Was invited today to watch football with guys who where asking me to be in their fraternity. I was willing to go and try out but I don’t really enjoy watching sports, let alone football, so I figured I wouldn’t fit in even if I where faking it. So I didn’t go.
I was never faking it I love sports. But I’m almost 30 now and for me I realized Sports are for kids and people who have enough free time to truly enjoy it. If I want to do music or actually work for myself. How the fuck will watching lebron even though he’s my favorite player for two hours accomplish my goals. I want to be in the same rooms as the people I admired as a kid I don’t wanna be 50 years old talking about why lebron was better than jordan and I didn’t accomplish my goals in my life. Sports is a distraction from our day in day out lives. Just like people who watch anime. People who watch Netflix shows etc all of these things are distracting us from our true goals in life
I’m a Falcons fan and I really think I shouldn’t be dedicating so much time to watch them anymore. Been watching games since 2012 and they generally add to my stress level, so I think I’m gonna stop. Because it’s become unhealthy. I wanna explore life more and meet new people and create adventures I’ve never been on before. I can relate to you because I started to watch football because my friends did and I don’t think I generally started this on my own.
I grew up in Texas during the Aikman dynasty and down here people practically raised kids to follow teams like Uni of Texas, A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Oilers and now the Houston Texans. Growing up I had Texas teams/schools shoved down my throat so much by people making the most ridiculous statements practically saying that I 'have' to follow those teams/sports because I'm a Texan. Eventually I just moved on with my life and quietly faded in the background of their shenanigans and just gave up watching sports all together (other than hockey).
I believe people are taught to like sports from a young age and they don't have time to admit that they are faking it when around others. i believe people are faking it half the time cause there's no way that watching the games is really that interesting especially if you don't actually play sports themselves.
Am here to quit arsenal i love them so much but it making me have stress all the time i can't cheat them so am gonna stop watching football i have been fan of them in 12 years
Omg I'm in the exact same situation as u, im done with this club. It doesn't care enough about maintaining its status and keeping the fans engaged so they can fuck off
Now this is a video I can respect. All of the other videos is either putting people who do like sports down or trying to force people not to like it and be like them
Growing up a Patriots fan helped me leave sports. They won 6 Super Bowl games, more than most fans will ever see in their lifetime, and what does it mean? Nothing. You have to win it again next year. It made me realize that I got my value from sports and no matter what, sports left me empty.
Im also a Patriots fan. This is my problem right now. I hate how people say Mahomes is the GOAT already. I hate how they discredit Brady’s career. Thats why im here. It became very toxic for me so im trying to get away from this NFL world. Any tips as a fellow fan? That could change my life really
Here on Super Bowl Sunday, near the time of kickoff, I got curious and searched something like "why not to watch sports." I found this and thought I'd comment and throw in my own two cents. For me, I never watch sports alone unless it's boxing, which I do sometimes. Otherwise, I will very rarely ever watch sports by myself. I think I watched last year's SB by myself, but still, why don't I watch them religiously? I've realized that a big part of it has to do with the fact that I never became a high school or college athlete due to my family situation where my father didn't support me playing sports whatsoever. I have always resented that, and perhaps some sort of envy at least sometimes contributes to my lack of interest in watching other athletes who "made it." Secondly, aside from watching sports in a social setting, which I do enjoy, I don't feel that watching the game is that important, unless I'm going to be all into it. And I know that I am not going to dive in and be a hardcore enthusiast. I can tell you that the Rams are playing the Bengals today, and that I hope the underdog wins, but I don't know who the quarterbacks are, who any of the players are, etc. Now, the main concern for many, and I've been concerned about this myself, is that my ignorance in this sense will negatively affect business relationships that I have or that I want to develop more. Could my lack of interest in sports affect this? There's no way around the fact that it could. Plenty of people insist that people who don't watch sports are weird. Some partners in business could very well be that closeminded. However, I do think that the cases where an existing or potential business partner is turned off to the point of not wanting to do business with you due to this will be statistically in the minority. It is kind of like if you don't drink. As far as I'm concerned if a relationship cannot flourish because I'm not in the know when it comes to sports, then that's just destiny that we're not supposed to be cool. I do have some more points, but I won't go into anything else here. Do I have a lot of respect for athletes? Absolutely. The pros in any sport can really do some crazy things that statistically very few others ever can. Also, sports brings people together, and it perhaps most importantly teaches young participants what teamwork is, what it means to be a good sport, etc. Those are extremely valuable life lessons that people can get from these games of various athletic types. One last thing is that my father, perhaps when he came to his senses in terms of why sports are good, told me that sports allow humans to engage in their primal instinct to be at war. I don't know how true that is, but it certainly makes sense. We can liken these nutty fans who get all painted up to greatly nationalistic citizens of a country. The team members are the soldiers, and so on. You get the point. Anyhow, thanks for the video! Enjoy Super Bowl Sunday if you're watching right now. Go Bengals!
Wouldn't watching sports be an NPC thing. Considering a large amount of the population do so. I don't think people should have a superiority complex for not watching them though and stick it in others face.
Reason why I can't watch any American sport live is there are way too many damn commercial breaks. Like I'm here to watch a game, I'm ok with a 10min half time break , but not 3-5min game then 5-10min commercial. I'm so done, will just stick to highlights.
Well I like playing sports, I was even a very good goalie for lacrosse, and captain for wrestling but I don’t like watching sports especially team sports, it’s tiring to follow through because I know what’s gonna happen and the things that gonna happen is pretty similar 😅 But I would watch MMA because it is more personal. Part of reason I don’t like watching team sports is that it is too time consuming. Maybe I am a very creative person so I don’t like the same things happening over and over again. No offense to any sports fan. I was a lax goalie and very sportsy guy, just not a fan of watching sports.
learn a new lenguage. or do something else with that time. even looking the highlight is STUPID. you are feeding the industry doing that. you are not different than the people that watch the entire match. you just have a 10 second attention span, like a tik tok kid.
I live in the UK and I don’t follow any contact sports at all such as football ⚽️ I don’t see the point in millionaires kicking a ball filled with air round a muddy pitch. The only sports I follow is MOTO GP & Formula E
You can get hooked to the taste of almost anything, the more you expose yourself to it,. I try not to start things I don’t want to get hooked on. Tv shows, games, sports.
I started following Al-Nassr club after Cristiano joined it a season and a half ago, but it failed miserably and only achieved one title. Sports in Saudi Arabia are all corruption, bribery, deception, racism and fanaticism. I have now stopped following football, which I was never a good follower of. One day, I would only watch some beautiful goals on UA-cam, and indeed, my team lost or won. What is the effect of that on me? Nothing. Football is a waste of time and a false affiliation.
could a done without the weird intro. Hit me in the cringer. but i like the idea of the video. i hate people faking sports interest to navigate acceptance.

