  • How to clean your Smartmi Evaporative Humidifier 2
Step 1: remove the top housing of your humidifier
Step 2: Add water into the water tank till it reaches medium level.
Step 3: Add 10-30 ml of food-grade citric acid into the water tank. In this video, we are using lemon juice extract, which is easily accessible in any grocery store.
Step 4: put the top housing of your humidifier back and Hold the “display brightness button” for 3 seconds to turn on the self-cleaning mode.
In cleaning mode, the evaporator in the water tank will continue to rotate so that it cleans the evaporator and deodorizes the water tank. Let it run for at least 30 mins, and we recommend performing this action every two weeks.
If the evaporator gives off an odor after being used for a while,
add 100ml of hypochlorite solution diluted into 100mg/L. Then run the cleaning mode for 30 min.
Please make sure that the water temperature is lower than 35 degrees C. High temperatures might damage the evaporator. Do not use cleaning solutions that have a highly corrosive property.
Now your Smartmi Evaporative humidifier is clean and sanitized.

What about the fan inside the top housing? I can see quite a lot dust on it. Is there some way to safely extract and clean it?

For what. You need to clean only a water tank.

Hi, I have 17% solution of sodium hypochlorite, should I add 100 ml of it as is, or should I first dilute 100ml of this 17% solution into 1 L of water and then add 100ml of final solution that I'll get?

How do you clean the rotating thingy inside the top cove? It looks dusted af for some time now and i don't see a way of getting it out or cleaning it inside somehow. I regret buying this humidifier, it's super hard to clean and is not efficient at all.

For mechanical cleaning there's this idea from a "XIAOMI AIR HUMIDIFIER 2" video by Egor Voloshchenko where he brushes the dust off of the fan blades with an old toothbrush while keeping the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner close by to suck up the dust.
One thing I want to try just to make sure none of the leftover particles can contaminate the air or the water with microorganisms is to spray the fan all around with 3% hydrogen peroxide solution and wait for it do dry completely before use (24h to be sure). That should kill pretty much everything that might have been left on there after the brushing and vacuuming. Or I could do the same with 70% ethanol (rubbing alcohol), but that would create quite a lot of vapor that might be nasty to inhale during the operation.

Is it possible to remove the black reel from the top of the device? It sat in my water unused for a while and the reel became overgrown with algae. The bottom part of the device cleaned nicely...
Possibly, how to unfold the upper part?

What would be an alternative for hypochlorite solution? It doesn't seem to be available in the Netherlands as a consumer product.

I didnt get what is difference between cleaning mode and normal mode. What is the difference ?

    • @smartmiio
      @smartmiio  Рік тому +1

In Normal mode, our humidifier effectively moisturizes the air while in Cleaning mode, it efficiently eliminates water stains and odors, ensuring optimal air quality.

In cleaning mode the air ventilator doesn't work, so you don't inhale the smell of cleaners. I use 100 ml chlorine bleach per 1 liter of water and that's enough to keep the bad smell away for long time.

you dont clean it because the water level sensor has never worked so you cant even get it to run ever.

@@bernardkiljanski4312 ive had 2 of these in the past year, i bought one it stopped reading the water level sensor and i had to throw it out because it was about 4 months old and couldn't return it. then i bought another one because i really do love this concept instead of a steam humidifier, and only 5 months in and this one no longer detects water levels and will not turn on either. if you just type sensor after smartmi there are tons of soldering arduino hacks you can do because this is an inherent problem with these machines that eventually happens to all of them.
