    I love how it sounds almost like ambiance at first, since most of the threats in filtration system go unnoticed at first

    To me, it almost fits perfectly. Although Filtration System is meant to be part of the iterator intake system, the arps(?) are just a little too watery-sounding - changing the instrument to something that sounded more chiptune-y would probably fit better.
    But it really does nail the vibe of being in a dark, closed-in space, the dim red lights flickering, and danger is everywhere around you. You aren't meant to be here. And you can't even see the creatures that are trying to kill you.
    You have one final stretch to go before you're finally free, but if you're not careful, this final task might just be the most challenging one.
    You're doing well, you're confident that you can finally escape, but soon as you start to hear the jittery static, you know that you're probably wrong.

      I think the arps fit into the music. They don't really change, which adds to the anxiety of the song and kinda reminds about the rain and the fact that there's only a few shelters

      Filtration system is not part of the iterator intake system, it was built to filter void fluid of it's impurity's.

    i cannot imagine us seeing the perspective of the slugcat we are playing as, that would be downright scary

      Some people are building rain world in minecraft, and that will be first person, there's already a few examples of what those dark pipes would look like from that perspective.

    A lot of people keep commenting on the arp and how it does not fit the atmosphere of the song. I actually like the contrast it provides though! Music theory wise, it repeats itself in a rather mysterious manner and does not change throughout the song. So a rather minor sounding arp goes from just a cool tune to a contrast that builds tension in the song which I think really fits this area! I'd love it if someone were able to mod in the song as actual threat music. I imagine the song would have to be divided into stems like the others. The ambience layer for inital threat, drums for the next stage, the bass for anther step in threat, and finally the arp at the end when something is actively chasing you.
    Love the song man!

    this area for me even when i was inexperienced was easy, i literally just stabbed the lizards and went to subterranean and to the depths

    I really like the song, only thing that doesn't fit for me is when the piano(?) starts and onward around the first minute, because it doesn't quite fit the image of the game, for me.

      I partially agree, rainworld's musical style [especially the threat themes] is really hard to nail down so I'm trying to improve with each one I make. I do really appreciate criticism like this though. I think the stuff I'm making has its own vibe, kind of like how the threat themes for downpour sound different from base game. Not in a bad way or a way that sounds out of place, just different. I hope the stuff I make hits that region of being unique, but not too different from the ost. Anyways, sorry for the long rant, and thank you for the criticism. I really love improving and I'll never be mad at your opinions, so don't be afraid to tell me what you think :]

      ​@@roastedandtoasted187Hey! I heard somewhere that James Primate did the original threat tracks and general soundtrack through something called junk noise/music; I'd look into it if it's something of interest to you/would help you nail down the original style used in the game ^^

      Iirc it involves using unusual sounds for music (ie banging metal bars together) and then distorting them in specific ways via sound manipulation of that helps in your search at all

    Most people say they hate filtration system, but I absolutely love sound mechanics in games. Where the enemies cannot see you whatsoever, but can hear your every move. So much so, that they could be standing directly in front of you, and as long as you don't move, they cannot get you. I'm pretty sure I had a horde of black lizards literally climb on top of me and walked over me, and I was safe cuz I didn't move. I don't remember that too well, so I may have remembered it wrong, but it's still a great mechanic. The warden in minecraft kinda ruins that cuz it can smell you, but other games do it really well, especially rain world.

      I'm really appreciating this out of nowhere comment, the warden is a really lame implimentation, and I think it's one scenerio where a blind enemy is just horribly annoying

      @@roastedandtoasted187 I think the point of the warden is that you stay quiet not to spawn it, but the place is loaded with sculk sensors, so that's near impossible

      @@Chipiiiii also minecraft doesn't really benefit from a change of pace like that, rain world can tolerate it because it has so many areas that require you to use items and change strategies in order to pass through, you have to bend to the will of the world in rw, in minecraft it's the opposite so it just seems like a weird change of pace
