I've heard the song many many many times.. by all the well known artists who have recorded it.. but no-one makes this song live for me like Ute does.
Vero
Immortale
WOW! What a lush, dramatic take on Mack the Knife.
The lighting really makes it click. The shadows and contrast between light and dark are perfect.
Daria Stefan has taught me that language is no barrier to a great performance, and Ute Lemper is undeniably great
great theatre, great singer, great song
And this song, it has a last verse,
Full of many shocking things!
I have seen the German version,
But this last verse, no one sings!
Not quite no one, but nicht Ute, who raves about MacHeath's crimes and sings the verse from the movie adaptation! Don't wait for the translation--it's already in German! Here's my translation:
And there was a minor widow;
"Very famous, " one might say;
She was raped on one fine morning;
MacHeath, how much did you pay?
Ute Lemper & Lotte Lenya - the two best in their own idiosyncratic ways.
Lrmper's voice suits Weill's music perfectly
Das ist sehr schön❣️
I believe this song comes from the 1931 movie "The Three Penny Opera"(Germany) and the lyrics is about a serieal killer. The original words from that movie on the pier with the fish monger.
Magnificent.
Pure Delight!
the original is the german version of this song
I love Ute Lemper's r's
who doesn't? 😍😍😍😍
Gives you the shivers
Merci Madame Lemper
une très belle prestation merci madame Lemper
heard lotta versions of this ditty over the years
this by far is the most lush
the most dramatic
Wunderbar!
Divina Ute!
is the original version, because is en german Die Dreigroschenoper (The Threepenny Opera) by Bertolt Brecht
Mas bien de Kurt Weill.
By Brecht and Weill. Don't forget Kurt Weill, please.
Bianca 2007
Merveilleux merci ❤
Dear lord, is like a modern Marlene Dietrich. Amazing !
She's much better. The interaction between her voice ..the stage effects ...her eyes movement.it's brilliant. very german
Fantastic...
Liebe ihre Stimme! Große Version von "Mack The Knife".
And, aside from that, she is absolutely great! Grüsse aus Rio de Janeiro.
Sempilcemente insuperabile. Grazie.
Fantastica...
Maravillosa!!! Wonderfull!! Maravilleuse!!!
Sehr gut!!! ^_^
***Un seul mot... Magnifico!
Best rendition ever
Amazing! You can tell she went back to the original Bertolt Brecht version from years ago. I need to see what else she has done. ❤
Absolutely.
Piękne wykonanie.Ten język nadaje klimat tej pieśni.No i ta Ute'a.
Talent
Great, looking forwards to Gateshead x
fascinante todas las sensaciones que comunica...
Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo mi hanno portato qui!
I'd never heard of her before this video, but WOW.
absolutely splendid! When was this performed?
you're my world.
Man, sometimes I think she's the only one who should be legally allowed to sing Weill.
She and the equally godlike Lotte Lenya.
what about Gisela May and Milva?
Bravissima e bellissima.
Nice version in German I love this song ....for the old days of gangstet
I could hug her.
außergewöhnlich, si dice così?
Nice "mood" !
great :)
Ich liebe dich! And I mean it!
I can see her influence on Liza Minelli. :)
Liza Minelli is much older. If there was any influence, then Liza Minelli influenced her. Of course in reality neither is probably the case and both of them were drawing their influence from performers from the 20s and 30s.
hoop de'menschen
a near perfect rendition
Die Drei Groschen Oper...
Nearly as good as the Brecht original.
