I live In South Florida and I am sorry Briana had that experience growing up down here. Because I am pretty certain that children are not born as being racist I am under the belief that this is sadly learned from their parents or older relatives. Keep being you. You are amazing. Thank you for putting out another great video, Maurice.

Brianna is a great actress, but get over it. Bullying happens to white people, heavy people, people with glasses, etc.

@@ameliaerin1544 watching someone comparing schoolyard bullying to racism while listening to a discussion on mental health..is mind blowing. Telling people to get over racist treatment is the best way to keep it alive. Unbelievable. You think it ends if she decides to change her glasses or adjust her weight? Do you think genocide happens to folks wearing ugly glasses? This is sickening. You need to speak to people of colour, clearly. There's no excuse for being this ignorant in this day and age, especially after the past year.

I’m a black Southern woman who will never forget the day I was waiting in line at McDonald’s when I was shocked out of my mind. Two children maybe 4 or 5-years old screamed, “Mommy, look! What’s wrong with her? She’s … Why’s her skin like that?” And they were pointing and staring at me like I was a giraffe in the bright sunlight of a McDonald’s.
My heart sank and I ran out to the car to cry. And I still have the hurt that prevents me from ignoring the disheartened people who are hanging around the convenience stores and in the corners of the emergency rooms. See people because a greeting removes the strange from Stranger.🤔🤝

I will say this over and over again, Maurice you have the best Interviews. Loved Briana. Her conversation was so genuine and relaxed. I could have listened all day. As a woman of color/Black, I can relate to what she was saying about racism and her experiences because of it. My grandchildren are biracial and they face the same racial issues. People always thought my daughter was the baby sitter whenever she would take her baby out. Terrible. Depression,. I’m so happy Briana, you has been able to get help for it. Many people will not talk about it or don’t recognize or understand it. My mother was severely depressed her entire life and people thought she was just lazy. Thank you, Maurice and Briana for this wonderful discussion and Blessings to you and your handsome husband., Chris♥️ Love you both ♥️

Listening to Brianna talk about bullying makes me so sad. I was bullied several times in school through the years. I was very quiet so kids took advantage of that. And just the other day, a beautiful little boy here in Brooklyn died after being hit in the head by a kid in school. 💔

Bullies should be expelled, not suspended ,any age, 3rd grade to 12, onto college or a job, expelled or fired, they are mentally torturing, sometimes physically torturing other students, bullying is a form of mental rape, those that do it need to be sent to something called 'a 1930's style reform school' and the message has to be sent clearly to bullies , boys and girls, that bullying will not be tolerated, in public or private school and there should be a national mandate. Bullying is child abuse, and should be treated as such,it's no different than sexual harassment and maybe worse, it is a crime a serious crime, a form of emotional rape that can damage a child , a teenage child or young adult for years, sometimes for life, it's just about as bad as sexual assault and in school especially. Bullying should be treated like it's arm robbery , because you are robbing a person of their dignity, their peace, their sound mind, it should be drilled into children since preschool , not to abuse other children and to report bullying and it is these days to a certain extent, but there should be mandatory anti bullying classes that goes against not just racism , but against all bigotry, misogyny, etc. Children in school should be taught that school isn't a beauty contest, , boy or girl, they're not there to mention anyone's looks, good or bad, what anyone's wearing or speak about the model of a car, they're there to learn, so asking anyone out for a date on school property should be not be allowed, things like proms, homecoming king&queen should not be allowed, it puts to much pressure on children, at best , only a sit down dressy dinner , but no dancing should be allowed, kids in general can do that stuff later, they shouldn't be made to feel pressure for adult stuff, sex, romance, mating, marriage, to make adults feel better, let their be a national mandate, school is for learning only, strict like that.

Loosely based off of what Tom Cruise was saying about not having mental health issues and about how medication doesn't help you... I think it would be very interesting and Important to speak up and out about.
Btw you know I love you so much and please tell Paula and your daughter a happy mothers day.

So glad I heard her story. She speaks about it with laughter but this is tragic stuff. It's real. When we raise our kids to think anyone is less than we are, we unleash destruction on this earth. This book talks about school age kids and when they start recognizing they are different, etc...very good read. Some of us as parents think elementary age is too young to talk about this. It is not. Thank you for these interviews Maurice 🙏 Our own State of Mind is absolutely a daily checking and choice of peace. My husband of almost 20 years had serious bouts of every mental issues due to his childhood and into his adulthood and through the years he has gone through tremendous transformation. He knew in started within and knew he needed to accept himself and love himself. The funny thing is...I did too. Although I did not exhibit the same issues, it made me look at myself to improve MY own state of mind too. It truly is a daily awareness and growth to accept who we are inside and know we are enough. Acceptance of ourselves is truly the way to live. We are One. 🙏💜

I felt like I did something wrong, but put on a brave face. They never set my fx as the x-rays show. These antisocial men who belittle others are actually living in fear of being found out they are incompetent in every way.

