There's been a lot of testing in the Starcraft community lately about Alphastar, a new AI who can compete at professional levels. While previous AI players had to be augmented by giving them unfair advantages like extra resources, this one wins legitimately with terrific micromanagement of individual units. I don't know if Carbuncle can be considered the same since he either predicts what pieces he'll get ahead of time or much like AI in many Yu Gi Oh games, will always get the Puyo/card they want. Or maybe they were just trying to emulate the animes that way. If you can, try playing Tetris Attack's story mode. Partway through, it throws you into a 'hopeless boss fight' against Bowser with a 'perfect' AI meant to humble you, but I've always wanted to see someone beat it (not sure if difficulty setting affects it, Very Hard mode is tough enough with the fights you're supposed to win).

I would argue Carbuncle’s strategy in Sun of repeatedly doing low chains is a better strategy than large ones. You get the game’s sun puyo for offsetting garbage while there’s some in your queue, so it maximizes the amount he can get. The sun puyos also increase damage, dealing more damage the later into the chain they’re cleared so it’s better for him to gain a backlog of sun puyos and then use them in his 1 chains to deal larger amounts of damage fast. Also I think part of the reason he’s so hard in Fever is that you play with 5 colors and he plays with 4. Yes really. In Sun you played with 5 and he played with 3.

But I personally didn’t enjoy Carbuncle’s “Ta-Da!” Over his original “Gu-gu!” Although, I personally really like Accord’s voice a lot. But that’s one dang terrifying of a teacher, a puppet, and a... thing. Yeah, I don’t remember Carbuncle ever being specified as anything... please refresh my memory, if there is a classification.

Alphastar and alphazero are op pls nerf
@@marketplierr XD The recreation of a human player will not be truly complete until you program Alphastar/Alphazero to randomly hurl crude/l33t insults.
@@WhiteFangofWar if you think the bowser fight was hard then you never played panel de pon, basically panel de pon was the original tetris attack the game was themed around original anime girls characters and of course with a original plot when the game got ported to english people, they though people would not like it and changed everything to be yoshi island theme whoever there is also other change in panel de pon the ais are WAY HARDER oh and as a extra, it have a extra fight compared to tetris attack and yes that extra fight is thousand of times harder than the bowser fight in tetris attack.
Carbuncle is like that one joke character in a game that has universe-destroying abilities for whatever reason.
I can now tell you carbuncle will one day rule over primp town.
True, true.

Puyo? Well this is a surprise, and a welcome one at that
7:32 - 7:35 Never thought I’d see *that* out of Professor Accord. 😂
11:32 You’d be surprised how many Raffina fans there are, if you look hard enough, especially amongst those who’ve only played Puyo Puyo Tetris.
Ms. Accord is... a very mysterious person.
(A reference to Ms. Accord's line in 20th Anniversary: "The Carbuncle is... a very mysterious creature.")
Mortal Kombat Trilogy? Instant like
I would argue Carbuncle’s strategy in Sun of repeatedly doing low chains is a better strategy than large ones.
Now, there's this guy named Wumbotize...
Who beat a machine designed to fucking destroy everyone in Puyo Puyo Tetris, has gotten the max amount of points in PPT MANY times, and even then his strong is Tetris.
But I see him being on this rabbit's level.
truly awesome, who here is a puyo fan?
Puyo. Puyo. 2.
I know you already did a video on that but imo it's harder than fever.
I don't even know how to make longer chains lmao
This whole game also qualifies for Leave My Ears Alone, good god
ua-cam.com/video/15OXO8cVSu4/v-deo.html
...can I get THIS Carbuncle as a summon?
Mass reflect is nice and all but *holy shit*
Edit: Just like Rivals AC, you had to win by exploiting an AI flaw (putting a few garbage puyos in the middle of his combo)
The best part of the carbuncle battle is the fact of the music playing is a speeded-up version from first floor of puyo puyo 2
This series is my fav
"We should be thankful that computers allow us to continue existing, because if there really was a war between humans and machines, I don't fancy our chances at all."
Who knows, maybe we ARE in a silent war already xD
It's explainable since "Has Bean" is the main protagonist in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
oooh they're the same as Popoitto! I still have the game for playstation, no idea where my parents found it, but I loved it so much (even if you can't save, kinda annoying)
So the hardest fight in the game isn't Satan himself, but a Carbuncle? Curse these cutesy games...
Carbuncle used to be Satan's pet, which explains a lot.
@@robertanderson9447 amd he can shoot an deadly beam from his forehead.
Even dark price was afraid to face him because of this beam
@@verarodrigues4090 Really? (Was it confirmed? (Like, in the Madou media?))
2:00 that is only half true
in games that timing is very important AI will have a massive advantage
but in games that don't even the best AIs cannot beat us (usually)
When he say'd "Ta-Da" i felt that
Thanks for giving me an Idea of a ds game i can play
Fun fact abouy Puyo Puyo fever for the DS:
Changing the language to Japanese actually adds extra diffculty.
This is seen with certain characters like Raffina, Klug, Arle, Amite, and Ocean Prince.
If I may ask, what's your source?
@@nuggetpotato5471 My personal experience. Granted, take it with a grain of salt. But test it with the characters said above and their drop speed is actually lowered. I do THINK there's a video. But I have no source. So feel free to prove me wrong.
@@ZZelto guess I'll try it at some point
@@ZZelto Raffina 's drop speed seems to be the same on both languages
Oh god Carbuncle.... still have PTSD flashbacks of facing him in the DS version. I actually ended up doing a few two chains, then building a 3 chain and trying to time the drop for when his stack was just at the top of the screen to snipe kill him.
I don't think I could ever play these games, keeping track of all that stuff on screen at once that quickly is something I would need an entire second brain to do.
has he played the japanese snes super puyo puyo 2 it makes me so mad it is hard
If you didn't mention Gen 1 AI in Pokemon should've. Sure it can be really dumb, but it can also be incerdibly smart.
If we are talking pokemon ai, then the battle tree ai is probably the most devilish
@@someguy764 Oh yes.
ah yes , gen 1 AI. The only AI in the pokemon series that would spam agility against a poison / fighting type pokemon because "it's super effective"
@@katuron9245 Such wisdom from the cutest Pokemon alive.
I wouldn't call it 'smart' if it cheats. The computer knowing when your sleep is going to wear off and using the next sleep move on the same turn is pretty BS.
And so, the last words the pervert in white ever heard before heatstroke overwhelmed him were "goo goo goo", while the last words Rulue's French-speaking ripoff ever heard under similar circumstances were "ta-da!" Arle Nadja wondered if this had anything to do with the fact that Carby belonged to the Dark Prince once, and marveled that her pet was using just 1% of his true power to take down these supposedly unbeatable opponents. But she had little time to ponder all this...some group known as Warner Bros. was coming to Primp Town soon, and Carby's next opponent was a man named Shaggy, who was also supposedly secretly a god capable of destroying worlds. She had to get Carby ready...

