My wanted flute.
Excelent fife I really love it.
I had one of those! Back in the late '70s...
Nice video! I was lucky to get a used Aulos 101 (that's what it's called) for very little money recently. I didn't know it was so old, though. Unlike its nowadays' successor, the Aulos C-21, it has three double holes. So fingering a# and d# is really easy. Unlike the recorder, the thumb hole is for c and c# only- which makes playing more like on a concerto flute. And it's black, which I think looks much better than the ivory C-21. Sounds great. I like this flute!
Cool. 😃
Recently bought one just because I wanted to try something similar to the flute, the instrument on which I started my musical journey (then switched - Now I'm graduated in Musicology, and getting a Degree in Composition too).
I admit I completely forgot anything about embouchure, maybe I should ask a flutist for some tips...
Hello. Thank you for the interesting video. I recently bought the same flute. Can you please tell me, does she have a standart fingering chart for the "Fife" flute? Thank you.
Very nice. I'm tempted by one of these but I think the new one, the Pipit, is smaller, although it does have a wooden cork. I recognize the piece you played, I recently played it on recorder
Shepherds Hey. :)

Oh thank you very much for the video. You did it so nice. I have to confess that I don't like the timber of the flute, and its airy as well. I will look for Aulos flauto traverso. All the best!
Excelent I got mine.
Thanks for doing this. It looks like you are playing in the void lol
My Aulos 101 is 35 years old now, bought when I was in grade 8 or 9. The 101 sounds similar to Yamaha YRF-21 (which I guess developed from the 101). Any way, I feel the new model (C-21) sounds clearer than both.
I’d agree… I’ve just been filming some more fife videos and I feel that’s what I found it too.
It sounds like a plastic piccolo, to my ears, and that's not a bad sound. In particular, it's less piercing on the high notes than a metal piccolo. I might have to pick one of these up, if I can't find a piccolo with the extension to low C (or even B) as I'd like, at a price I can live with. I'm willing to bet you can get it well into the third octave, where the dogs really go nuts. I can't get the third octave B♮ or C out of a piccolo, but the musical usefulness of those notes is pretty questionable anyhow.
I’ve got a few more fife videos coming up!
Esse pife e da hora
Hello. I have had this flute for over 40 years. I would like to start playing it again. But I lost the note paper. Please, can you help me? Thanks Fabio.

É flauta ou pifaro?
Is it fully chromatic? Just curious....
It is yes. :)
Onde se consegue comprar essa flauta pífano.
I think this is the closest thing you can get now: www.amazon.co.uk/Aulos-C-21-C-21-Fife/dp/B001H2G3V0/
What is its model? I have never seen a BLACK Aulos fife!
I'm pretty sure it's an Aulos 101 fife. But you can't get them anymore except on places like ebay. www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/aulos-fife-101-513077039
Check out my comparison video though - there are fifes that are new and possibly better. I unboxed a couple too. :) ua-cam.com/video/hXIY4emne5w/v-deo.html

I think this is the closest model you can get now: www.dawsons.co.uk/234549/aulos-c-21-fife
@@FolkieFlute the link doesn't seem to work, but maybe being in the US makes a difference.
@@socky1965 The Dawsons website doesn't seem to be working anymore, I found it on Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/Aulos-C-21-C-21-Fife/dp/B001H2G3V0
Where can I buy one
I don't think they're made any more - but this one seems quite close: www.amazon.co.uk/Aulos-C-21-C-21-Fife/dp/B001H2G3V0
Is better fife or recoder?
I can't really answer that for you I'm afraid. I tend to keep a recorder on my desk for trying things out. But it wouldn't really make any difference to me. You need to decide if you want to practise with the embouchure needed for the fife or if you just want to play a recorder. I like both.
Maybe make less grimaces when you tell?!
:D I just have a very expressive face! 🤣
Every kid should have one in their backpack. However, now it may be considered a symbol of colonialism and be shunned by their school principal.
