Firewalk, which has been helpful for me, teaches mixing in this order. #1. Gain stage: make sure that the volume of the source of each synth does not peak over -12db. Samples can keep their original volumes and be adjusted with the faders on the mixer at the end. #2. Add desired effects to each track (EQ, compression, reverb, delay, panning etc). #3. Adjust the levels on each track so that no element is too quiet or too loud in relation to everything else. #4. Leave head room on the master track: make sure that nowhere on the track peaks over -3 db. If it goes over you can highlight all tracks and bring them all down without messing up where each level sits in relation to everything else. Ready for mastering
Bedankt/Thanks for the video, to the point, I like it! Tips an tricks about mixing are always welcome. @1:13 If you want to manually link the selected layers starting from a specific mixer track, select it and press Ctrl + SHIFT + L
Thank you so much man! :D About the Ctrl + SHIFT + L shortcut: That's if you want to route the patterns starting from a selected mixer track. If your mixer is empty and if you want to start from the first track, you can just select the layers in the channel rack and hit Ctrl+L. :)
@@FLBASICS Naw, its just im in my 50's now. My brain needs some coffee and my morning medication to process things now. Im like a old school car, you let that MOFO warm up first before you take off...🤔🤔🤔😁😁😂😂🤣🤣😂😉
I do the opposite lol, I find it much better for gain staging to adjust the levels at the channel or pre-mixer. That way when I add an effect plugin the signal it not too hot. Also at the end I can make smaller adjustments with the mixer fader. Still, good tips tho. Cheers
Thanks so much my friend!❤🔥There are a few things you can do to mix your vocals on an already mastered track. (However, it's always better to use a non-mastered track) Anyway, I might add this as a tip in a future vocal mixing video! Thanks for the suggestion man!!
Thank you so much man! ❤️I made it myself by simply tweaking the knobs in theme settings. Give me a few days and I'll put a link to download it in the description!
so i have been mixing through my studio monitors its very difficult but after uploading it to youtube and listening to it dosent sound right so i have to take notes on what needs leveld up or down its very tough i have been trying to get that quality mix but its very very difficult
Guys, anyone know how I keep the volume on master track. Every time I click a track, it sort of isolates that track and lowers the volume. I cannot find how to turn this off, it's driving me crazy. I want to keep hearing the track throught the master track when tweaking individual tracks.
Honestly, I don't know how I did it without calibrating my devices. Try it out for free, you won't regret it! ♥
