(4K) Planespotting at Sofia International Airport (SOF)

Planespotting at Sofia Airport in the capital of Bulgaria. SOF or LBSF gets a variety of airlines from around Europe, serves as a home base for Bulgaria Air, and has multiple daily Ryanair + Wizz Air flights. The airport occasionally gets rarer visitors, such as planes coming in for maintenance, military, cargo, and charter flights. While it was scorching hot out, it was well worth spotting, especially the Azerbaijan E190, LOT special livery, and flydubai.

Yeah tons of Airbus, but it’s nice seeing the airlines we don’t get in the U.S. and the mini version of LOT, Air Serbia, and Lufthansa 😂

Thank you! This spot is located just west of the Iskar River. To get there, walk to the east end of the airport park and then there’s a gravel path to walk on until you get near the river. Check out this link (www.spotterguide.net/planespotting/europe/bulgaria/sofia-sof-lbsf/) spot #1. I had a great time spotting at Sofia Airport and hope to spot there again next summer.

Not exactly. It’s a gravel path on the east end of the park that leads to the river.

It does offer some cool planespotting. There’s occasional rare charters and special liveries too.
