- Whether you’re an old returning player or not, in this video I’ll explain how you can navigate through the myriad of item sets that have been released since the launch of Maplestory so that you can choose the gear set that is most optimized for your character class and budget!

I've been playing MapleStory for quite a few years and I've always contemplated if I should try to make a UA-cam video. I never had the confidence to make one because I had all these doubts and worries in my head. But since the quarantine, I've been thinking and reflecting more on what I want to do with my life (I'm just a broke college student lol), and I decided to stop shrinking back in fear of judgment or failure and to just do what I love to do!
I learned the very basics of Premiere Pro in a day and recorded everything on my 4-year-old laptop and my phone mic haha. So this is my first ever attempt at using video editing software, and I hope you guys can leave me some feedback for improvements in the feature!
I hope I can not only provide entertaining gameplays and strategies that I may have picked up over the years but also to use this channel as a medium to be able to express more of myself and encourage my viewers to also become better versions of themselves.

Hey guys, just a small error I made in the video. The current BiS belt is actually a 22* Dreamy Belt from HLucid. A 15* Tyrant belt is better than a 22* gollux belt, but the Dreamy Belt is even better than the tyrant belt when it's paired with the pitched boss set. I can go over more details on different accessory sets in a future video. Thanks!
Is it possible for you to make a mule equipment progression video please? As I am an on and off player and everytime I return, I get dumbfounded on what equipment to give my mules
If maplesea does infact get a unique equip superior pendent then sup belt would be bis. If they implement that in GMS then same thing for us.

This was so helpful for me. I didn't understand how mismatching set bonuses was effective; now I do. I just got back into maple about 2 months ago after not playing since before big bang. And back then, I never got a character past lvl 150 or so. So I have never come across these equips before now. Thanks for making an easy to understand video about this. Currently though, I’m going to try making guides that are relevant for both reg and reboot servers, such as potential guides, v matrix, etc.
Thanks for sharing your insights on the best gear for budget and class. I love it. As I play a Demon Avenger, I chose to stick to full Absolabs set gaining 10% HP and losing +10ATT compared to having 3 Chaos Root Abyss set.
Toby Teng By full absolab set, did you include the overalls? Using overalls for any kind of set is actually not very beneficial because you’re loosing out on a whole extra item that you can scroll and have multiple lines of % potential on it.

It would be really helpful if the written name of sets was put in the description with time stamps for when you talk about them. I'm a returning player but I've never gotten into the upper level range until now and all the names your mentioning are completely foreign to me.

A couple questions (for regular servers):
1. Is there an order for obtaining Absolab gear? Should I be prioritizing one over the other or does it not matter so long as I can get the set effect in the end?
2. How difficult/time consuming is it to obtain Absolab gear? Assuming I have the funds, should I just buy them from the auction house? How difficult would it be to solo the bosses?
3. What do you think about Tyrant gear (7-8 stars) for Xenons? Would it be better for them since they can take advantage of all 3 stats? Would it be better to just keep Tyrants instead of trying to get Absolab gear?

1. If the set that you're using includes the absolab weapon, I would prioritize the weapon. In any gear progression, I like to prioritize upgrading the SWE (secondary wep, primary wep, and emblem) because that's where a big chunk of range/damage comes from. It doesn't really matter the order after that as long as you get the set effect in the end.
2. You can decide to farm coins to buy the gear from the coin shops in Haven and Dark World Tree by doing the weekly quests to save up Grade A Energy Cores and Faint Stigma Spirit Stones and do Damien/Lotus every week with a guild to save up the Grade S Energy Cores and the Twisted Stigma Spirit Stones to be able to trade them in for coins. Depending on your luck farming the whole set requires 14 coins, so you're looking at anywhere from 7~14 weeks. If that's too long of a wait for you, you can always find ways to earn mesos and purchase them at the AH. For party play, people suggest floor 40 clearance of Mulong Dojo for Damien and floor 38 clearance for Lotus. For soloing these bosses, it really depends on your mechanics and how long you can survive. If you can solo Chaos Vellum in under 5 minutes, you can try to have a shot at soloing these bosses ~ Floor 43 of Dojo.
3. That's a really good point you bring up! I actually realized that after I uploaded the video haha but I think for Xenons the 8* tyrants are better optimized for Xenons because of the all stat compared to 17* absolab gear, but cost wise it can become very inefficient the more you want to upgrade beyond that point. If you have plans to further upgrade beyond 8* tyrants, then the added benefits sort of fall off compared to the cost of enhancement. You can prime your absolab or arcane gear to get all stat too. I think this question really depends on your budget.
1. It's been answered but I also would add that the glove might be prioritized next (after the weapon) since you are looking for %M/ATT potential lines, the only other piece of armour in the set that can roll this.
2. Absolab is muuuchh more accessible than Arcanes, since you can farm the cores and stones from Haven/DWT before lvl 200 and Lotus and Damien bosses (for the S cores and Twisted stones) are more accessible in game-progression than Lucid/Will. Could probably duo Lomien around 12.5-14k stat each?

