As a lecturer for b2b marketing I find this video extremely useful. I am glad I found this resource and plan to use it in my teaching. Porter's value chain is an old concept and it is clearly modelled on a traditional firm that manufactures hardware. It would be a useful complement to explain how the VC applies to service industry.

For an online retail company where buyer roles buy products from brands to sell on the market place(eg:Amazon) , would this (retail buying) be a primary or secondary activity? It's slightly different than procurement as this requires analysis of customer purchase behavior, competitor offerings et al and is most critical to retail success. My view is that it's a primary one. 2. Can you supplement this example with one from the service industry? 3. Can this framework be used to prioritize talent management initiatives? That is prioritize investment for roles associated with primary activities
