I live about an hour from the A's in Oakland, but I grew up in L.A. Since this was their final season in Oakland, a bunch of us decided to go to a game when they were playing the Dodgers. The Dodgers won 9-1 or something like that. 3/4s of the stadium was filled with Dodger fans, the rest with As fans. It was fun, but the stadium was terrible. I grew up doing to the finest stadium in the league (Dodger Stadium) Parking was a joke. I got out of the car and walked into the stadium, but the people I drove with didn't get in until the 5th inning! The concessions were pathetic. The best thing though was that they had an awesome firework's show. The best one I have ever seen and we got to watch it lying right behind 2nd base in center field. I am looking forward to them playing at River Cats stadium in Sacto, though. Much closer to me and the stadium is not surrounded by homeless villages where people openly shoot up. I will go again when they play the Dodgers. Oakland is a mess and it really needs to get its shit together. I am sure the owner sucks, as well.
I'm somewhat torn. I just got from San Francisco/Oakland a few weeks back. Yes, Oakland looked like a dump from the Bart train Yes, the site around the stadium was a dump Yes, the coliseum itself was a dump. HOWEVER, those were some of the most rabid fans I'd ever seen. I'd rather watch a game with those fans (and arguably in the Oakland Coliseum) over the Rangers at Globe Life Field anyday. I'm 100% confident that if they gave those fans a new stadium it would be packed. There were lots of fans taking the train from San Francisco to watch the As.
I wonder if the stadium will have any chance of being repurposed. most likely it'll just get torn down. RIP to the Oakland A's from a lifelong Giants fan
The Coliseum site will transform into something special. Thriving arena, 2 soccer teams, possible housing, entertainment, bars, etc...and hopefully the area around it will improve too.

@oiler62 It's a Ghetto city in debt with Zero funding available. They also won't bother saving 66th ave since it's car jack crime & abandoned businesses.
Raiders, Warriors, and now A’s leaving Oakland because why would anyone want to have a sports team in a city if trends continue, could be far worse than Memphis or Camden? Might as well turn the city into a maximum security prison.
I hate this for Oakland but what you are seeing is the results of Progressive Left policies in action. The A’s are doing the exact same thing every other pro team and most retail has done. Leave. They are getting exactly what they voted for. Sucks but it’s the truth.
The construction of "Mount Davis" was one of the extreme examples of a renovation that made a baseball stadium look worse. I understand that it was because the Raiders returned to Oakland in 1995, but it was still lousy. The Oakland Coliseum should have been condemned long ago just for the leaky sewage pipes, & the infestation of rates & feral cats. John Fisher (and other possible investors) should have paid for a new stadium, or the owners of other MLB teams should have forced him to sell the team.
I was at the game last night. How could something SO GREAT become extinct?! One man is messing up generations of love for this team! He should be punished for his behavior not rewarded! The Coliseum might be old but it's a FUN place to watch baseball. MLB needs to make it right here in one of THE BIGGEST MEDIA MARKETS IN THE NATION!!
Where the heck are you getting your temperature readings for Sacramento? You make it sound like it's Phoenix or Arlington, yet a simple Google search will show you average temps in July are a high of 95 with a low of 62.
I never understood why Philadelphia preferred the Phillies over the Athletics. Worst case scenario is the Kansas City Royals wanna move, They can always get back the A’s too.
Both teams were garbage in the late 30's to mid 40's. In the late 40's to early 50's, the Phillies became good while the Athletics were trash. The people liked the Phillies more and were fed up with the Athletics being a circus at the ownership level. You'd have to change the name if you move the Phillies as opposed to the Athletics as well.
There will not be a 3rd or 4th deck if its only 35000 so its a smaller look. A minor league park look. So fisher will have a minor league park look in vegas. The whole problem started back in the 60ies and 70ies when both the A's and Raiders had to play in the same building. Other cities around the usa built stadiums for each baseball and football but the bayarea didnt and thats what started the whole problem. As soon as Al Davis wanted luxury boxes and didnt get them. One of the 2 teams needed another stadium and it never happened and now we lost both teams.
Bottom line: 4 Word Series Championships in less than 60 years. Few can match that during that tenure if at all-"big market" or not-including those across the Bay.
So they don't just move to Vegas and play in their AAA park which is newer and nicer. But they move to somewhere that isn't their farm team and almost just as hot. Makes sense. Reno would have been better for weather but not big enough metro area I'm guessing.

The A’s started on the East Coast, moved to the Midwest, then west to Oakland, and eventually they’ll move east to Vegas. They’re bouncing across the map like a pong game.
I was at the last Coyotes game in Arizona in April. I also will be at the last A’s game in Oakland tomorrow.
It's a shame Oakland could not get a new ballpark built.
City politicians lost all 3 teams. Oakland/East Bay is the common denominator. Plenty of chances to provide the public money needed for a new ballpark but their ideology wouldnt let them
Oakland had raised nearly a billion dollars raised for infrastructure per espn for the A's proposed stadium.
Why would any city/county give public money to a billionaire?
@@Fifty_Jay because you benefit from hotels...places to eat..business etc. OAKLAND DIDNT KNOW watch those places be effected
@@starsandstripes76 actually the mayor said they didn't get the 350 million grant money needed for the infrastructure. Just because I'm a billionaire doesn't mean Oakland couldn't contribute. Ita not a charity it's business
4 teams, the California Golden Seals in 1976, for Cleveland
The owner won't eat in the sun. His shadow might ask him for a bite.
