Great video, I envy your patience. These videos must be hard to make, but are well worth it. I have no doubt, that you're getting a lot of people interested in faceting.
I hope that I am giving useful information to new gem cutters. There were others before me that helped me, I am glad to 'give back' to the community of gem cutters.
@@BOPIESDiamondsFineJewelry Hello, Being in the industry, I'm sure you have a lot of connections and know where to buy specific items. I have been wanting to buy my daughter a lot of cheap faceted gems to fill her treasure chest with. There are so many people selling like items online and these days. You can never trust what you see. Could be glass, plastic, or simply just not get anything. If you would please respond at your earliest convienence, I would love to speak with you. Thank you...
@@nickfrost9771 Hi Nick! Take a look at at our website bopies.com and see if any of our loose gemstones catch your eye! If so, you can contact us through the website and we can discuss pricing and purchase options.
Thank you. I buy my laps from various sources. Toppers come from Amazon or Ebay...or a lapidary store. Batt's come from Gearloose, but now Ultra Tec will be producing and selling them. Copper and Tin...from whichever Lapidary store has them. the 3K I use is from Gearloose.
I don't get involved in the sales part of the business. My wife, Bopie, runs the Jewelry Store. But, it would depend on the gem material, size, and gem design. Just contact Bopie ad she will assist you with an estimate.
Yes, it is a little below what you should expect. Planning about a 20% return on up is normal. But if you have internal issues/inclusions, you have to decided...do you want a bigger finished stone that has inclusions or a smaller finished stone that is internally clean??? Your preference to those questions will determine how much 'waste' you have in your rough.
@@rebelcave8556 Yes, and by looking at color, some Apatite looks like the finest Paraiba. But, Aquamarine and Topaz polish very differently. One can be polished with Cerium Oxide and one with Aluminum Oxide. If anyone still had a doubt, of course you could check the R.I. with a Refractometer....and of course you could look for the tell tale sign of perfect cleavage that Topaz has, but Aqua doesn't have. So it is true the color of this gemstone closely resembles the color of some natural blue Topaz...but it is definitely not Topaz.

You are very welcome. Note that I got the tips from others, I didn't 'invent' any of the tips I show. :-)
WOW! I love crystals and gemstones! About how much is it for you to do gem cutting?

That was an Impressive cut, but 2.6 ct out of a 17.3 ct stone was not fair, I expected more then that

I’m not too sure how to take that as well.
How is that an aquamarine? Looks like an untreated topaz.

Omg. Lose many carat! omg .
Yes, most non-cutters are surprised when they learn the normal loss of carat weight in cutting a gemstone.
