Well the thing with villains is they're not only very nasty but also not very bright. One reason why he became evil and tried to get rid of the cats due to the fact the he would have got the fortune after the cats were gone was because he believed in the myth that cats have nine lives which is not true.

I used to have this on VHS tape, Edgar got what he deserved in the end but you can't help but find him as one of the funniest Disney villains who's extremely wisecracking.
@@oddish4352 I know that, i'm just saying it's funny how Edgar also stopped cause: One: He's the bad guy so who would stop when a good guy demands too. two: He's human and they're animals. As far as we know, the humans of this movie probably can't hear animals communicate in english.

1:15 LOL!!! That gasp sound effect also used in Winnie The Pooh and Tigger Too and The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh as Rabbit and Pooh's gasping.
And to think even though Edgar kinda got what he deserved in the end, He was also one of the few Disney villains that were actually in the right all along because looking at it from Edgar's point of view he worked for the Madame for God knows how many years and all of a sudden she's leaving her fortune to her cats? that's not quite fair especially since hello, they are literally animals i mean what are animals gonna do with all that money? I mean i'm not saying Edgar deserved her fortune either but still.
Nya, the situation is even more unfortunate than that. Duchess and the kittens inheriting the fortune is a mere formality, basically to make sure that neither Edgar nor some hypothetical person Edgar married after that kicked the cats out of the mansion. In theory that also gave Edgar an incentive to continue taking good care of them. Edgar would have the role of administrator of the money and in practice he could spend it on whatever he wanted as long as the cats were well cared for. Madame Adelaide believed that Edgar would immediately understand her intentions without her having to go into detail. Unfortunately Edgar is not as insightful as she thought. Edgar believed that Adelaide was humiliating him and that, even more than the idea of receiving the inheritance, brought out the worst in him.
I like how Edgar does not seem to be extremely cruel. It would have been easy for him to just kill Duchess and her kittens, but instead, he chooses only to kidnap them and release them into the French countryside; when that doesn't work, he decides to ship them to Timbuktu as well as when he fought Thomas O'Malley with a pitchfork, he uses it to restrain the cat instead of impaling and killing him. This means that Edgar clearly has a better sense of morality .
It was unknown where he was taking them to in the beginning. And his intention was not to kill them. I mean he would of trap them in the chest in the shed to take them to timbunktu in the beginning. But he never did until the ending.
Edgar is a totally evil mean and cruel villain. They don't know how to take care of themselves in the countryside so they would have died a painful death out there. And they were going to die in the trunk on the way to Timbuktu. Edgar didn't want to be blamed directly, that's all. What a crap weasel!
It is quite understandable why Edgar wanted to get rid of the cats but he should be happy he even has a job. Especially a job that I’m sure most people would kill for.
I really wish in this movie that Madame finds out that Edgar was behind all this with her cats. Since in one book about this movie she finds out and gets Edgar fired for that, then he leaves her mansion for ever.

Edgar probably got out of the trunk not long after, there’s too many people would have heard him through handling the crate along the way. Afterwards he probably returned straight to the mansion as there is absolutely no suggestion anyone knew what he was upto apart from the cats
In a German book adaption, it is revealed that the crate arrived in Equatorial Africa (it is not specified whether it is Equatorial Africa itself or French Equatorial Africa) where Edgar was arrested for illegal immigration.
One year later, but Edgar is 50 something years old man who got kicked unconscious by a horse and put in a sealed chamber, with the early 1900s medicine, he probably died.
Seen it! Brings back memories, funny part I liked was when Roquefort was trying to guide the ally cats to help O'malley, that man drinking saw and thought he was hallucinating. At 2:28 it is the same animation after the cat family and O'Malley escaped the milkman, with a different background. And of course Tolouse hissing also happened at that part, and also before the painting scene.
Looks like Frou Frou was a big help to O'Malley and his longtime alley cat buddies. Not to mention that Roquefort helped out as well. And it looks like Toulouse was showing Edgar his toughness, too.