Question: I wanna main a Hero. Do people recommend doing 2handed sword vs 1 handed sword + shield vs 1handed axe + shield. Would greatly appreciate any Hero Main's opinion. (whats best for the budget player)

The answer to this question can vary a little depending on which server you're in (normal servers vs. reboot) but generally, people go 1H sword/axe + shield over 2H sword/axe + rosary. 2H sword/axe will give you higher base stats and a higher ATT multiplier, but it has a slower base attack speed. The higher ATT speed from the 1H sword/axe has the potential to beat out the added stats from a 2H sword/axe because you will be dishing out more skills/min = higher dps.
The benefits of using a shield also include the fact that you can scroll and starforce the shields for more additional stat compared to your standard rosary secondary. However if you don't want to bother with scrolling and starforcing your shield, you can always opt to use a 2H sword/axe, try to get a +1 attack speed inner ability line, and use decent speed infusion, and monster park green potions to make up for the loss of attack speed.
Having the added attack speed from the 1H sword/axe is pretty desirable because faster attack speed can also mean faster reaction time to whatever moves bosses throw at you.
Definitely worth a sub and like, and maybe some shares. Thanks for the informative vid!

Thank you for the content, really useful..! SUBBED! however would like to confirm, as mentioned in the video, weapons with low base WA, should go for the 4 CRA + 5 Absolab Set. Please advise if this is the case for Nightlords XD... and also what other jobs based on your knowledge shuld go for the 4 CRA + 5 Absolab Set as well? TIA! :)
Yep NL's would benefit from the 4 CRA 5 Absolab set! Any class that has lower than 130 WA on their clean CRA weapons will benefit from this set.
A few things: as a returning player who is very lost atm, the knowledge and information this video provides is invaluable, which is great. Easy like.
I have some problems with the video quality though. I dont know if your mic is bad but you're mumbling a lot and it can be pretty difficult to hear what you're saying sometimes. Also the music only exacerbated the issue making it harder to hear. The music was a bad choice and I just wish you spoke a little more clearly. I really needed to know this stuff though so thanks for making this!

Great Video! I have abso wep but my tyrant cape is 8*. (Im a xenon). what route should I for? I also have a cvel helm ready to go as well so im open to any option but dont want to lose my tyrant cape
You can keep the tyrant cape for now bc all stats are great for xenon, but on the long run, other sets will be better once you aim for higher star force.

It’s a bind skill from Lucid Earrings! The only bind heroes can get is the 5th job skill.

Something I read from a few years back said that the chaos ra boss hats (cvel helm etc) only applied to the highest level set that you have equipped, so if you have abso/cra you would only get the abso set bonus. However idk if that's still correct nowadays.
It will count to both as long as you have at least three items from a set equipped!

