- Arabesk is a music genre unique to Turkey - almost as old as the country itself. It was suppressed, then celebrated, and now it's ingrained throughout Turkish culture. But where did it come from, and why was it so controversial? Compass goes to Istanbul to find out what arabesk means to Turkey today.

Very enlightening. I'm doing research now on Turkish songs using legendary Arab composer Farid El Atrache compositions. I have found 10 so far. Muslum Gurses, Zeki Muren, Ferdi Tayfur, and more.

Arabesk is not our culture, just like western music is not our culture. We have our own Turkish instruments, poets and songs.

It is our culture. That's all. It can be similar to other cultures. It does not mean it does not belong to us. All cultures similar to each other and affect each other.
@@schicksal4953 He probably thinks Arabesk music looks like Arabic music but it makes no sense. Arabesk music is our culture. Even instruments in this music kind are our traditional instruments :)
All cultures look like each other. If it looks like a music genre of another culture, It does not mean it id not our culture.

Koskoca Ferdi Tayfur nasıl yok burda. Bunu hangi akıllı hazırlamış. Gereksiz hakkı bulut bile var sanki ne başarısı varmış gibi. Ayıp ayıpppp
Ferdi Tayfur un 12 milyon gişe rekoru kıran çeşme filmi , 200.000 kişilik Gülhane konseri , Kral TV de 60 hafta yayınlanan Emmoğlu klibi şarkısı , çoğu şarkısını beste söz müzik kendisine aittir. Daha bir çok rekorları var. Bunlar Türkiye de hangi sanatçıda şarkıcıda var. Bu videonun düzeltilmesi lazım.

I am making a video of Turkish songs using Farid El Atrache compositions. I have found 12. But i am guessing there might be 50+ if I combed through every Turkish song.
Arabic is prophet Ismaiel and Muhammad peace be upon them and their straight righteous children but those who talk aeabic now aday are fake Aarab not Arab