I really hear what she is saying. My grandchildren are biracial, black/white. My grandchildren have not yet experienced racial issues, however I have no doubt at some point it will rear it's ugly head. My daughter and son-in-law have prepared themselves as well as they know how to deal with it. But the hurt it causes is palpable and so very unnecessary. It all starts with education, if not in the home, then in the classroom...but some lessons sadly are not ever taught, so the struggle continues...

The bullying has not changed. I think it is worse now. It is ashamed that the doctor singled you out. My daughter went to a classmate house teammates from her cross country team and the dad out of everyone there asked her where she was from and proceeded to say East St Louis. She proudly told him where which was a northern suburb of Chicago. Just the judgement is just crazy. She is in school in southern Illinois and has had a couple issues. Nothing has changed if anything it is worse.

You said the dad, he just sounds like ignorant garbage, not a dad, a true decent dad, wouldn't demean or allow for demeaning, no matter what,,he sounds like an exception, but not an affront to middleage older GenXrs,my generationX, Boomers and Silents, plenty of great people in those age groups, but it tends to be the older generations are more 'stupid that way' percentage wise.

I got bullied in school too the kids signed a petition against me my mom had to go to the school and the principal put a stop to it. I’m very depressed more than usual because my Pomeranian Wolfgang died at home on May 2 Nd I’m shattered. My daughter is so afraid that I’m gonna die from a broken heart so she bought me JOY FOR ALL dog on amazon . It has a heartbeat and barks and snores even holds a stuffed toy in his mouth. I put Wolfgangs tee shirt and bandana on him,it has helped me out very much so I hope this will help anyone grieving a family member my dog. I also am having a lady in Russia recreate Wolfgang in a stuffed animal I will be getting it in mid June. I miss my dog so much. Thanks for asking a beautiful woman of color about dealing with depression. I have to say the biracial experience helps lighten the trauma in Breana’s life. She has a “white” influence throughout her life that she obviously values, but cannot give the hardships of growing up with this dark cloud over your heart and mind and facing the daily challenges of being a minority in the home of the free and the brave.
Black people face hardship and most often are planted in teachings from church and love of a strong faithful mother. When depressed, notice liquor stores on every corner and drug houses.
This topic is not likely to fit in one segment of State Of Mind, but try to grasp the valuable people you meet who might speak on living Real Life and doing it through the heavy cloud of depression.
Thank you for being with me and others breaking through the cloud to shine for others to come through.😘🤩🙏🏾

We have to open our eyes and love one another

As much as I often miss Vinessa as the old Jordan Ashford, I actually like Briana. I connect Briana more to Jordan Ashford than Vinessa as well as the other lady who subbed for Briana. Briana took over the role of Jordan and owned it. At first I didn't like the recast but it goes to show some recasts really aren't all that bad after all!

Is that fucked up?

What happened to Briana is terrible. At my daughters school during black history month some black students were telling white students to tie their shoes. So I think racism goes both ways and I do believe racism starts at home.

I'm sorry great people like you and Donnell had to experience ignorance for the color of your skin 😢when both are so articulate, talented, and accomllished. I do believe racism starts in a home and either the children can follow path or not repeat it. I'm going to be honest here and say that the n-word bothers me as much when I hear a group of 10 black men all referring to each other as that, as when I hear a white person say it as they walked by the group of black men. It's a word that means ignorant and no matter whose mouth it comes out of I feel it's ignorant. My 15 year old nephew Johnny Jr. asked why his friends call each other that and I say to go tell them it hurts him bc He loves them and they are above that in all ways! None of them say it around me when I take them out for ice cream after and do things with them because they already know. LOL Maurice, you understand to some degree or you would be Mauricio Morales the star of general hospital because you would have made it anyway, but it's sad even 5%of you felt that❤🙏

It bothers alot of us too when other black peoples use it but at this point it’s cultural to us and it must be kept in the family

I get frustrated when everything is racial ...
I think kids and people are cruel regardless..
    bullying is everywhere
    Skinny bully fat
    Smart bully less intelligent
    Strong bully the more weak
People who hate Jesus (Christians) bully people who love Jesus and are Christians..
I could go on but bottom line is this
This world has lost the love of Christ and with out it there is hate
Let’s see what happens if we put God back into our country and not put each other down
On that note ... I hate the story line of sonny
I’m over it for real and I’m glad Curtis kicked Jordan to the curb.. I like him with the doc lol
    And dear goodness
Dante ugh no no no him and Sam I don’t like him

Yet you wanna dismiss and put down people's experience with racism and make some grand assumption everything is about race. This is Briana's interview and her life and experience not everybody.

You need to wakeup! Duh we know that people are bullied for different reasons, however Maurice and Brianna are speaking of their experiences with racism which you obviously know nothing about. Keep your opinions to yourself because who cares what YOU think. This interview is not about your bias view.

please educate yourself. racist exist and that’s what briana was bullied for. not for being skinny, not for being fat, not for being ugly, she was bullied for being biracial/black.... you sound ignorant
