I remember when I finished Sonic Battle for the second time (years after my first time). I went straight to you Cream video to comment about how powerful she is in this game. Glad you gave her the spotlight again ^^
I mean, Emerl is basically Omnitrix: The Robot. He's legit one of the stupidly OP characters in gaming, and even with a limit of skills to equip, he doesn't actually stop absorbing them, since he canonically absorbs skills from whatever it is he sees/fights against/deems Link-worthy. Although, for that 14:14 part, I mean, there should defiinitely be Characters Only competitions without Emerl (or if you want to play as your Emerl, just keep all the colors but equip all the skills to this or that character), and Emerls Only competition where everyone gets to fight with their own Emerl combos. It would be fair, since everyone would have the same ability to mix and match skills: you'd just have to ban skill combos that are designed to be exploits, create a banlist based on tournament results and used strategies, and it would work. Ugh. I'd love to see a fresh version of this game with that possibility.
I can always appreciate a mention of _Power Stone,_ that series was rad as hell! Sadly underrated though these days, but hopefully one day we'll get that next sequel!
This is perhaps the only Sonic game I truly liked, and of course it had to be the one that made me feel feelings. I thought the first time, that Sonic would just beat him and he'd be fine and happy ending for all. But no. Emerl dies. And it hurt so bad when I played the game a second time - when Emerl calls out for everyone as he overloads, crying in pain, calling Amy "Mom".
I dont know if too many people know this but the game gives you one of the most useful moves in the game at the start. Emerl's broken Sonic Set special may not put a bomb down but its spamable, quick and can lock the A.I in an air juggle. Instead of a bomb you have another physical atk and the Ichikoro OHKO still works. Oh and the move is unblockable (or the a.I is just to stupid to block it lol)
I personally think stock Air Shot is better. It consumes the gauge, but it's stock Emerl's strongest move and 5 hit KOs(at most) anyone. You only need quick movement options to reposition yourself in the air again after landing every hit to prevent counterattack and you're good. Edit: It's also impossible to auto-guard.
It's interesting to see game-Emerl. I'm not familiar with this game, so up until now, I've only seen anime-Emerl, as he appears in Sonic X. Spoilers ahead, for Sonic X! It's funny to see you mainly talk about Cream and Emerl in this vid, and the fact Emerl outclasses even Cream and Shadow, considering in the anime Cream was the one who ended up destroying Emerl once he lost himself (and well, the circumstances were pretty different overall). It was all the more sad since the poor bunny had to kill someone who became probably her best friend. Man, that anime is a rollercoaster of emotions. It can induce such a rapid succession of joy and sadness... I don't care if people don't like it. I love it. Sure, it has flaws, but most shows do anyway. But well... you'd have to watch it uncensored, unaltered, and obviously in japanese (there is a subbed version you can hunt down) - I mean, if you wan't it uncensored and unaltered, you don't really have a choice, you can't watch any dub. It's really great.
The parallel makes total sense, as Cream grew very close to Emerl during her own chapter and Gemerl, Emerl's "reincarnation robot" currently lives with her and her mother.
@@SAINTAX_ERROR Yeah... Interesting trivia about that: in the original japanese version, he cries oil - with him being a robot and all. But in the western releases, they replaced it with actual tears - not only it makes less sense, but he's actually underwater at that point, so the tears, if actual tears, shouldn't really be visible, as opposed to oil tears
Metal Sonic: Mwahaha! I am the ultimate mechanical deity, capable of analyzing and copying the abilities of Mobius' strongest fighters, transforming and surpassing them! Super Emerl: brah you need to chill
And when you think everything is chaotic, you get the "Character Combo" cards These cards that do an entire combo (seriously, like 15+ hits or something) capable of KO-ing every enemy. Also you can use the combo with the Ichikoro bar at its fullest to cause *every single hit of the combo* to 1-hit KO. Each hit causes the "lightning" effect and Emerl continues to hit the enemy even they are completely dead. Straight up cruelty xD
It's so overkill it's actually a terrible idea, since your opponent can respawn while you're still doing your combo and punish you when you're done. The only good part is that besides the finishers for some combos, the entire special is impossible to auto-guard, so it's at least a guaranteed kill.
It's also very worth saying that many of Emerl's ultimate basic attacks have other character's specials incorporated on them -- and those can and WILL kill you instantly if his Ichikoro gauge is filled up, and those attacks won't reset it back to empty.
I forgot all about Sonic Battle, it's one of my favorite Sonic games! I had a Gargantuan Gaming Gaffe of my own when I played it back in the day. I didn't know you could customize Emerl's moveset, so I played the whole first half of the game with default Emerl
@@robertanderson9447 As I recall, I just spammed Ground Power, and if they blocked Power, I spammed his air attack. I think I got up to the final battle of Knuckles' story before getting stuck. I was like 7 so I don't remember too well lol
Takes forever to kill, tho. I like Tails' better. Cream is still the greatest character against the CPU due to her absurdely overpowered spammable specials.
