- Well, it’s the final episode of this series, the final few parts get added to the box and a light touch of weathering is applied to the model.
Thank you for all your comments and support throughout this series. I will be back for a third series and if you want to suggest a build for that do so in the comments below or via my email in this description.

I’m very much inspired by your artistry & craftsmanship that I’ve started to dig back into my HO layout after too many years away from it.
Thanks so very much, again.
Kevin
Hi Kevin thank you for those kind words, it really is appreciated. Paul
Excellent results and the beauty of scratch building is that you get a unique building on your layout...…………….Cheers Kev
100% Kev, it’s one of the key reasons I like to scratch build. Paul
The foil looks much better. And the signal box is terrific.
It’s a great material to use for flashing. Thanks for the kind comments on the box. Paul
Thoroughly enjoyed this series, what you create was absolutely stunning and a real inspiration. Also a big thank you for sharing the original plans.
Thank you for the kind comment and for taking time to view the series. The plans are there to allow others to build it should they wish. I hope you give it a go now. 😉 Paul
Hi Paul
I have watched every episode - the box is brilliant and so are all your other builds. Just keep up the good work.John
Hi John, thank you so much for the kind words and your dedication to watching the entire series. It’s really appreciated. Paul
Very nice work. A great watch my friend
Thank you so much Ewood. Paul
Another cracking scratch build series. Enjoyed catching up on it.
Thank you for watching. Paul
Well Paul, never mind your Monet 🎨 the corrugated sheeting is a pure work of art 🖼 As for your next build 🤔 anything that requires a lot of painting 😉 Master Craftsman 🧑🏻🎨 Best wishes from County Wicklow ☘️
Thank you so much Paul, as always. 🤗 Paul
Thank you Paul for such a wonderful piece of modelling. Regards fred
Thank you so much Fred as always for your kind words. Paul
Incredible detail on the stairway! 💯👍
Thanks so much Kevin. Paul
Hi Paul, this has been a great journey. i am glad you have found a better material for the ridge tiles. which has worked out just brilliantly. what ever do next will superb ...take care Tony
The foil was a revelation to be sure. There’s been a few comments for a station building next so maybe I’ll be hot on the heels of our exemplary model. 😉 Paul
That will be good we can compare notes....Tony
so realistic. Also I like the old signal boxes. Better than the modern rubbish now.
Thank you VBK. There’s certainly character to the old boxes although some of the more modern ones can have a certain charm about them too. Paul
¡Hola buenas tardes Paul! A year into my rekindled railway modelling has only improved though inspiration gained from video content, on UA-cam, such as yours. Techniques, in all aspects of scratch building, can only be honed by practice and, more practice. Even if only one item of detail is learnt, after watching each episode, I am so thankful to you and other modellers for providing the guidance. Sharing is so important and, I am certain other novice scratch-builders take heart from seeing a project develop episode by episode. As to your request for a future build project - a station building would be my submission. Take care and stay safe. Un saludo. Gary
Thank you Gary, we are all learning from each other and those that don’t acknowledge that are only fooling themselves. It’s a great hobby for sharing our methods and learning new ones from others. The station building is looking like the runaway leader at the minute. Take care. Paul
Great build Paul. Its a station building for me with lighting of course. :)
Thank you Gordon, the station build is a popular choice. Lights! That reminds me, I still need to install them in the box. 😆 Paul
Another brilliant build, Paul. It looks fantastic and right at home in its place. As far as what to build next my personal view is it all starts with a station. Of course, you may be building section by section and neither station is in a section you're ready to tackle yet. Anyhow, one more tip of the cap! Cheers!
Thank you Anthony and you make a fair point with regards the station. Everything emanates from a station on most model railways. It’s certainly a fair argument of what I should do next. Take care my friend. Paul
Fantastic job Paul! Could I suggest you put a diagonal brace from the bottom underside corner of the top platform to the wall of the signal box (by the lower door), as it looks a bit unsupported. ...Cheers Les.