Hi! Can I ask for dual blade do you recommend 2 cra weapon or 1 cra and 1 absolab weapon?
Up to you but I recommend the Sweetwater Katara if you want BiS Katara because it has 30% boss and 10% ied on it already.
Soooo im just trying to make legion mules to 200 quickly without having to try to get great sets like CRA which would be time consuming since it'll take 10 days + finding carries and I am trying to look for ways to get at least close to 500k+ range (which i find more efficient for training at 17x-200) asides from going the pensalir set ways + 6-9% lines with epic tiers on them. What else could I do, like what are gears that are obtainable from beginning without investing much on legion mules?
Hi I would like to check if 1 Acs weapon 2 Cra and 4 Absolabs + CVEL hat as lucky item so I can have 2 set effect for ACS , 3 set effect for Cra and 5 set effect for absolabs. Would this be more optimal ?

Go for it if it's cheap and affordable! Arcanes have massive base stats

Yep! A clean one handed axe has 197 ATT which is > than 170 ATT.

I know this is late to ask this on this video but can you explain why not just go full arcane? Isn't that the best/endgame? Or does having two equips (top and bottom vs overall) on overcome the possible benefits of having full arcane set?
Top + bottom will always be better than overalls bc of the extra enhancement slots and extra potential lines you can get with an extra equip!
on my main Shadower, I’m using arcane wep + cra top/btm + abso hat/shoulder/glove/cape/shoe
on my sub main Night Walker, I’m using cra hat/top/btm + abso wep/shoulder/glove/cape/shoe

I'm thinking of coming back to maple (I'm playing maplesea though) and I'm thinking of getting the 3 cra 5 absolabs set for my luminous as I found that a clean arcane shining rod is around $220 in my currency. Part of my justification is if I really get into maple I only need to swap in a arcane shining rod to run the next set you mentioned. Am I on the right track?
You would need to replace the cra hat with an absolab hat as well to keep the 5 set absolab set!

It sounds like it'll be best for me to get the 3 cra 5 absolab set ready and farm a absolab hat and arcane rod myself and use the funding on accessories and cubing instead. @@raylaowei1495 The plan sounds pretty solid to me! You can safeguard until 17* so yes, you'll need to farm spares if you're going to try star forcing beyond 17*.

Are mixing sets more beneficial than aiming for a pure full set end game?
These gear builds have pieces from different gear sets to maximize the combined set bonuses. It’s very much possible to reach 250+ and 50k stat just sticking with 3 set crap and 5 set absolab and just continuing upgrading them.
If you go with lucky hat, you could have CRA+abso set wearing fafnir weapon
is it fine if i just have 3 cra sets + 5 sets of absolabs ? absolab as weapon cause arcane weapon here in maplesea cost 25b clean, im free to play i dont feel worth of mesos to buy that weapon clean and it could take months for me to get that amount of mesos
Yep that should be fine! That’s the set up I’m running rn because Arcanes are too expensive for me.
how do you get fafnir and abssolab gear if you dont have the damage to do the bosses and dont have a guild to carry you?
Train up link skills and legion bonuses to get more ied and boss dmg. You can also try to get 2l epic pensalir and get 2l att % on your wse to try soloing cra. But most of the times, you could just ask for a carry on reset day and most likely someone will take you.
I havent played in so long(im talking right at big bang release and before that i played on and off from release) i was hoping you had a channel full of guides XD how do you have 600 subs and two videos 🤔 i came back for adele and im sooooooooooooooo lost. This guide helped give me an idea there are sets now and i should look into how to get them once im that high of a level

The recent changes can mean a lot of different things for everyone, but in my opinion, things are getting better for the free to play players because meso rates have gone up drastically, which means all the mesos you earn from bosses, farming, etc. are worth a lot more now - meaning your time spent in the game is worth more. The Rise update is coming out very soon so I would check it out! Has a lot of neat perks for new players!
Is it harder than it was a month and a half ago, definitely. Is it unplayable ? No.
There are some glitches, there are some bugs that maybe slow down your daily progress (looking at you Gollux), but in the long term, these little glitches and bugs are inconsequential, for if you grind constantly, you will achieve what you want.
Actually, right now is the time to come back, since there is a tera burning event going on (3lvls instead of 1 every time you level up, up to lb 200) with a boat load of bonuses given throughout the progression (CRA set for free) and bonuses if you reach lv 210 (70 nodestones, something that takes a big while to farm up; mega burner that allows to burn another character until lv 150 for link skills).
At the end, go see it for yourself, you have nothing to lose.
Other returning player, more guides would be great and explain more for reboot players, Please&Thanks =D
I'm guessing there's no realistic way to incorporate Aquarius Crown into Xenon BiS. The 24 slots feel like wasted potential to be transfused or what have you 😭

