    谢谢老师。Great lesson. I'm noticing so many different ways to say "excuse me". I did watch the video on it, but even so, I keep discovering more ways and circumstances for them. When I visit China, I have "Everyday Chinese" to thank for being able to communicate properly.
    You have no idea how much I love, admire and respect the Chinese culture and people and to me, this language is so beautiful. I am so proud to be able to speak it, because of this channel, I am able to, keep up the great work! ❤

    Thank you SO much for saying
    the words & sentences SLOWLY.
    It is a challenge for me to pronounce some words.
    Hearing it said SLOWLY and with REPETITION helps tremendously!
    Some tutors don't seem to realize that sometimes we have never ever heard words spoken... rather baby steps initially, because to "unlearn" a wrong way of saying something is difficult.

    In China you would not know that if you go into a Chinese restaurant in the US, you must first ask the waiter or waitress if it is OK for you to speak Mandarin. Most Chinese restaurants in the US are run by people who speak Cantonese. If you just start speaking in Mandarin you embarrass them because they can not understand you but they feel that they should. Only about half the Chinese restaurants I have been in even have a Mandarin speaker. But if she is the grandmother, she will come out and talk to you.

    • @petehoover6616
      @petehoover6616 9 місяців тому

      @@ethanpunto9222 May I complain? I am trying to learn Mandarin and I have to watch Xiaoma just about with the sound of, constantly telling myself "don't listen to him'" because there isn't a match between the sounds he makes and the Chinese captions. For me the trap is that I'll hear a word he says and match it to a written word underneath that I think sounds like what he's saying. And it will stick in my head. Made with Lau doesn't present the same problem and don't know why. He sounds like my great grandmother, who live in Hong Kong in 1910-1912. Until I heard Mr. Lau I didn't realize my great grandmother had a slight Cantonese accent.