Thanks Les and you’re right, it does need some additional support. I ran out of material but more is on order. Paul
Another great video Paul with some great results.
Regards
Geoff
Thank you so much Geoff. Paul
I enjoyed watching these Paul and learned a lot from you cheers Paul at Sandling Junction
Glad you liked them, I certainly enjoyed the build process. Paul
Absolutely top draw modelling, Paul. Cracking job 😊👍🏻
Cheers David, nice to hear from you bud. Paul
@@GalgormHall I'm still alive! Just a few weeks away from Baby Strath arriving, so I've had next to no railway time for a while now, as Mrs Strath has been busy with baby prep.
Strathpeffer Junction best of luck with it. It’s the best and the worst times all rolled in to one but the good far outweighs the bad. Paul
Absolutely amazing build Paul, looking forward to whatever is next mate...take care and stay well, cheers, Chris
Thank you Chris, it turned out pretty well in the end. Not sure what’s next but plenty of projects to keep me busy for the time being. Paul
Paul, maybe something that would look good on Wheezy junction?? N gauge of course...😜👌.. Take care mate
As my layout is mainly industrial/quayside I'm building warehouses and factories. But, to be honest, I have enjoyed every scratchbuild you have done and, even if I'm not building or needing something similar, there are always elements of your build or techniques that are of interest - such as the hipped roof or stairs on the signal box,or even switching me onto Roket glue! ;-). Carry on the good work - there's always something of interest. Cheers
Just ordered a 99p sample of foil tape! Yet another top Galgorm Hall recommendation. Cheers Paul
Thank you Davie, it makes it all worthwhile when I receive comments like that, it’s all very humbling. As to that foil tape it’s well worth the few pence to have the material in your toolbox. Paul
Nice final touches. Next scratch build, got to be a station building.. I'll send you a picture of st David's, it's an easy build 😆
Anyway, what ever it'll be, it will be another cracking job.
Thank you Tim, I do love that signal box, I only wish you were modelling in the period that it was still standing. Would I build another? Hopefully not. 😆 Paul
Great stuff as always Paul. I’ve been using the duct tape since seeing you use it months ago, so I’ll be following your lead again and switching to the the foil now. The corrugated iron has come out a treat.
Hey Lewis, this fool product is a million times better, I can’t believe the difference it makes. Paul.
Hi Lewis, I did suggest to Paul about using copper foil Slug Barrier tape for flashing. You can get it from most Garden/DIY shops. ...Cheers. Les.
Looking forward to the new vids
Me too. 😆 Paul
It turned out awesome.
Thank you Ron, I’m really please with it. Paul
Fantastic work as usual. What a detailed model. The stairs I know are awful to make. Given me some inspiration! Nit picking I know, but there should be some flashing along the top of the shed roof where it meets the brick! 😀
Thanks Ray and not nit picking, I really should have added some flashing on the shed. Paul
@@GalgormHall Hi Paul. Quick question - What do you use to clean the brush used for applying liquid plastic cement?
Hi Ray, you don’t clean it. The brush goes hard but when next using it once dipped in the glue it softens again ready for further application. Paul
@@GalgormHall Ah I see! many thanks! 👍👍
Just subbed, looking for watching more of your builds.
Thank you so much for the sub. Paul
Having some this foil for its intended reason and still having some left over I am glad you came across this
It’s all Malcolms doing Nigel, I still wouldn’t have been aware of it but for that comment. Paul
Superb
Thank you Mark. Paul
Brilliant Paul. Thank you, I have learnt so much. Personally I would like to see you build a small branch line station please. BTW a signal box needs a signalman.
Thank you Tony, another vote for the station. You’re right too on the signalman. I have a figure in a box that needs painted and then it’ll be populated. 😉 Paul
.....standing on the halfway landing with a cuppa !
and signals.
Wow, wasn't expecting a shout out ! - Glad you found my suggestion of using the ali foil as flashing useful. Loved watching this build and feel humble that in a very very small way I've contributed to it :) - Looking forward to the next project, which no doubt will be as spectacular as this one, and the buildings before it.