Since its base att is 154 for absolab, it falls between 130~170. In this case 3 set cra 5 set abso is probably easier
would it be better for me to invest my meso into gear that already has good rolls on it or just clean gear to try to save meso + buy more pieces i need?
Usually if you know prices well, it's cheaper to buy premade gear than making it yourself
SweetMusings so say I have 1b. i should go for one piece with good stats that’s worth 1b instead of a bunch of pieces with no stat
It really differs from each case by case. But I guess a better answer would be to try calculating if the item that you're interested in buying is cheaper than how much it'll cost if you were to try making the item yourself. For example, someone's selling a 22* cra top for 15b. That's technically cheaper than the average cost of 22 starring a lv 150 item. So in this case it would make more sense to buy the item than trying to make it yourself.

Ben Dover Most players can’t really afford an arcane weapon but yeah I would say it has one of the best bang for your buck if you want to invest a bit into the game.
This only works mostly in normal servers. If your in reboot, its gonna take a while to farm this out
It all depends on whether you're getting carries, how often you're doing weeklies, etc, but that's the nature of the game (mmos in general emphasize stay character progression) if you decide to play on Reboot. But hopefully the video was informative about what gear set to work towards depending on your budget (or how much time you have in the case of Reboot).

Be nice if the really early game was covered. My damage is suffering until level 100, which makes the game increasingly less fun the more I do it.
I guess you could try prepping some black bean ring shoulder belt with %AS flames and epic pots for future characters... And maybe some lv 75 earrings with epic pots too? But otherwise imo the early game focus isn’t on damage, rather just rely on links and go for the MVPs and guild buffs at ardent and then resume grinding

They're okay but there are better sets out there so it might just be a waste of time to try to get them.
Damn, should have watched this video earlier... I have a 5 set abso, 3 set cra but weapon top btm for cra as a kanna. Because im playing reg server and have rly good flame on that fafnir weapon and didnt think i shld change my weapon.. but good thing is cra helm is easy to get and cheap still..
If your fafnir weapon is good then it might be better just to upgrade the fafnir to arcane in the future, rather than switching out both the weapon and hat.

Reboot players: This assumes being carried a lot in cra, since u can't do cra with pensilir, or even if u can, ur not a new player. So go for vOn Leon or empress set. You need the gears the boss drops in order to kill the boss, which makes little sense to skip over such a large stat gap
You show swords but ur char is using axe animation?
They were just examples. Heroes get a 5% DMG bonus for using axes as one of their passive skills.
Good to know i cant do anything on my own except rely on a guild to get equips.. who would want to spend time to give a random person like me a carry every week T.T been stuck with cra equips and trying to farm coins for superior gollux set and commerci for sweetwater katara... but yeah.. reboot is ruff

K M I’m a 206 Bishop in Pensalir still. It’s slow to kill Arcane River monsters (prob slower in fact due to me being a bishop) but it’s not impossible to kill without CRA.

background music is waaay too loud, very hard to hear you, especially at 1:30. Music that is nice to listen to on its own does not usually make good background music.

Its never easy to get that absolabs set... but there is another problem once u get that item... u need billions of mesos to bring out the stats through cubing, flaming, and star force u name it😂😂😂
Yep haha welcome to the world of MMOs. The Absolab set can definitely be pretty time consuming to get, especially as a free to play players, but it's definitely doable if you play consistently enough. I would rather spend my time and resources on something I will use on a longer term basis, rather than quickly depleting mesos and resources on equipment I'll have to quickly replace.

If you don't have enough mesos, I recommend farming the items yourself. It will take some time but once you get it, it will feel pretty good knowing that you earned it rather than dumping bunch of nx or $ to get something right away.

Damn gms auction is garbage
This video lacks a lot of information. You don’t even talk about accessories, if I were to start on a new server this video wouldn’t be helpful.
