I just bought an electron for my 2005 cr250 and it works good. I tried all the jetting, changing needles and different kits with the stock carb and its a pain in the butt. electron is so simple and fast to adjust, its worth the $$. Now I can spend the 2 hours a week I have available to ride, actually riding instead of unscrewing my bowl, draining gas and messing with jets and needles and clips instead of ripping the 2 stroke. one thing I learned is when the bike starts easy like in your video, low end is too lean.
Ryan Moore yeh it was a little lean but now that I changed the clip position down to the second, it runs so good. Yeh I totally see your point, the lectron definitely allows you to just ride without having to make changes but I was trying to show ppl for just a little bit of money you can get your bike running really well!
@@FULLTHROTTLEFILMZ No doubt, good info. Your bike is sick ! Here is my 2007 cr250 supermot stunt bike. I have a 2005 for motocross now ua-cam.com/video/RC0A078skhM/v-deo.html
The idle going up when you pull the clutch means it is running lean. That could be caused by a small idle jet or by the needle. The first clip on a needle is usually extreme, I would try the clips in the middle first and see how it works. To check the main jet you need to give it full gas while the revs are low in a high gear and see if the revs increase regularly without bogging. Try to start with a higher jet, where you can clearly notice the bike struggling to rev up, then work your way down until it revs fine. It's safer to keep it a bit rich if you run it on the streets, expecially the needle and idle, since you aren't always flat out as you would be on the track.
Nicola Colombara thank you sooo much that was very good info for me! I’m currently changing the clip on the needle down one and putting my 420 main back in as well should richen the bike up a bit more and fix this. It is definitely a bit too lean right now after hearing some ppls opinions.
Ok the clutch rev thing could be a few things: 1. Idle is too high 2. Air leak (super unlikely engine has new seals, I will check the carb boots again) 3. Maybe too lean (I think it’s ok) So I will comment back later if I fix it! ***FURTHER UPDATE The bike WAS running lean. I moved the clip from the first to second position and now the bike does not rev surge when I pull in the clutch as it gets hot. Now I pull in the clutch and revs drop down to a smooth idle. Bike is running cooler and feels great now. I also turned the throttle stop screw in which dropped my idle a bit and left the airscrew 1 1/4 turns out. I will pull the plug tomorrow after a longer ride to show it’s running better! Huge thanks to all you guys 🙏🏼
FULL THROTTLE FILMZ hey I just put tire marker on my dirt bike and it looks amazing you should try it I posted it on my Instagram if you wanna check it out dirt_Redemption
I know its been like a year but the reeds could be bad. I went through the exact thing chasing down the problem checking for air leaks and rejetting multiple times. The reeds a just a sliver of a gap that caused a really bad hanging idle
I put a "JD jetting kit" in my old 2003 cr250 and it make the bike super crisp, NO BOGGING, and extremely responsive. It's all in the needles!! Their kit is $85 dollars but well worth it, kit comes with different jets as well.
Just picked up a sweet 2003 CR250. I've been off 2 strokes for only 2 years, rode them my whole life. Currently my bike runs like shat and I am waiting for some free time to play with the jetting. This video is super helpful as I still have the stock carb and it just needs some TLC.
dirtfreek1 that’s awesome the cr250 is such a great bike! These changes I made to this carb were cheap and made it run really really good. I have a lectron now but this Mikuni tuned can be super crisp. Glad the video could help!
You don't have a air leak the hi rev is from your bike not getting enough fuel. A fast fix put the clip on 2 and see. If it still has a little high rev put it on 3. This will take the high rev out of it when you get off the gas. put your 410, 420 back in it dose need more fuel. Clip on top and you are good to go That sucks you can't roll your carb around to change your jets
250race okay you know what i will throw the 420 I have back in, clip on the second position and also turn the air screw in because the engine surges off the idle when I pull the clutch in.
Thanks brother all the issues you've had are all exactly what I am having even the high idle when off clutch and I'm really glad you got it figured out, thanks also to 250race who helped us out, definitely gonna try this on my 02 cr250
It's been a little while since I've seen a two stroke up close. I haven't owned one in probably 20 years, and it's been almost that long since the last time I worked on one. It's crazy how much less complicated the engine is, lol. Especially the head.
nice bike. what a sparkplug u put? i bboth cr250r 2006 and its need a good revision step by step. before carb adjusment and settings start from air leek test? what u think/?
carb. She ran last year, But it would spit oil out of the silencer pretty bad. Now this year, I’m fouling plugs and can’t keep it going for more than a few min with a new spark plug in it. Do you think this is my issue ??
I seen in one of your videos that you have the tusk radiator cap with temp gauge but said it wasn’t working great. I happened to put the same cap on my build and as a result it pours coulant out from the over flow line. Is something you have experienced? Thanks
My cap with temp gauge wouldn’t even stay on and ended up losing a bunch of coolant out the top, also the temp display was off after a few rides. So I put the oem back on and no problems anymore
to check the color of the plug you must turn off the engine and press the clutch while riding after 2,3 kms in high speed, gear , and then check the color . and better not use iridiun to it
FULL THROTTLE FILMZ i cant help you i never had one of thoes só i never researched what the specs ar . I dont know if is because its a vídeo but sounds a bit off when you do a pull
So for that idle thing, spray wd40 around the carb boots and see if the idle changes, if it's not that than maybe the flywheel side crank seal is leaking, but it's weird that it's only when the clutch is pulled on
250race it has tusk seals but I know it isn’t an air leak because this started happened after the rejet so it must be a slightly lean air screw and main jet
You are still motorbraking, but you will learn it in some months/1year. You should meaby get better tires at some point to get better grip and prevent a crash. I have heard that bigger idlejet helps you not blow up your motor so easily, but you should not motorbrake even then. And lastly that bike is the sexiest honda i have ever seen 👍
persettäkatuun i am trying so hard not to!!! I pull the clutch in every time I let off the gas. These Pirelli diablo rossa tires aren’t good? Thank you 🙏🏼 I really appreciate that! It definitely is to me!
You're too lean, leaner the bike is, better it runs but in your case you're way too lean. Continue jetting the carb and to see the coloration after each ride you can clean your plug with sand paper and brake cleaner.
Adrien Barros no doubt I changed the clip on the needle to the second position and now the bike is running better, no rev surges when I pull in the clutch. I will take a vid of the plug and show it in the next video but I think it’s all good now! Thanks man
Dude, you made this sound like a guide to fix a carb, but in the end you adjusted the bike too lean, and need help to read a plug? What the f. Yhe problem most people have with the stock carbs is when they wear out, both the slide, where it rides in the carb, and also the needle. Poeple usually fix some of the issues, but arent able to fix them all, and get frustrated after tearing the carb down over and over.
Jens Eskildsen it was one clip position too lean. That day it was colder. Overall the bike improved dramatically and after I moved the clip it ran as strong as a lectron carb does.
