That was brilliant! What metal are you melting to fill the crack? Pewter? Silver?
Beautiful work. And yes, it can start like that. I built a pallet wood table about thirty years ago and it came out far better than I would have imagined. I have built many since then, mostly incorporating reclaimed wood and my own metal work. Table making can be kind of addicting.