oh dude, Raffine used to be my favorite. It's been more than ten years and I still suck at this game tho
I never saw Raffina as a bitchy tsundere.
I guess that makes two of us~
Found out where that puyo puyo decapitation image is from, noice.
I get Kirby vibes from him. He's cute, and to someone unfamiliar with Puyo lore, like me, he would look pretty harmless.
Then you go against him and it just falls apart from there.
Like, did this guy take notes from Kirby or something?
He somewhat has similar powers to kirby he ate a whole store and gulp it down to nothing that isn't a joke by the way 😅
Of course compile's mascot had to be META...
I can't believe I'm getting into puyo puyo right now after this video
Carbuncle makes me want to throw it down the stairs, hit it with an HP attack, then use a better Carbuncle to reduce its Bravery to 0 before my Bravery starts recovering.
Yukari : ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT ?
The secret final boss of the Asian difficulty setting
I don't have any experience with the Puyo Puyo series outside of Puyo Puyo Tetris and the original SNES game, so it's cool to see some of the other games in the franchise like this!
Genesis*. Puyo Puyo debuted on the Genesis. (Only its competitive puzzle game, because singleplayer modes debuted in Puyo Puyo for MSX2 and Famicom)
The first Puyo game I ever set my eyes on was 20th anniversary. I got used to the voice acting there. I heard the English voice acting for Puyo Puyo Tetris. I enjoyed it.
But the one of Fever. I didn’t have high expectations. It actually exceeded my expectations.
Who is this gift: good thing that computers allow humans to keep existing
Me: if fairly sure you just jynxed us
Oh yes, I missed the "Gu's" 14:26
I tried playing a very hard run of puyo pop fever on a rom with only winning after continuing on specific numbers like the video said and got to carbungle and it took me about 5 hours of countless atempts to finally beat him but i beat him by out chaining him. Curious about how many attempts this took in the video to beat carbungle on very hard.
Accord commits amnesia to look innocent
Carbuncle: The god of Puyo Puyo Sun and Fever.
Imagine facing Arle in this game. Maybe she's got a Praetor Suit after kicking Ma'Oh's teeth in.
Honorable mention would be Popoi. He is already a complete bastard and I feel like the AI cheats because he always knows exactly where to place everything to instantly build at least a 5-chain. Carbuncle somehow manages to be worse.
3:20 Which game is this picture from? I gotta know now
Madou Monogatari II.
@@whoisthisgit thanks
I wonder why would they put such brutal ai in a puzzle game?
It's a puzzle game, natural.
Because that's where they can get away with it.
Don't get me wrong, but Carbuncle is arguably the toughest opponent you'll ever face in Puyo Puyo Fever
