  • Convoys of Protected Patrol Vehicles from the British Army pass through Totton after arriving at Marchwood in the Port of Southampton. They had been participating in NATO Exercise Steadfast Defender. Other army trucks and support vehicles are also featured. Most are from the 7th Light Mechanised Brigade Combat Team, aka 'The Desert Rats', operating as the NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF).
Featured are the 6x6 Mastiffs (as seen as 0:30), designed to transport 8 troops and 2 crew, while the 4x4 Ridgeback (as seen at 2:40) is smaller - it is based on the US Army Cougar. Both are used as Protected Patrol Vehicles, and are fitted with cages to deflect the blast from projectiles while patrolling in hostile areas and escorting convoys.
Also featured is the Foxhound (seen at 4:37), another Protected Patrol Vehicle for the British Army. They are designed with a V-shape hull to protect against blasts from Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), after learning from the war in Afghanistan.
A Panther (seen at 5:51) is also featured. This is an air transportable Protected Patrol Vehicle that can be underslung from Chinooks. It is much smaller compared to the Mastiff, Ridgeback and Foxhound vehicles featured. This vehicle is often used by Commanders.
Lastly we see two Jackal Reconnaissance Vehicles being transported by low-loaders at 6:25. They are high mobility vehicles designed for quick manoeuvring both on and off road, with a variety of different terrain. They're armoured underneath to protect against IEDs and can be used for patrol & protection duties.

Over 90,000 troops are participating with over 1,200 combat vehicles, over 80 aircraft and over 50 naval assets from all 32 allies, including Sweden. British Forces vehicles travelled by ship from the Marchwood Sea Mounting Centre in the Port of Southampton.

I don't know what it is, but every time I see our army trucks on the road, going to wherever, I get a buzz of nostalgia!
My days were the 1970 onwards when we had our 3 tonners (Bedford RL) to run around in before the TK model. Our armoured vehicles: Ferrets, Saladins and the six wheeled Sarrisions (a favourite). The Stalwart amphibious six wheeler.
All museum pieces now. Like me. I'd join up again, even at 70 if they'd let me.
Love your videos! All of them! ❤️👍✌️🇬🇧

I understand that! I'm happy it's bringing back fond memories for you. I think the Bedfords looked great with their curved front, stylish. They suited fire engines, recovery trucks, and other vehicles too.
I did actually see a preserved RAF Bedford TK the other day just ahead of a British Army MAN convoy. That was a nice comparison.
I never heard of Sarrision, but I know the Saracens! They were pretty awesome, I often look at photos of them.
      Thanks again, Phil! 😁