Gotta stay true to you!

Just don't go out and meeting any kind of person life is dangerous dude
I always found it comical that some guys refuse to associate with me because I don’t watch football. 😂
Maybe you should take a serious look at it instead...I am 100% sure they have better friends than you
I know of at least one time that a guy was fired for not being a sports fan. They wanted someone who they could talk sports with.

You think that something that applies to you , applies to everyone too.
Watching games is interesting I enjoy baseball and boxing I don’t play baseball

Good decision im a Liverpool fan and I'm done aswell. Due to different reasons though
@@shahee6579 Ye, honestly football stressing people out too much 😂
@@fxpro9518 update i didn't quit them i still watch every game and i can't quit unfortunately
@@shahee6579 u must be lucky to be liverpool fan i guess.
Thank you 😊 💓 we stress ourselves for nothing

i do not hesitate to show my disinterest in spoerts.i have seen sports fans never hesitate their lack of interest in whatever.

People do this with anything that’s popular. It’s actually kinda random. It could’ve very easily been something else. It’s an NPC thing.
Wouldn't watching sports be an NPC thing. Considering a large amount of the population do so.

Hi Johnathan, great video! Loved the message and you are freakin adorable.
Haha that's sweet, thank you!

I really appreciate this video bro up up ❤🙏
I follow my teams, I just don't sit down and watch the game; I watch the highlights afterwards.
About how I am
Smart
Me too and I’ll increase the speed 😅
I watch for 10 min instead of 3 hrs. Time saved.
learn a new lenguage. or do something else with that time.

I just stopped watching football cuz it's rigged it's boring now
Thanks for realizing it. All sports are rigged.
You can get hooked to the taste of almost anything, the more you expose yourself to it,. I try not to start things I don’t want to get hooked on. Tv shows, games, sports.
Agreed!
Bunch of MILIONARES running for a ball.,.. nice :) sometimes the milionares get so tired in a game. :( I get so sad when this happens
I can relate
Well done bro
Amen bro

i dont watch sports at all.
This is all perspective, it’s a pass time activity
Its better pass time activities to do then watch scripted sports
Goin beach is boring like ok its sand u sit on it might swim big woop prefer a football game
could a done without the weird intro. Hit me in the cringer. but i like the idea of the video. i hate people faking sports interest to navigate acceptance.

I hate football or soccer as called it's pointless and over paided for kicking a bag of air
This was cool👋, this helped me think about a lot of things regarding myself in my 20s
