We were worried about Mazda's plans to become a luxury brand. About forty years ago, the sociable mid-luxury market stopped existing. (How is the Oldsmobile running right now?) It had a canopy that was a little longer than what was needed for the Wankel rotary engine that Mazda was thinking about at the time. Anything that makes you look better is better than a rear-wheel drive sports car. Another great choice is a flexible car with rear-wheel drive.
