First of all...Love, Love the shirt! LOL...thank you for wearing it. Your detail work is excellent and sourcing the foot pegs and finding out exactly what they are was genius...so much fun. Feel better my friend. I need my Thursday live fix!
I have been completely enjoying your video build log and following along. I’ve been working on my own Orca (a wood semi-scratch build/ conversion from what looked to have been an RC boat hull- slightly larger scale than this beautiful kit you’re using.....so it’s been a much larger undertaking than I thought). 😮😢I love how you’ve analyzed changes in boat features with respect to The ORCA during the filming of Jaws. Anyway, I’m not sure if anyone’s mentioned this but I’m also a big Game fisherman (More Marlin and Tuna in my younger years) and thought I’d mention that some Big Game boats actually have a fighting chair that is removable from the back deck while not in use for fishing. So the fact that it disappears and RE-appears at times could be explained, But I suppose it could be debated still due to the age of the Orca in the film as Quint’s boat is a vintage fishing boat? But it’s not absolutely out of the question that it could appear/disappear. What’s enjoyable is that building a detailed model is a bit like detective work...LOL. Beautiful job you’ve done and I wanted to thank you for giving me some detailing ideas that you’ve done on the mast and other places and taking the time to create this series of videos as I’ve been referring back to episodes over and over again! 😊 Kind Regards From So. Cal. ! Pat
Happy New Year to you and Mrs WOW. I think get it as close as screen accurate as you can and then add your Flare and personality in to it with all the continuity errors no one will no the difference LOL . that goes for you too Phil @SprueVerse
Please your looking much better Wayne, please pass my get well soon to Mrs Wayne and your son, The Orca build coming along great and, know you Wayne you will get over any problems you come across with this build Happy new year to you and your family Wayne take care and hope 2022 is a better for us all 😎 Ray
Looking good Wayne! You all take good care of yourselves. I'll sure be glad when this pandemic is bloody over with. Best wishes to you and your family.
Wayne it looks like a shot for the maritime flags to put on boats. And each payment was for a different reason. Get well soon you and all your family be safe and a happy New Year to you
1. Great to hear from you Wayne , I hope you and your 👪 family are back to 💯% soon. 2. The ORCA is looking really 👍 great ( the decking looks incredible ) this build will be a real jewel for your collection , I'm looking forward to the rest of the detailing 👍👁👁👍 Happy New Year to you and your family 🍷🎊 🎊 😄
Awesome build, looking good. The decal, if I'm looking at the right one you're trying to figure out, looks like it is a sea flag chart. Hope you and your family get well soon.
Yes it's the international Martine signal flag chat in 4 columns and 10 rows, based upon the placement of Uniform, Lima, Oscar and Papa. Can't tell if it is just list the phonetic chart or goes into the deeper meaning of each flag, such as dangerous goods onboard or man overboard.
Great update Wayne, Orca is looking good with fantastic level of detail. Just a helpful hint,if you've not already tried it, I use Molotow pens for silver or chrome detail work when i restore Corgi and Dinky models and it does a brilliant job too. Perhaps this will give you the finish you were looking for with the Alclad? The pen tips come in different sizes to get really fine details covered in a lovely chrome silver effect.Hope this helps. All the best for 2022 and hope yourself and the family get better soon.
It looks like flags for placing on the rigging to let other ships know, say "plague on board","ship in distress". A list of all the message flags and what they stand for. is what i think that is.
Something you could try that can be used to stick metal parts together "Bondic LED UV Liquid Plastic Weld" this one part that is cured by UV light. It only takes a few seconds to cure.
Wayne, I run into this issue all the time. You have to pick a single reference and go with it. The other way lies madness.. then if anyone gives you any lip, you pull out your reference and show 'em
Obviously There were 2 boats used. The orca, and the orca 2. Both boats weren’t exactly identical. Dimensionally they were. But the deck was replicated on the orca 2 with white caulking between the planks. The orca was originally converted from an actual boat called the warlock.
According to my sources they had around 16 boats used during the filming of the Jaws film, that's why so many continuity errors pop up, and Happy New Year Wayne and Mrs world of Wayne
Spielberg is notorious for having a lax attitude to continuity in his films. He is more interested in the flow of the action than the exact relationship of what you see on the screen. If he needs a certain shot, for example, he will remove an item from the scene to accommodate the set-up he wants and if it doesn't match the continuity he doesn't care that much. That is why you see props coming and going in scenes, and part of the set changing. Case in point with the Orca, the hatch/Fighting Seat binnacle disappearing or appearing in different shots or sequences.
the poster looks like the international flag signals with there meaning and i expect morse code. take care both of you get well soon and happy new year to you. Ps dose this mean Phoebi got to cook her own dinner.
This looks like you need to do a lot more work to it than a straight out the box,and I'm not sure that's for me lol if you have to drill and fill things etc :)
The original filming used a few boats so there will be differences also in the ones being 'eaten' by jaws the decking got repeatedly wet so would look darker so good news for us model makers with artistic licence... I have a full plans for a wooden build later in 2022 which I may do a video build on here... For the silver if you want airbrush metals AK do a good line of metals and mr colour do a good line of brush able metals which can be buffed up after
Hey Wayne, to include everything first off I say sorry you got that virus crap but hopefully you can get over it quick without much hassle.Next is welcome to Year 2022 and hopefully a Ton of New Builds to add to your Build Libraries this following year and beyond. Now as for the Orca project I wanna say I am mighty impressed with everything you have done and continue to do to it,and can't wait to see it completed. But quick question are you planning to add Captain Quinn and Sherriff Brody to the model the way you added Hooper in the shark cage one you did a while back?,it just doesn't seem right not to include them with it.Albeit I don't think there are actual figures of them in existence but you might could 3D Print them or use close-to-scale figures you could customize to look like them. But anyway I am excited to see your progress on this the next few months. For me personally Jaws was the one film that turned me into an ocean fanatic and want to one day explore the depths to see strange sea creatures very few have seen. But anyway Happy 2022 to you and your Family!!!
yep thats where you have all those people who sit there frame by frame of films maticulously tearing it apart and showing continuity problems or where they reused a section of film again. or a scene. the easter eggs the call backs now to previous films or other films. starwars is a notorious one for it terminator is another they tear apart the time lines... heres a good one for you to look for Wayne you love james bond films and i know you said you like roger moore but watch you only live twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and diamonds are forever all 3 have blofield in them which how could blofeild and bond not know each other in the middle one, but he chases him in the third. also a visual continuity in diamonds are forever when bond is running away in the moon buggy as the car chases him and rolls over you see a buggy wheel roll in front of the car on camera yet in the next scene hes still driving it around before abandoning it and attacking a guy on the 3 wheeler to get away while the others chase the moonbuggy. they happen to mention that in the DB5 build magazine. i watched it now and i cant help notice the wheel rolling away. but your not suppose to notice these things. like missing rungs or pipes or the color of the decking
another thing and phil knows about this being a director they sometimes film things out of sequence. sometimes the final scenes first just incase the actor might have something happen to them where they can do work arounds film making can be crazy

