Joe I am currently renting an Atlas V6 SE. while we really like it for the most part, I do have a few Zonks myself. Something I discovered today while the cruise was on. Of the cars I’ve owned, while in cruise mode, if you hit the minus, you coast. Not the Atlas, it brakes! Very shocking to see that happen. Another Zonk is unlocking the car to enter. I used to be able to touch my hand by the handle to unlock it with the fob in my pocket. Now I have to use the fob to unlock it manually. Will have to read up on that in the manual. I own an 06 Highlander (in the body shop) and the Atlas is larger in every sense. My daughter has a Yukon and it’s the same exact length as the Atlas but the Yukon of course is about 6” taller, but inside the Atlas is packaged better.
We own a SEL Atlas R-Line and we love the space. The cargo space makes it very easy for us to store our double stroller for our twins. I would have preferred for the Atlas to have more power.

The Atlas was definitely larger, but just felt cheap compared to the Palisade. The Atlas was missing a lot of the options and technology we saw in the Palisade - heated/cooled 2nd row, USB's in 3rd row, driver talk, blind spot cameras, self-driving and more.
Have you ever seen a 10 year old Hyundai? It might look pretty now but holy shit they fall apart like no other..One thing Kia motors does is rework everyone's tech. And cheap out anywhere they can which makes for a shitty long term vehicle

Another great review of one of my fav SUVs. I really REALLY like the Atlas, it has a capable Haldex Gen5 AWD system, very good trans, proven VR6 engine that needs a bit more power, lots of room and cargo capacity. The Atlas is Alex on Auto's favorite SUV bc he likes the sharp edge design. I tend to agree, very classy & Macho! It's a stand out amongst all the other generic & feminine styling SUV's all over the place! I think the only other sharped SUV is the Range Rover which is also another German vehicle I believe. However, weighing almost 5,000 lbs requires a turbo to give it a much needed 100 bump in HP! And VW, would you please add a little more luxury stylin to the interior like chrome covered door speakers & little more contrast stitching throughout the cabin? One more thing Volkswagen, if you're paying attention to consumers here in the USA, 4 motion should come standard on that beautiful Beast!
I love the looks and I wnna buy this but the only thing tht holds me back is the performance😐 vw do somthing give it some more power, a turbo in v6 or somthng to just give it a little more.
With all that new technology VW is still using an engine designed in the late 90's first used in 2005 to power this heavy vehicle. the top of the line VR6 puts out 276HP and 266 TQ in a vehicle that weighs between 5600 and 6000 pounds. You may be better off buying the 2.0T and adding a 1000 dollar tune so you can get 300 HP and 320 TQ. Seth Perfect It’s still a KIA. Hyundai and KIA should never be taken seriously. The 2018 debut year had some problems yes but they did ALOT to it in a year
Trey Fisse what does Kia/Hyundai name have to do with anything ? That’s your personal opinion just cuz you wouldn’t buy don’t mean no one else will.people get what they want because THEY want not because others don’t like it or wouldn’t
Naming it Atlas means it should have the best navigation and can carry the world in the trunk.Just joking , I'm really waiting for the A35 / A45s video's
Ours does too. Typically happens going uphill. Took it in, they said it supposed to do that. Can't exactly remember what they say makes it do that. Something to give it more power and the part makes the weird noise. VW is supposedly aware of it and there isn't a fix for it yet, but they say there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, it just sounds bad.
@@duanejward78Despite what they said, engines aren't supposed to make weird noises under strain. That's a nice way of saying "its gonna have to break or get a recall before we are forced to take care of this issue".
My wife's Atlas is at the dealer for that right now. The noise has gotten worse and now the trans has a shutter (shakes the car). It's been at the dealer 3 times for the noise and they say it's normal. I think not and it didn't do it when it was new.
