Partners in song, not in life. No question there's affection between them, they partnered on a couple of songs for her album Cry Like A Rainstorm, Howl Like The Wind, and the vocal chemistry is fire.
It always makes me laugh when people assume that a couple singing a love song together must be a couple. The same assumptions aren't made about two people in a movie, even if they're in a passionate love scene. Well, not counting "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" that is.
I’m not a big fan of mushy tunes, but these are two incredible artists. Tip: try the Neville Brothers “Yellow Moon”. Talk about a groove. You’d love drumming to this band.

I will happily watch any and every Ronstadt reaction, just don’t ask me to pick a song. She’s a performer that the one she did yesterday was as good as the song she did today, if you get my meaning. Different Drum, 1967, was my introduction to Linda, and every song and album regardless of genre/style was at least as good as the last one she did. Although I will say her three albums with the Nelson Riddle orchastra is a good place to start. As are the albums she did with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. As would her Gilbert and Sullivan opera “pirates of penzance”. Rock, country, folk, opera, RnB, torch singing/songs, I definitely recommend the Ronstadt Biography “the sound of my voice”. In it she talks about being in naw lins and being taken to an aaron neville show and telling the person she was with, “I have to do a song or two with him, do think he’ll work with me”. I paraphrased a bit.
Linda was the voice of our generation she sold packed stadiums like Jagger. Linda has never married now in her 70's and can no longer sing. Still beautiful. Please check out more of her songs, she is strong and you are right, voice of an angel 😇
You're so right about how effortlessly Linda sings. And she could sing anything. Rock, pop, country, jazz, Latin. One of the most beautiful duets in popular modern music. Linda Ronstadt, unfortunately, no longer sings, but she has one of the most lovely voices in music. Don't get me started with Aaron Neville!!
Aaron Neville has the most amazing voice! Though he is from New Orleans, his style of music and singing is not cajun (very far from it). He and his brothers were in the R&B/funk/soul music realm and all are/were fantastic artists! Loved the reaction, Chod. Would love to see you react to more from Aaron! As someone else mentioned, his Christmas album is great.
I grew up on Carrollton Ave. in New Orleans and I have distant family in Bayou Lafourche (Cajun Country), and if you are really Cajun, you know there are almost no Cajuns in New Orleans. They're all way out in the parishes outside of Orleans Parish. There is ALMOST NO ONE in New Orleans whose music and singing are Cajun, it's not just Aaron Neville. Unless a zydeco band drove into New Orleans from somewhere else in Louisiana, you wouldn't hear Cajun music in the city. It's funk and blues and R&B and jazz and rock and some bounce. People that aren't from Louisiana often get Cajun and Creole confused; they think they are the same people that do the same things, and that's not the way it is at all. The only thing they have in common, really, is that both groups used to speak French. I'd imagine that if you asked Aaron Neville what his ancestry is, he would proudly tell you he is Creole. I see you have it as part of your online name, so none of what I've written is news to you if you are indeed Cajun.
This was performed at the Grammy’s…When Aaron and her recorded this…he told Linda “see you at the Grammy’s”! They were not a couple, though they definitely had affection for each other. So glad you did this one! Aaron Neville has a gorgeous, slow vibrato and a uniquely beautiful voice. His band, the Neville Brothers, were a legit Cajun band out of Louisiana and did some great zydeco music (a regional style that sounds like a mixture of jazz and reggae). Linda does a lovely duet with Hoyt Axton on Lion in the Winter. He was so smitten with her that he forgot what they were going to sing, and she had to tell him. And it was his song.

Aaron Neville is/was a member of The Neville Brothers who were founded in New Orleans in 1977. You want some good music with great beats? Check the song Hercules and see if you can follow that pocket! :)
They weren't ever romantically involved just great respecters of each others talent. This is from one of her best later albums "Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind". Linda sings an achingly beautiful version of "Adios" on it where she finds so many layers in the lyrics.
This song is magic. They are dynamite together. They weren’t a couple that I ever knew of but they just sold this song & made you believe it. It’s a shame that both of them are unfamiliar to so many people today.
It's pronounced "NEV'-uhl." Check out the song he released in 1967 that put him on our radar: "Tell it Like It Is." Linda and Aaron dated for a while, but Linda admits she just wasn't cut out for marriage.

It’s so good and really highlights the effortlessness of her singing like you’re saying. She and Aaron Neville were never a couple, just very good, caring friends. She had many close friendships and was and is highly respected in the music industry.
Aaron Neville is/was a member of The Neville Brothers who were founded in New Orleans in 1977.
You want some good music with great beats?
Check the song Hercules and see if you can follow that pocket! :)
Aaron has a beautiful Christmas album. One of the best songs is Please Come Home for Christmas
Absolutely! Don't forget Aaron's version of O HOLY NIGHT....it's transcendent!
Yes I have been suggesting this to other reactors, but so far no one is responding to it, hopefully you will be the first one to start doing it??
@@jasonrichardson1208 great choice Aaron Neville’s Soulful Xmas album, the whole album is great, best album besides the Carpenters one I got!

❤❤❤❤❤
They weren't ever romantically involved just great respecters of each others talent. This is from one of her best later albums "Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind". Linda sings an achingly beautiful version of "Adios" on it where she finds so many layers in the lyrics.
Please do Linda Ronstadt "Long Long Time". Gorgeous song melody and performance. Studio version please.
She says they are musical soulmates.
You should check out Linda Rondstadts version of the Roy Orbison song, Blue Bayou, sometime. It's truely amazing.
Aaron Nevilles' Christmas album is a nostalgic treasure as well.
For me, Aaron Neville is just about the best singer I've ever heard. In that performance, it was definitely Aaron Neville who shone, though obviously Linda is brilliant.
The Neville's are musical royalty here in New Orleans.
You need to also check out The Neville Brothers stuff too! They are one great New Orleans rock based Family Band. They bring the gumbo to rock and roll!
FIRE 🔥!