I'm not sure if you count his as legit, but in Emerl's story, you can put in special passwords, (how you originally were supposed to find them, I have no idea) and get special Ultimate Combo skill cards. If you can nail the opponent with the first move, the rest is pretty much strong enough to one-shot them. Just don't do it to Gamma XD
An extra:emerl is one of the gizoids,if all the tribe could be as powerful as him you could easily have an army of thousand star buster, and if optimized, solar system buster soldiers.
If we take AI flaws away from the matter, then actually Eggman is way, *way* more powerful than ultimate Emerl. Ultimate Emerl may have incredible movement and power and all that, but Eggman's missiles are an infinite range undodgeable projectile that can 0 to death you if spammed. If the AI did nothing but spam the attack button he'd be entirely unbeatable. Seriously, try putting in a gameshark code to play as Eggman, and you'll see how astoundingly powerful he is in this game. (Honestly I always thought that the 2nd Eggman fight was the toughest fight in the game anyways, so......)
If this is how powerful Emerl is now, remember this: Using the Chaos Emeralds, getting to other universes isn't out of the question. Imagine how powerful he'd be able to get if he got a hold of, say, Bayonetta's time slowing, Sora's leaf bracer, and Shulk's visions.
I think you need actual control to be able to use the Emeralds' best abilities(super form, Chaos attacks and Chaos Control). Emerl is just using them as a power source and is completely out of his mind, so I don't think he can actually do the crazy stuff Super Sonic and cia can.
@@themustachioedfish5988 Good point. If he saw someone actually going super, then he could use their chaos powers, but since he is in possession of the Emeralds to go Ultimate, that is not happening that easily.
Helps to differentiate them more, plus shadow has the disadvantage of not being able to turn around or accelerate quickly which might not seem like much but it makes a big difference when things get hectic and you need to quickly get away.
I think they tried to make Sonic the "basic balanced character" which is good at everything and overhyped Shadow with very powerful moves and amazing speed. It's still not totally against Sonic, however, as Shadow has very poor direction control and his attacking moves usually have very long startup or recovery, while Sonic's specials, while not nearly as strong, are just much better overall Edit: They both got trash shields and recovery tho.

I miss this game! I have a suggestion for Creepy Bad Endings; I watched people playing a game called Bugsnax, & despite how cute the game is, it is actually horrifying, mostly because of the ending: Throughout the game, you'll come to love each Grumpus (main character), because of their personalities & life-issues. However, the island utopia they have moved into isn't safe at all: at the end of the game, you learn that the adorable Bugsnax are evil parasites, & they begin attacking Snaxburg, the safe village! So, the Grumpuses (main characters) have to flee the island before the Bugsnax turn them into Bugsnax themselves. The process of how they turn them into Bugsnax is what's disturbing; they force-feed themselves into a Grumpuses' mouth, & if a Grumpuss eats too many, they turn into a living corspe made of food, self-doubt themself...& collapse into pieces like a dead rotting zombie! Worst of all, ANYONE CAN DIE! The ending is also depressing if someone dies. Also, I used to have that same Sonic Advance & Battle double pack, but it went missing 🙁

Ugh. I'd love to see a fresh version of this game with that possibility.
i instantly recognized the thumbnail from sonic battle
memorable character
:(
Impressive
Yep. Although that's Sonic Channel art IIRC.
I was quite fearful of it being a Sonic Chronicles video, but thankfully it was Sonic Battle.
I can always appreciate a mention of _Power Stone,_ that series was rad as hell! Sadly underrated though these days, but hopefully one day we'll get that next sequel!
Sonic: "GOTTA HEAL.... slow :'("
I actually passed over Sonic Battle because I heard everyone saying it was bad, but now you've convinced me to give it a shot! Thanks Git!
People generally say the story is the main draw of the game. The battle system is fun. Not the best, but good enough.
Soooooo
Smeargle if Smeargle could steal decent stats alongside moves
Kinda. He's more like that DC character, Amazo. An Android who can copy powers.
Ditto?
This is perhaps the only Sonic game I truly liked, and of course it had to be the one that made me feel feelings. I thought the first time, that Sonic would just beat him and he'd be fine and happy ending for all. But no. Emerl dies.
And it hurt so bad when I played the game a second time - when Emerl calls out for everyone as he overloads, crying in pain, calling Amy "Mom".
I feel u so much
I just wanted to say that this are the best videos to watch if you can't hear. They convey emotions really well through your text and format.
My Boi Gemerl is finally getting the love he deserves. I am genuinely thankful for this vid
Edit: It's also impossible to auto-guard.
i love this game and emerl is defo my favourite part of the entire thing purely because i like customizing whatever i can customise in a game
I knew this video will be made eventually.
