Suzy early in het traveling days as a graduate from college traveled west, was so darn determined to make music not just a gig, but her career. Those early days she played at places where the men ogled her good looks but soon realized she was incredibly smart and could just plain old entertain, sing. She got her training out west like in Wyoming and Coloradp and on her way back home trips. So to be recognized by Chet and then travel and play shows with arguably one of the best guitarists of his era must have really lifted her confidence. Chet said she was simply pitch perfect. Certainly so. I just saw her and Kathy Mattea at the Blue Gate Theater in Shipshewans (June 3, 2023). What a fantastic show. One of the very few so humble, beautiful, fun and witty, yet a clearly a confident entertainer. Love her voice and style.
I was in Nashville in 1985 at a publishing company talking to a songwriter, John Vesner. He said.."Kathy Mattea lives upstairs." He didn't say he knew her. He married her in 1988. He has co-written 6 top ten hits and song of the year..I'm still working at it!
Three top gals of country music and backing by a perfect gentleman virtuoso on the guitar. Mr Chet Atkins. It's shows like this that give country music it's good name. Time has moved on since this show was aired and now Chet has moved on also. Gone but not forgotten he dedicated his life to producing and playing top music. Thanks for sharing this great show.
great video. some major talent on this stage. chet is the best, obviously, and suzy is one of the best pure singers in the world. love her voice. and what a class act as a person, too.
she has the purest voice of anyone I've ever heard.

+Dax Reynolds - That's what Chet Atkins said...Suzy Bogguss has the most accurate vibrato he ever heard. She has perfect pitch control when singing loud and softly. She has a perfect voice and never, ever misses a note.
Holy Cow...they did "After You've Gone," what a great, great song...sounds fantastic live. Wish Chet did the solo too, but it sounded great anyway, and Suzy is awesome. Thanks for posting this. Great Music...can we please stop time :)
That version is uniquely individual, virtuosic on the record. It’s a tribute to all the great musos to do such a great live version. Chet is a person that makes you want to play guitar!
Johnny Gimble fiddlin' around on 'After You've Gone'.... Wow! I have a recording he made for me of him playing this song with a back-up tape and man he kills it with those Jazz & Swing chops of his. Just like he does here. What a player! Miss ya John! RIP!
If the Connie you are referring to is Connie Francis, then you get my full thumbs up! Though lately I haven't listened as much to Martina as I used to back in the 90's and currently Karen Carpenter, Linda Ronstadt & Patti Page all rank higher in my personal top singers list than Martina so I'd probably replace her with one of them; but I'd definitely keep Connie and Suzy in my personal top 3.
WOW ! I don't know a whole lotta whats goin on in country music , just heard Chet & Suzy on an album years ago doin "After You're Gone " so I give this a spin .... WOW ! I guess class acts sorta attract each other .
Sympatico is a fantastic LP. One of my favs. Some great songs on it...but better than that...these two were a perfect match. Too bad the critics and media were busy sipping wine and eating cheese to notice greatness right in front of their faces. On the other hand...I'm glad they didn't...cause they would have most likely ruined this splendid pair :) See...there is a God :)
Suzy's voice has that rare quality where she can go from soft as a marshmallow to sharp as a razor blade, and back again in a flash. She's a real entertainer, not just another pretty face.
Question.......At what age did you start playing the guitar and what was the brand? I have a 1963 lime green gretch. My Uncle taught me to play. You inspired me to take it out of storage to try and relearn it all again. LOL Thank you for sharing your gift.
@@kurtkensson2059 It actually sounds a lot like "Diamonds on the soles of her shoes" from the Graceland Album (only the African vocals/brass section missing). Who was first? ;)
@@Framusic I did a little digging. It looks like 'This is the Beginning' was written by Pat Donohue, and released on his 'Life Stories' album in 2003. 'Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" was co-written by Paul Simon (and Joseph Shabalala) and released on the 'Graceland' album in 1986.
Especially, Teach Your Children, The Hildabeast, Murdered a 10 year old girl, on Epstein Island, in cold blood.. and know telling how many more, we’ll find out soon..