How would you stack the Atlas SEL vs the 2020 Explorer XLT? I'm a current Explorer owner (2014) but I don't want to spend 44 or 45k for my next vehicle. SEL R-Lines around me on the lot for 39-40k, and I feel like you get a lot more features, etc vs an Explorer for the same price. I think Ford is a little insane with the prices on these new Explorers - I paid 34k new for my current XLT with twin panel moonroof and nav and AWD.
love the truck. Have this year SUV in model one below R-Line. in the vid looks clean and tight but the wheels look ashy. get some shine on them wheels with those 20's to get them poppin
I've always wondered why car reviewers do "exhaust clips" for vehicles that are not sports cars.... I need to hear a ferrari exhaust..... Not a Camry or Atas exhaust.... It's kinda nonsensical to hear an suv exhaust..... No one ever said, "hey great SUV, start it up... lets see how it sounds" .....
kbk011 thanks and that is what my brother was telling me a little bit ago said compared to those two that they are cheap quality, ride rougher and are not as reliable
resell value of the atlas is brutal. I unfortunately know since I am going to be trading mine in after a year of headaches. But do you really think KIA is going to be strong in that dept? Haven't those vehicles notoriously fallen apart as they age and resell plummeted? I don't know that I could trust spending $40k + on the brand. But I did on the VW - Man was I stooooopid! LOL.
Well if u can afford the gasoline sure u can but it drinks like a little child when u offer then milk with strawberry taste ... I still cant understand why they dont put in a Disel 3.0 like in the Audi Q7
@@RaitisRides Thank you for the prompt response. I drove the Subaru and the CVT just didn't feel the part with 4+ persons on-board. The 3rd row space is not there for a 5' 7"" guy either and the software lags at times.

very nice review. I will agree that it is a very nice car for the money when its not in the shop. Very under powered to a fault, especially for the poor gas mileage. We knew this going in as we were willing to give up a little power up for the interior layout and warranty but its terribly under powered to a level of annoyance. I will say that its a beautiful car. It drives very nice, quiet and smooth and the interior space and layout is best in class. Unfortunately, That is about all of the positives I can say. We bought a 19' se w/tech v6 4 motion rline 13 months ago and it now has 35k on it. with in the first 8 months is was great, in the last 5 it has had 4 warranty repairs and a coolant issue that still isn't fixed( been to the dealer 3x). I'm seriously considering filing a lemon law suit as VW corp is completely worthless and not willing to stand behind their product.
@@RaitisRides update... as of this morning its getting a new head gasket among other various parts @ 35k miles!... complete garbage! I'll never own a VW again after this.
WARNING: Okay, no one should buy this car. Here's my story about my 2019 VW Atlas: My husband and I bought our 2019 VW Atlas in June of 2019, brand new. It only had approximately 15 miles on it. We were enjoying our vehicle and thought it was awesome. Fast forward to late April 2020/early May 2020, I start the car to leave for work in the morning and a notification from the car says, "Transmission in emergency mode, drive with caution." Sooooo...what? I call VW when I get to work and make an appointment with my local VW dealer. After 2 days without my car (they provided me a loaner car), I received a call from them stating it was ready to be picked up. I picked it up and they relayed to me that the drive shaft HAD TO BE REPLACED. Y'all, this is a 2019 vehicle. It hadn't even been 12 months since we purchased it. It didn't even have 13,000 miles on it, at this point. ALSO, the mechanic's report was four pages long. The mechanic noticed other things what VW had not done correctly to the vehicle and he had to fix them. Example, the screws were stripped. IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY LIKE THIS. After returning home and showing my husband the report, he stated they did $10,000 worth of work to this vehicle. Grant you, it's under warranty until 72,000, butttttt this shouldn't happen in a BRAND NEW vehicle with less than 13,000 miles. This is a $40,000 car we are talking about. OH, BUT IT GETS BETTER. Fast forward to September 2020, my husband and I are leaving to drive about a hour away to my in-law's house when ANOTHER notification pops up stating, "Coolant level is low. Check owner's manual." WHAT? At this point, the car has about 13,500 miles on it....still nothing that would warrant this notification popping up. Sooooo...we call VW again and make another appointment. Now, VW tells us that VW doesn't know how to fix this issue (it was leaking coolant, but there was never a spot in our driveway so we had no clue) and that when it happens again (because it will happen again, it is a leak after all) to just bring it back and they will refill it. ALSOOOOO, the cruise control works when it wants to. My husband asked about this when he dropped it off (the second time in September 2020) and they, again, told us VW doesn't know how to fix this issue yet. YOU GUYS. We haven't even had the car for 18 months yet. It's been 15 months. The car doesn't even have 14,000 on it. It was a $40,000 vehicle. PLEASE. Don't buy this vehicle. This was my experience and my husband's experience. I've looked online, and others seem to complain too about their VW. I never write things like this, especially so drawn out, but I WISH I KNEW WHAT I KNOW NOW. Hindsight is 2020. 😭

Naming it Atlas means it should have the best navigation and can carry the world in the trunk.Just joking , I'm really waiting for the A35 / A45s video's
Stay tuned William!