Pfp checks out
It's interesting to see game-Emerl.
@@uandresbrito5685 Oh I see! Thanks for the trivia! Yeah, it's makes it even more interesting!
If i remember well, the last skill that emerl learn in the anime was crying from cream
@@konoikurozora5851 maybe its to symbolise that he became "human"
Metal Sonic: Mwahaha! I am the ultimate mechanical deity, capable of analyzing and copying the abilities of Mobius' strongest fighters, transforming and surpassing them!
Super Emerl: brah you need to chill
liked for line at 1:06, you are absolutely right
Brings back good memories
And when you think everything is chaotic, you get the "Character Combo" cards
These cards that do an entire combo (seriously, like 15+ hits or something) capable of KO-ing every enemy.
Sonic battle,a fun game in which all the characters are unbalanced.
How did you get that far with default Emerl, that's insane
@@robertanderson9447 As I recall, I just spammed Ground Power, and if they blocked Power, I spammed his air attack.
I think I got up to the final battle of Knuckles' story before getting stuck. I was like 7 so I don't remember too well lol
Out of the characters that aren't Emerl.
Rouge is quite cheesy to play with due to her aerial kick being very spammable.
Takes forever to kill, tho. I like Tails' better. Cream is still the greatest character against the CPU due to her absurdely overpowered spammable specials.
sonic ring is better than that because its fast and strong
Sonic deadass has an infinite combo. Most characters have one. It's hilariously busted and I love it.
I love this game and your videos!
oof, talk about a tough fight. also, thanks for making me remember of sonic satAM, that show was amazing ^^
An extra:emerl is one of the gizoids,if all the tribe could be as powerful as him you could easily have an army of thousand star buster, and if optimized, solar system buster soldiers.
Oh my Emerl >< His theme Emerl Config is awesome until today :3
Underrated Sonic game
Overpowered Specials
I just started playing sonic battle and you're timing was prefect!!!!
@@uandresbrito5685 Of course, that's him as he is now. There's no reason he wouldn't be able to copy someone else's control over the Chaos Emeralds.
@@themustachioedfish5988 Good point. If he saw someone actually going super, then he could use their chaos powers, but since he is in possession of the Emeralds to go Ultimate, that is not happening that easily.
I still cannot understand why they decided to make Shadow faster than Sonic in this game. So much for being the "fastest thing alive."
It's still not totally against Sonic, however, as Shadow has very poor direction control and his attacking moves usually have very long startup or recovery, while Sonic's specials, while not nearly as strong, are just much better overall
Edit: They both got trash shields and recovery tho.
I didn't play this game when it was originally out. I played on my phone with an emulator two years ago (out of curiosity) and MAN DID I LOVE IT. I wish I didn't sleep on this game when I was a kid. Its a fun game with a fun story to.
Loved playing Sonic Battle, such a fun game and tons of memories
Oh hey, my favorite Sonic character! And probably one of my favorite charactes in general!
Fortunately for Sonic's claim to fame, one of the two "faster" characters alternates with him for the spot so often they're essentially tied, and the other one isn't exactly "alive".
Yooo, is that some Speed Freaks music I hear? Nostalgia! :D Sonic Advance (the whole trilogy, really) is also super nostalgic to me. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play Battle as a kid, but when I was a teenager I discovered emulators and I played it that way and I absolutely loved the game. :D Great video! It makes me want to play Battle again though...
Really loved this game, great video, I learned a few new tricks watching it.
If this game gets a remake with more characters, it would be amazing.
Man, I loved blowing up the mean NPC who downed me. Self-Destruction was only a bit op.
13:43 yep you are right, imagine a Emerl with ridley down b
I cried when Emerl died :'(
Kirby can copy all basic b abilities in smash bros, but ridley and gannon can use their nigh unlockable b side, and then theirs banjo and kazooie with their priority zero flame charge, Steve/Alex/zombie/enderman with their build mechanics, and any aim fire final smash
I love battle. I mean REALLY love battle. I beat this game 5 times. I love this game to death as you can clearly see in my profile picture
3:14 - 3:23 Tails: I've been wanting to do this for years, Sonic!!
YESSSSSS finnaly emerl, he's just the best lad.
Oh damn, Sonic Battle? That has to be one of my most played Game Boy titles, right after Mario vs Donkey Kong! Great explanation of Emerl's abilities, hopefully this game gets a new boost of relevancy via emulators.
Rita Mordio in Tales of Vesperia was extremely broken dye to overlimit granting instant casting.
that was not broken... 'she is really broken when theyf ound the ring who spend 1 at whatever her magic
I personally prefer klaus (probably butchered the name) from tales of phantasia, with the pendant that reduced casting time you could spam summons faster than the oponent could react to and chain them until the battle is over.
