- Today we show you how to install a timing belt on a 2.4 Chrysler Engine. This engine is out of a 2001 Chrysler PT cruiser and is getting swapped into a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T.

How bad would it be if u didn't realize someone put 2.0 cams in your 2.4 and u turned it on 3 times after timing to 2.4 marks? I thought they just used 2.0 sprokets and read theyre enterchangable. Started it idles rough but sound good if I gas it. I couldn't see the 2.0 marks before I took them off and scrubbed there was soo much gunk in there. Long story. So I just thought they're a tooth off. Now I don't know if it was flipped over or not. 🤦 mom trying to do this for my teenage daughter. I know enough to f some shit up apparently.
Make sure both holes in the cams are up. If one gear is flipped 180 off when installing them there 2.0 cams.
According to Alldata the exhaust cam, the one in the back, is supposed be a half tooth below the front one. Yours looked to be the opposite, I’m wondering if that was accidental or intentional?
You should’ve covered finding TDC for the #1 piston, just showing you spin the crank to line up the mark could cause someone to need to redo all that work.
