When i about nine or ten years old, my parents just tell me to sleep and then close the door. About many month of nightmare cause i'm young and fear of ghosts, even when i'm cry and run to their room because threatened by nightmare, they still don't let me in. Now 10 Years of life i'm 12 and i started closing the door about 4/5 months ago because my parents were very "loud" at night. i still have a nightlight though
definitely a transition this with my daughter. she was a cosleeper with me and it was harder for me to get used to her warm cuddles! but a tip: I started with laying down next to her until she slept, snuck out and the first few nights she noticed in the middle of the night but it got less and less until it became the whole night! and doing a bedtime routine from start to finish and consistency allowed her to prepare to sleep alone. IE bath, brush, bedtime story, good night kisses from the whole family, picking a bedtime pal stuffy and then lights out.
So glad you openly share how tough sleep arrangements can be-- we are living that!! Going to implement the "I'll be back in 5 minutes" trick 👍👍 P.S. Barbie organizer on the door FTW!
In my opinion the best way is to have a family member record themselves telling some interesting stories and then have the kid fall asleep to it (my parents did this for me)
I wish my parents did something like this for me when I was younger. I just remember one night when I was 6 my parents told me to go in my room and locked the door behind me from the outside.

We do a sticker chart with our son too. He's 3.5 and has always slept alone, but getting the bedtime routine to be less than a million hours/goodbyes/drinks/stories/songs long has been a struggle. We also have an alarm clock that has a stop light on it and when it's red he stays in bed, when it's yellow he can play quietly in his room, and when it's green he can come out. He loves it!

So I’m 11... I had night terrors for 2 months when I was 10 My dad had to wake me up after half an hour for about 3 months And to be honest I still do some of the stuff now

Do it really early! I took my sons crib away at 14 months. He did really good the first night sleeping in his toddler bed. As long as they have their favorite toys and blanket in the bed. And NEVER accustom your babies/toddlers to sleep on your bed. Do not rock them to sleep after 4 months. This will save you one day.
I honestly found it hard to sleep on my own and started at 7 because I'd always have nightmares and my parents would say they would come back in a minute so I wouldn't sleep for the whole night until they came back to 'wake me up' in the morning :)
I started sleeping in my own bed when I was 2 years old but my brother didn’t until he was like 8 even though his room was closer to my parents room and he didn’t even have a door to his room it was a curtain he still chose and old uncomfortable living room sofa instead

Give him a stuffed animal or soft toy that he can sleep with. Tell him that his toy will always be by his side as he sleeps. Also assure him that you're always nearby. I'm not an expert and I haven't even had kids, but it's worth a try :)
I tell my kid "its ok to wake up ay night... mommy and daddy wake up also. But u have to think about a happy thought...like sliding or playing...and then keep ur eyes closed"... I also put a little stuffed animal they can hold very tight if they wake up. on the wall of my sons bed...i put some illustrations of what he can do when he wakes up... hold a teddy bear, think about something that makes him happy, count some numbers. hope this helps!!!

Do it really early! I took my sons crib away at 14 months. He did really good the first night sleeping in his toddler bed. As long as they have their favorite toys and blanket in the bed. And NEVER accustom your babies/toddlers to sleep on your bed. Do not rock them to sleep after 4 months. This will save you one day.

I honestly found it hard to sleep on my own and started at 7 because I'd always have nightmares and my parents would say they would come back in a minute so I wouldn't sleep for the whole night until they came back to 'wake me up' in the morning :)
When i was little, i just didn’t sleep at all. They thought i waked up before everyone lol.
I started sleeping in my own bed when I was 2 years old but my brother didn’t until he was like 8 even though his room was closer to my parents room and he didn’t even have a door to his room it was a curtain he still chose and old uncomfortable living room sofa instead

My son 5 years old still so so scared to sleep alone. Everyday my husband wait till he fall asleep then leave the room. But my son still wake up at least once at night looking for my husband to lay down with him. Anyone has suggestions what to do?.
Give him a stuffed animal or soft toy that he can sleep with. Tell him that his toy will always be by his side as he sleeps. Also assure him that you're always nearby. I'm not an expert and I haven't even had kids, but it's worth a try :)
I am no expert but maybe try having a picture of you and your husband near by? Close enough so he can see it, maybe it'll comfort him.

I tell my kid "its ok to wake up ay night... mommy and daddy wake up also. But u have to think about a happy thought...like sliding or playing...and then keep ur eyes closed"...
I also put a little stuffed animal they can hold very tight if they wake up.
on the wall of my sons bed...i put some illustrations of what he can do when he wakes up... hold a teddy bear, think about something that makes him happy, count some numbers.
