I've honestly never listened to any singer male or female in my whole life (I'm 53) as much as I have to Angelina, and I've only discovered her beautifully unique talent a few months ago. She is a gift and a revelation to music, and an admirable person...I hope that she never changes.

She gets so involved in her production of the perfect vocal that i almost feel like an uninvited voyeur watching her. She hides nothing, just sends everything she has to the mic, its almost intruding on her personal space to watch her. Then she turns to us in the camera and invites us in to celebrate her satisfaction WITH her. She's just an amazing person.

Thanks Rusty. I, like many, love to see and hear Angelina in recording or rehearsal. Always fun, always the perfectionist, and always lets the key players know if it's good with that famous "thumbs up" she has used since age 6 that we've seen, and also at 8 on NGT and now here, and I'm sure many. many other times. I wonder just how her Grandmother Mery must be both proud and amazed at her granddaughter, especially knowing that she picked up Jazz from her. I know how I feel about mine when she performs athletics and excels. Just another mind blowing performance by Angelina. One simply cannot watch and listen to a session like this without knowing they are seeing a historical event by a performer for the ages.

Angelina's recent exposure on AGT offered a different view of Angelina than we've seen before. Oh yes, the breathy voice, the perfect pitch, and all were there, but there were new twists and turns in her performances. The melisma (runs/riffs) were uncharacteristic, except for a few songs she's covered in the past like "Unchained Melody," but fit each song beautifully in her arrangements, and of course her voice and tone were magnificent. Each song contained contained just a "hint" of jazz, and I would love to see Angelina's next major appearances, covers and of course originals, like "Shield," be the jazz vocals that help make Angelina so special. Jazz is, after all, her foundation. Adding this one to any appearance would be epic. Of course anything Angelina sings mesmerizes me, and her audience, but I just want her new audience to know the great jazz artist she is.

Somebody will have to compose a song for Angelina so that she can use her full power with melismas and everything else. Anyway I think as she is so self-confident she used the melisma just for the AGT show: "here I am and I sing a lot just see what I can do"
Of all the many songs I've listened to this is my favorite hands down. That voice, that golden voice.
I resisted listening to this version because her acappella version was so special to me, it still is. But in listening to this I realize how much she has grown as a singer. I also like the interplay with grandma. Angelina really can adapt to any singing style. If she can do this during a practice session, I can hardly wait for the final result. Thanks Rusty for putting this up, she is the best.
I was listening to the best Jazz music of the 50s , 60s and 70s on youtube at work and towards the end this song came on. After listening to Frank , Aretha and Nat for an hour or so this version did not sound out of place at all and it is an elevated version of this song with so many nuances in Angelina's voice. I was mesmerized by it. I tried not to think about the fact that it was an 11 or 12 year old that was making history here and just stayed on the fact that every note is so perfect and pure with interesting style and a cool flare. The experience of the artist shines through in the performance. I can only assume that Angie has listened to so much Jazz that she instinctively knows what she wants to do with the piece. Different versions of the song gives her inspiration to create her masterpieces.
Another gem for the legend. 200 years from now people will still be studying and trying to interpret these.
She's always acquiring new vocal skills and honing the ones she already has. I'm old and enjoy her covers so much. I hope I live to see her go professional when she's ready. She is such a joy for me.

This is one of those Angelina songs that the first time I heard it, I didn't get it. I liked it, but it was nowhere near my favorite of hers, because it was not the music style I liked. When I bought her album "It's Magic" & played it over & over. Everytime this song came on I liked it more & more each time. Now this song & It's A Man's World are my co-favorites on the album. When either of those songs come on, I have to stop what I'm doing, turn it up & just listen. It's a mystery to me why that happens, but it's not the first time. I have the feeling she could sing before she could talk. As a result she can be in two states of mind, one of them (the "old music"-state) is kind of hypnotic! She has access to it any moment she wants. It's ongoing in the background. She just closes her eyes, connects and the magic continues. (At 2:03 , "These words I have to say"... Billie took over!)
The other state of mind I can't describe. A 12-year old, sweet, humble, smart and also extremely musical! So special! And Billie would be moved by her! Her greatest inspiration I believe!

I believe this was late 2017. I have seen the album dated 2018 (as I think that is when it was released), but based on the jacket of the CD it was... "recorded Nov 2017"