Chet and Suzy, two of the classiest, sweetest people in music. No flashy gimmicks needed. Just pure talent!!

Suzy' voice and Chet's picking make this a masterpiece.

Are you familiar wit Eva Cassidy? I think you might enjoy her as well. Sad she was taken so early.
Thank you for posting! I've never seen this and have been a big Suzy fan for many years. Loved the Sympatico album.
She is amazing as always.

I was wondering why he didn't introduce Pat Bergeson also. He's a great guitar and harmonica player.
JUST LOVE HER..
Susy Boggus,gorgeous!!!!!!
+Bob Dowling The nicest looking gams on any (female) performer.
I always had a thing for Suzy...wow what a hunka Wo man:) mmmmm
My top 3 fave female singers

Wow, I just got happy ,thanke to these two, good night.
She had the sexiest legs in country music.
Both Klllary and Bill separately dreaming about being with the same woman.
Just the right amount of cow bell.
I had a fever, but this was just enough to cure it.
What this needs is More Cow Bell! :)
I came here for delicious solo at 15:23 from Pat Bargeson❤️
Yes, he’s another great player. Hopefully the fingerpickers will take over the world! (Ps. To me, they already have)!
Wow! Kathy Mattea and Alison Krauss!
Dang!
Terry Lickoma, the producer, is of Austin City Limits fame. :)
pretty good. First song could have used some more cowbell though
LOVE
So much talent - such nice legs/thighs!!!! And Suzies thighs ain't bad either! LOL
❤ love you Susy
Suzy Bogguss` gtr saves souls...

Suzy you are sympathetic , sweet and affable! Your smile is captivating and you have a beautiful voice .Do you play any musical instrument (piano ?)
Most remarkable; Chet's guitar... what's that? 1/2 size? But amazing how he performs on it as front artist (with full size guitars backing)...
Question.......At what age did you start playing the guitar and what was the brand? I have a 1963 lime green gretch. My Uncle taught me to play. You inspired me to take it out of storage to try and relearn it all again. LOL Thank you for sharing your gift.
the steel player nailed the jerry garcia lick from the album ..
I wonder if the small martin is the one vince gill now has.
15:29 listen to that guitar solo, supurb!
"This is the beginning" sounds a huge lot like Paul Simon's later style..... who wrote this, cause it's really like Simon?
Nice. Somebody else noticed that, too.

Lickona. Suzy was pregnant with Ben during the One More for the Road video, :)
Which occasions and date‘s are the concerts?
Chet Atkins吉他高手,出神入化,就是好听!
Is that Pat Bergeson on the guitar ('After You've Gone' and 'Forget About If')? I see many Kraussish connection here.😂
date, por favor? thanks so much for uploading, so great.
Oke tankyu
2nd best yooootaler. 1st. VIRGY
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Who is Chet's partner on guitar? Anybody know?
Pat Bergeson, a quiet legend
Do you think Bill took a shot?
francisco do brazil
How to dress classy and sexy at the same time. Without crossing the line.
Find someone who looks at you the way Suzy looks at Chet
Hill and Billary..jeez...they worm their way into everything.
Carl Rudd My feelings exactly!!!
Tom Anderson This was a White House invitation performance. What dumb comments!
plain to see who 's 'worming into everything' - what a sad state of mind . Pathological projecter
Here's one thing I have in common with Hillary Clinton 0:16 is Ms Suzy Bogguss ( her song is ' Someday Soon ' - beyond no doubt )
The Clintons seem to be enjoying the music .
They think it's All about them and Hillary wishes she had Suzys talent.
And with Hillary and Bill Clinton in the audiance!
Show.....
gee whiz i see slick willy in the audience salivating.
Performing for Bill and Hilary , sorry you lost me .
Especially, Teach Your Children, The Hildabeast, Murdered a 10 year old girl, on Epstein Island, in cold blood.. and know telling how many more, we’ll find out soon..
Did Chet find that guitar in a box of cereal?
Suzy's black outfit and panty hose makes my blood pressure go up (beIow the belt)... J/S 🤔😍😆🤣👍✌
Matches your IQ
Go over there somewhere and STFU