Hi Wayne, the mystery decal is a chart of maritime signal flags. Get well soon and Happy New Year
5 minutes into the video I realized that this is a small model orca build. I thought you are building an original size boat. That would be awsome.
5 minutes? What, are you slow in the head? Mental defect or something?
I also got a positive result 3 days ago, good thing there are your video's to keep me occupied, get well soon.

Happy New Year to you and Mrs WOW. I think get it as close as screen accurate as you can and then add your Flare and personality in to it with all the continuity errors no one will no the difference LOL . that goes for you too Phil @SprueVerse

It looks like flags for placing on the rigging to let other ships know, say "plague on board","ship in distress". A list of all the message flags and what they stand for. is what i think that is.
thats what I was going to say. it's a directory of flag warnings "Hurricane" etc...
Agreed
Health and safety notice?
Suggestion to prime large scale models for painting.. aerosol can for cars? Bit grainy maybe but should be OK as a primer. Should speed things up :)
I think it's either the meaning of flags or a semaphore chart.
Something you could try that can be used to stick metal parts together "Bondic LED UV Liquid Plastic Weld" this one part that is cured by UV light. It only takes a few seconds to cure.

Lol. It’s funny. The more I focus on an area the more discrepancies I find lol
Wayne I don't know If Is a help to you but If I have to paint In a really small area I use a q tip, to get a really straight edge In a small area
