Also references to the Kabbalah and Crawley. Oh, and cocaine of course. Bowie was a bit out of his mind and unhealthy while recording the album. In later years he barely remembered recording it and warned against the path he had taken with drugs. It's incredible he recorded this album and the fact it's considered one of his best.
Guitarist was Earl slick , the Thin white duke was a character Bowie invented, the rumour goes Station to station was an album he couldn’t remember writing due to cocaine , thank you Fay
He seems to run through all the voices of his career in this version. Still, my favourite version is the 1976 live version, with the extra long intro. The throwing darts in Lovers' eyes and white stains bits are to do with Aleister Crowley the latter was a book of poetry, and he is supposed to have done the former, though knowing what an old fraud Crowley was he probably used a photograph.
David Bowie performed this beautifully in a film called Christiane F.
Good choice! Nice to see you liked Earl Slick. 😇
Oh my my....He's so gorgeous!

Too bad the quality of the footage from this show isn't that great. I've seen better recordings of this track.