Does this car only have front wheel drive? I’m not sure how much I like front wheel drive
No it's got AWD optionally
The place behind the shifter you zonked has a drive selecter in my atlas maybe yours just doesn’t have it
That could be it!
It looks like an Audi! So beautiful!
They make Audi so it figures
“We got a race car drivin by” - Joe
My 2019 brand new atlas is making a noise when I accelerate sometimes.
Have you taken it in?
Ours does too. Typically happens going uphill. Took it in, they said it supposed to do that. Can't exactly remember what they say makes it do that. Something to give it more power and the part makes the weird noise. VW is supposedly aware of it and there isn't a fix for it yet, but they say there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, it just sounds bad.
Its called engine strain caused by putting an under powered engine in heavy vehicle.
Love how you throw up the pyramid and the 6's.
This was a strong contender for wifey and I so we drove one… didn’t like it actually.. feel like I was driving a K series blazer.
Fake exhaust end..Like the enclave. Why bother?
I feel your pain!
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Great review!!!
Thanks for saying that! Your support really means a lot!
Simple and easy every thing about Atlas
I worry about how long we can use this car some car are looking good but after 100k miles it starts the problem so...
love the truck. Have this year SUV in model one below R-Line. in the vid looks clean and tight but the wheels look ashy. get some shine on them wheels with those 20's to get them poppin
How much mpg in city/freeway?
I've always wondered why car reviewers do "exhaust clips" for vehicles that are not sports cars.... I need to hear a ferrari exhaust..... Not a Camry or Atas exhaust.... It's kinda nonsensical to hear an suv exhaust..... No one ever said, "hey great SUV, start it up... lets see how it sounds" .....
I like to bring all aspects of a vehicle.
Interior lights should stay on until you put in drive.
That is a very good point James!
What would you choose between atlas, palisade or telluride for reliability, comfort, options and ride?
Rob Mercado I would never chose vw. Horrible reliability and expensive to fix
kbk011 thanks and that is what my brother was telling me a little bit ago said compared to those two that they are cheap quality, ride rougher and are not as reliable
I am going Telluride!
Thanks for sharing your input!
Very good points from your brother!
I can't stop looking at this one. However I favor the Telluride for resale value. Both base models are fair at $33k
I totally agree with you!
resell value of the atlas is brutal. LOL.
Can it fit in a standard garage
Yes it can
Joe, great review. The Atlas has been plagued with reliability issues. Has VW done anything to address the problems?
Thanks Edward! From what I understand, yes.
Edward Brinson well it was a new vehicle and they work out the kinks. Mine has been flawless so far
Well if u can afford the gasoline
sure u can
but it drinks like a little child when u offer then milk with strawberry taste ...
I still cant understand why they dont put in a Disel 3.0 like in the Audi Q7
We love ours!
Always nice to get real input from actual owners!
Great review! How do you compare the relaliability and after sale value of the Atlas with the front line competitors?