Tidal wave, blah blah blah!
@@pepotras
That item was really handy
He may move slow, he can’t jump high,
But this bot gets better later on in the game
This game warrants its own Creepy Bad Endings video imho
It's just that bittersweet...
There's also Chaos Zero (who's just came back, somehow..), hits like a truck and has good range but it's the slowest character in the game by far.
Chaos is just a copy eggman made if i remember correctly
@@windy2478 I don't remember correctly(it's probably not even properly explained in the game, since the Chaos fight is just a bonus), but I remember they mentioning(yes, in this very game) that Chaos appears whenever there's some sort of disturbance going on, so no, it wasn't Eggman's doing in this game.
@@windy2478 nah chaos is his own thing in this game, slow, slightly longer range melee, hurts like a truck
Eggman in battle is unplayable normally and is just a projectile character
Sonic Battle. One of the most Underrated Sonic game series
Sonic Battle is pure nostalgia
I made up a tier list.
Anything Goes: Emerl
S: Sonic (Has an infinite), Shadow and Cream (Reasons other than this video, she has the fastest air mobility and the best dash attack in the game which confirms into anything, including another dash attack)
A: Tails (He has insane combo potential), Amy and Rouge
B: Knuckles and Gamma (If you know how to use their dashes to their maximum they're amazing, but nobody experimented with them yet)
Bottom tier: Chaos 0 (His combo one shots everybody but he's so slow he can't do anything without being demolished)
There’s a community discord for it
@@Heattokun There is? I wanna invite.
@@frost_sprite discord.gg/VcuHJRV
@@Heattokun Thank.
@@Heattokun There is an actual community tier list in there? Or is it just a Sonic Battle appreciation server?
Oh there's a thought. Emerl in Smash. Don't know why I never thought of it before, but now I kinda of want him there lol
Initiating recovery mode
That phrase won’t get irritating. (Sarcasm)
What a coincidence, I get into Sonic Battle again and Git uploads a Sonic Battle episode! What are the chances?
I have just one question: can you play as Emerl outside of story mode and with all his skills?
Yes, his skills in battle mode will be whatever you gave him in the story mode the last time you saved.
Thanks, that'll be good to know! I've been thinking about it for a while, but now I'm definitely going to try and get the game.
Git does Sonic Battle?,DUDE GIT MY MAN,YOU GET ANOTHER LIKE FOR THIS! 👌
This was so good! I had no idea this game existed.
I miss Sonic battle so much I constantly play it over and over
Ichikoro ...
Ichi = one in Japan
Koro ~> extended to Korosu = kill in Japan
so one-kill ~> one-shot or instakill
great work there, Sega! :v
Fun fact, because I played my cousins copy of this game and because I missed the tutorial for customizing him (apparently he did too lol), I ended up playing through this whole game with nothing but emerl's base moveset thinking that was just how he was supposed to play and it was only much later when I got my own copy of the game did I figure out you could customize his moves.
i love sonic battle so much, my emerl had the self destruct death and either gamma's heal or cream's heal i can't remember which, i love this game so much and should play it again. :)
Emerl is underrated
That binary code emerl used... does it actually mean something?
*Sega Scourge had entered the Chat*
I happy too see another fan of that chanel :)
Thing i like in this game is you can use the character right while sonics healing is slow with his speed you can get KO's quickly Knuckles while can be slow in attack when you use his healing guage right his ichokoro gauge fills up fast other characters are just amazing to use in the right way
You Become de BOSS! amazing
I literally saw Cream's video yesterday, what are even the odds?
GG
Some love for my sweet robo boy. I appreciate it.
Nice video and in case you are wondering no this game isnt really played competitevly as its preety simple mechanic wise with a small roster and big balance issues. However a tier list would look something like this:
SSSS:Emerl
S: Shadow
A: Cream
B+:Tails
B: Rogue, Amy, Sonic
C: Gamma, Knuckles
D: Chaos
Okay but club rouge is naturally relaxing
Speaking of mimics, Shang-Tsung from MK3 is still my favourite MK character to this day for being able to transform into everything (I think, I never discovered every transformation).
Iirc, Emerl can also acquire moves through certain codes enterable at some point in the game. These unlock special moves that are basically ohko if you land them.
So maybe this is where Bamco got the idea for Tekken Tag 2's version of Combot...
Super Emerl VS Vandalier Ash.
Emerl in Smash eh ? Guess he can mimic the ultimate chimera this way
I miss this game!
I have a suggestion for Creepy Bad Endings; I watched people playing a game called Bugsnax, & despite how cute the game is, it is actually horrifying, mostly because of the ending:
Throughout the game, you'll come to love each Grumpus (main character), because of their personalities & life-issues.
