  • Testing out my new egg-shaped skateboard in a quick driveway session. This board feels great, and I managed to land a half cab boardslide for the first time! Loving this setup so far.
Hope you're out there staying motivated and getting your sessions in! Take your time, be patient, and just enjoy your skateboarding journey. If you’re trying new tricks, drop a comment below!

Nice cab boardslide! I’m going to have to try that one on my next session

Thanks, Nate! Not sure why, but it's way more comfy than rolling regular at it. Seems like anything rolling fakie feels better for some reason. Maybe I'll just skate fakie from now on 😂

Can't stay away from the rail 😂 Need more park sessions. Hopefully, this upcoming swell I'll get some good surfing videos to post. If I ever open a surf school, I'll teach you for free 🤟

Thanks Simon! Forgot how fun and simple driveway sessions can be. I'm definitely keeping the half cab board at home for now...for a split second was thinking of trying it at the rail with stairs. Maybe in 2025...maybe 🫠

Love to see the surf boards just came back from Santa Cruz with my sons unfortunately I can't surf anymore myself I have a fully replaced shoulder and it kills me just to swim. That is the main reason I started skateboarding at 53, couldn't surf anymore might as well skate!! What was that Fakie 50-50 half cab out? Anyway that was sick!

Thanks!! Surfing is my favorite for the most part. The inconsistency of waves here in the northeast makes it hard to get out much. I'm so glad I have skateboarding. Think it was fakie 5050 then almost half cab out 🤣. I like to just try random things to see if they work. That's what's so awesome about skateboarding. I'm just trying things, and hopefully, they stick.

@@OldBrokenSkater yeah I live on the west coast and have been surfing since I was 10, used to skip a lot of school just to hit the swell! I miss it that’s for sure! But hey I got skateboarding and like you said you can get pretty creative with it! I want to do a board slide to manual out I think I can get that! Anyway keep shredding whether it’s the waves or the concrete!

I bought the exact same board a few weeks ago and have skated with it for a week. it is my first and only egg so far.
overall while i liked the width compared to a 8.125 that i am used to previously, i found that the tail was incredibly short. way too short for me to use comfortably. takes a lot more force to get a good pop and get good leverage on the board and the tapering felt too intense.
even though it resolves to a 8.5 around the trucks. the actual tail and nose end up being a lot smaller because of the taper than throws me off with my timing, again especially that tail.
Having said that though, the actual flips and shove its felt amazing on it.
Initially i thought i would just not skate egg shapes and just get a 8.5 popsicle but something about that shape at least visually keep attracting me, whether it's the shape, the graphics or both...
I might bite the bullet and get a 9.5 symmetrical shellraiser egg and give it another try. if that doesn't feel right then i'll just keep skating popsicles like i always did.
    cool video, keep skating brother.

Thanks for watching the video! It's funny-we basically have the same approach on this. I wasn’t planning on riding an egg and was going to stick to popsicle boards and maybe a reissue. However, something about the shape drew me in, and the more I ride it, the more I like it. I think it’s the shape, and I also prefer shorter boards; it just feels good for cruising. The Hockey skateboard (popsicle) I have is symmetrical but only 8.125 inches wide. I like the feel of that board as well.

@@OldBrokenSkater agreed! 8.125 was the size i was riding before i discovered the eggs, it's a 8.125 with a 14.25 wheel base and a mellow concave and it feels absolutely great. just pops so well and reacts so well to my feet. like i dont even need to think about it too much and it just follows me.
i really think that this is in big part due to the wheelbase and tail shape.
i want to find the exact same size but with 8.5 width i think that's the real sweet spot for me. the fried egg has the same wheel base but the tail is sooo much smaller and a few degrees steeper it's not working well for me. but i can feel like i would still love that shape.

😂 Thanks! I'll start doing flip tricks soon, then the progress will come to a screeching halt, and the videos will be all slam clips 😂

Yea, it's super small compared to some of the other choices. It's definitely fun, though, so far. I'll check that board out and see if they have it one at the local shop. Specs on the internet look like what I'm looking for. Thanks for the recommendation!

    Great vid, awesome session.
    Surf videos will be sick!
I always wanted to surf but used to bodyboard a lot. 🤙🏼🛹

Driveway sessions always seem lame in my head, but then they turn fun real quick! Love surfing-it's so much fun and less painful for slams 😂. Bodyboarding is super fun too; used to do this on the days when waves were too big for surfing. Anything ocean is just awesome. I'll keep working to get some videos up; it's a bit challenging trying to film, but I'll figure it out.

@@OldBrokenSkater Funny thing is; we used to bodyboard cause where I'm from the waves were usually small. Good for longboards and sponges.
Slams aren't as bad, but I've been ran over and cut by a fin before.. (ouch)

    • @OldBrokenSkater
      @OldBrokenSkater  27 днів тому +1

Fin gash is never fun or being run over by a board at all. Here, the waves are either flat completely, almost good, or burley and big. Plus, add the cold water and winter to it, and it gets wild 🤣