Thanks for saying that Ali. I think the value overall if decent. A Subaru would have better resale value. I haven't heard of major reliability issues.
@@RaitisRides Thank you for the prompt response. I drove the Subaru and the CVT just didn't feel the part with 4+ persons on-board. The 3rd row space is not there for a 5' 7"" guy either and the software lags at times.
Great video. I am turn between the Atlas and the Traverse. I see some similarities but how does each compare with riding and maintenance?
I think they will be very similar.
May I point something out Joe. You love to say "Comfortable." It's your favorite word and the way you say it. You say comfortable with a silent "T". Thought I'd point that out. Probably you can substitute comfortable with relaxing just to break up the pattern. To get some contrast 😃.
Thanks for the feedback! I will use some other descriptive words.
Did Chrysler approve the design?
iLovewood lol Chrysler
Good review.
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
In Germany, we call this car "DEUTSCHE INGENIEURSKUNST".
My type of vehicle... Very classy 😇
This is true!
I know 3 people with one of these, all 3 of them have had problems with them. One is trying it get it lemoned.
sixsixST2 ever since VW scandal, I lost faith on their vehicles.
That is crazy! I appreciate you sharing that!
@@Outdoor-Adventures Many people have!
Are the parts hard to get?
Not that I am aware of.
Hi! I didn’t catch if you mentioned this, but does it have the feature where you can start it from the outside like the Jeep Grand Cherokee?
No it does not because it is a manual transmission.
Marle remote start? I don’t think so
Well finished like most VW's...needs more HP. It's a boat...i can live with the price...They should sell a lot of them. With op X4 wheel drive
I think I rather have a Subaru!
DO A REVIEW ON 2020
They are not at dealerships yet.
I’m going to zonk this review. Just kidding great job!
Thanks Keith! I appreciate you letting me share it with you!
It was in my sights until the Telluride came out!
I totally can understand that!
Me too
Lol right
Joe is obsessed with ventilated seats lol.
Brother is your merch shipped to India?
Yes it does Rahul! Thanks for the support!
Thanks for letting me know the price on the vehicle at begging of the video and not the end.
Byeeee. 🙈
See ya!
Great informative review. Though it's bland inside and out and underpowered compared to most in this class. I'd pass on it, and VW needs to step up there game like Kia did.
I totally agree with you!
398 a months 39 mo 0 down tax included into payments literally sign and drive.. 12k MILES a year for this exact model. ILL TAKE IT... just picked up mine yeaterday..
Was paying 670/ mo on a GLE 350 4matic 68kmsrp yes this is bland compared but lot more room
3 toddlers I needed the room.. and saving 300.. I'll take it
nice VW SUV, they should have this in the Philippines.
I am so glad that you like this one!
@@RaitisRides the VW models that we have are the Tiguan , Lavida, Santana, Lamando ( Camry's rival ) base variant Santana manual transmission, all of these models are assembled in china.
Up here in Canada, this version comes with AWD. Maybe all the v6 are awd, I’m not sure.
Great job done here with the review and this suv is slow I mean really slow I test drove one about a year ago
Thanks I appreciate you saying that! You are right is not the fastest.
Very nice overall. Would love to see a 2019 Volkswagen Golf R. Thanks Joe.
Oh just wait Jay, just wait!
@@RaitisRides Sure thing
@@JayPatel-tx1zc Thanks!
@@RaitisRides U Bet
Which do you prefer ...the Telluride or the Atlas? I love your reviews!!!
I would go Telluride all day long! Thanks for your awesome support!
Vw altas had more space against ascent, pilot, highlander even in third row seat.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Só do the breaks have good feedback or no??lol. He contradicted himself lol
Iam a auto technician for along time n repairing these German cars is a nightmare
I appreciate you sharing your input Michael!
Brakes so soft, no power, crazy gas guzzler, annoying engine start stop, but tons of comfy room.
very nice review.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I appreciate you watching!
Beautiful vw