I hope Portland gets an MLB team for the Mariners sake!
Portland Oregon Should have gotten a NHL Team a Long Time Ago.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Portland getting this team makes sense. No division realignment needed.
The Coliseum was a dump when I went there on my honeymoon in 1999. The Howard Terminal would have been a beautiful ballpark.
2 other teams leave that city and u blame the owner
what city's worst: Oakland or Chicago?
The final sound bite on the speaker system in oakland should be the theme from Skyfall. 'This is the end"
I heard Spirit Halloween gots first dibs on the stadium 😂
Funny, about tearing down the stadium ten years ago. They had a 30 year bond since 1995.
We really don’t want the A’s in Sacramento long term. We have more pressing needs.
I'm somewhat torn. I just got from San Francisco/Oakland a few weeks back.
Yes, Oakland looked like a dump from the Bart train
Yes, the site around the stadium was a dump
Yes, the coliseum itself was a dump.
It's a terrible neighborhood with zero future.
Yes, looks like the tunnels they have in Las Vegas
The Coliseum site will transform into something special. Thriving arena, 2 soccer teams, possible housing, entertainment, bars, etc...and hopefully the area around it will improve too.
@oiler62
Lol, there is ZERO budget available for development in a city that's a Ghetto festering mess with a %@$# mayor who's facing several fraud charges.
@oiler62
It's a Ghetto city in debt with Zero funding available. They also won't bother saving 66th ave since it's car jack crime & abandoned businesses.
@@oiler62
It's a Ghetto city with zero public funds available. That only means more taxes.
Raiders, Warriors, and now A’s leaving Oakland because why would anyone want to have a sports team in a city if trends continue, could be far worse than Memphis or Camden? Might as well turn the city into a maximum security prison.
Nooooooooooooo ...😢
I hate this for Oakland but what you are seeing is the results of Progressive Left policies in action. The A’s are doing the exact same thing every other pro team and most retail has done. Leave. They are getting exactly what they voted for. Sucks but it’s the truth.
Why is the game so early on a weekday??
Give poor New Mexico a team. Although it is majority Hispanic and Mexicans probably care about soccer much more.
Hispanics like baseball. A baseball team would do well especially if it's the only game in town.
Grew up going to the coliseum for raiders game's and As... super sad...
It will with the San Francisco Giants.
@@willp.8120 Forget the Giants
Where the heck are you getting your temperature readings for Sacramento? You make it sound like it's Phoenix or Arlington, yet a simple Google search will show you average temps in July are a high of 95 with a low of 62.
Didn't raiders owner try to renovate it
Oh yeah, we went to a River Cats game, we almost died from the heat, but it's a cute stadium and was a lot of fun.
The A's need a Steve Ballmer to save them.
They still have the Giants. Thats an upgrade
Montreal id imagine would make a comeback in an expansion
Coliseum will be used for MLS and Cricket. Not being demolished.
As a lifelong Seattle Supersonics/Sonics fan, I feel your pain Oakland A's fans!!!
QUIT COMPLAINING! Seattle is getting ANOTHER NBA team in 2-3 years. It's already in the works
@@RansomHollywoodNot working hard enough it's been 16 years since the Sonics left for OKC
@michaelleroy9281 I agree. They have a good fan base, they just couldn't secure a NEW arena. But the Storm team seems to be HAPPY.
@@RansomHollywood when they built Climate Pledge Arena for the Kraken, they built an NBA locker room in it for a possible Sonics return!!!
@@tahuyachris Then I guess they're coming back, since it's GUARANTEED
I never understood why Philadelphia preferred the Phillies over the Athletics. Worst case scenario is the Kansas City Royals wanna move, They can always get back the A’s too.
Both teams were garbage in the late 30's to mid 40's. In the late 40's to early 50's, the Phillies became good while the Athletics were trash. The people liked the Phillies more and were fed up with the Athletics being a circus at the ownership level. You'd have to change the name if you move the Phillies as opposed to the Athletics as well.
They should move to Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha already has a nice ballpark. All it needs is 15,000 more seats.
How about build an exact replica of the Oakland Coliseum minus Mount Davis?
The city and owner are both at fault and will never get back the A's and the Raiders too.
That’s normal heat here in Louisiana lol
Bottom line: 4 Word Series Championships in less than 60 years. Few can match that during that tenure if at all-"big market" or not-including those across the Bay.
If only they added a dome. The coliseum would have sold out every game.
So they don't just move to Vegas and play in their AAA park which is newer and nicer. But they move to somewhere that isn't their farm team and almost just as hot. Makes sense. Reno would have been better for weather but not big enough metro area I'm guessing.
I think they also get to keep some TV money by staying in that part of California, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
@@RogerBates7 Good point I'm sure something like that is in play.
When they get to Vegas, it would be better if they were called the Nevada A's, instead of Los Vegas A's. It rolls off the tongue better.
Las Vegas Las Vegas
MoneyBall is still one of my favorite movies! I don't blame the A's for getting out of that Sh*t Hole.
The fans stopped those stealing the chairs and put them back