Credit where credit is due Malcolm. It’s an amazing product and I’ve already converted a number of others to it including Alex Hill and Lewis at Mouldy Raspberry. Paul
Outstanding suggestion Malcolm, I’ve used the alum foil in the past for projects around the house and kicked myself for not considering it for model building activities! Kudos to you sir!
I really have enjoyed watching this scratch build. I’ve learnt so much, your delivery is spot on, informative but relaxed. Keep up the great work, cheers.
Thank you Adam for the very kind comments, it means a lot. Paul
Brilliant results Paul, as ever. Like to see a station build if anything. Jon
Cheers Jon, it’s a preferred choice of my own too. Paul
Wow! What a fantastic result. Really love the staircase, that was worth all the effort. The flashing tip is excellent.
What would I like to see you build next?...........My carriage shed!😁
Thank you Mal, send me some pics of your shed and I’ll give it consideration. Paul
Fantastic finish Paul, I have thoroughly enjoyed building this along with you and we both now have a magnificent unique scratchbuilt signalbox we can be proud of! My vote for the next build would be either a 2 lane shed or a water tower. Cheers Steve
Thank you Steve, I’m glad you enjoyed the journey and look forward to seeing your own finished results. Your two options are duly noted. 😉 Paul
Thanks so much for this scratch build series. I've really enjoyed it and I'm now trying to learn some very basic modelling techniques myself. Totally inspiring. Looking forward to the next series. Thanks for sharing it all with is.
Thank you so much, I’m so pleased you’ve been able to take some tips from it. Paul
That really is a fantastic result. Real artistry in the painting and weathering of the building and the attention to detail. You must be very pleased with the outcome. Stephen
I’m delighted with it Stephen. I’ll be honest, I was loosing interest in the build as it drew to a close but it’s great to get it over the line. I’ll still add a few more touches of subtle weathering at some point but for now I’ll let it stay as is. Paul
Hi paul great video and good job well dun mate I have put in the dapol working semaphore signals at my model of stranraer harhour station I still have to connect the wires to the control panel but i have tested the two starter signales at the platform ends and they are working will . i am still working on the nir buffet and the BR RSS buffet coaches I hope to have photos for you by the end of next week all being will i have also started some work on that 80 class demu driving trailer but is early day at the minute mate stay safe and well mate Clive
Thank you Clive, I look forward to seeing those photos. Paul
Thank you for posting this build, there's a lot of work in it and the result is fantastic.
Excellent work as usual look forward to see it in place 👍
Thank you Malcolm. I reckon it’s about 15 hours in total to reach this stage. Paul
Thank you Mark. Paul
Absolutely amazing Paul....
The detail is the nuts
Nice Guinness shirt btw 😉🍺
Julian
Haha thanks Julian. Would you believe the Guinness shirt is about 25 years old. I bought it at St James Park all that time ago. 😆 Paul
Beautiful work. That must look spectacular on the layout. I can't wait to see what is next. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Larry. If I have one criticism it’s the location. Hidden behind a roof truss it’s difficult to see. 😞 I wonder if I could remove it. 😆 Paul
That was amazing job you had dun there to that build it was great to see it 👍👍
Thank you Mick. Paul
A true master class, more please!
Thank you, very kind of you to say so. Paul
Fantastic as always Paul, really setting the bar high!
Thank you so much Richard. Paul
Hi Paul, thank you for this build. I have applied some of your techniques in this build to a project I'm working on. Still more to do on it before I would share it but I'm happy with how it's coming along. Don't forget to put a couple of posts in to support the top deck of the stairs. Brilliant job though. Keep safe, David.
Thank you David, I’ll look forward to seeing the project as and when you are ready. Take care. Paul
Exceptional work, it is looking really good... Heck I use roles of that sort of tape in my workshop (copper in my case), use it for making the copper plates for the sides of sailing ships etc, anyway really good idea using it for the roof.
Thank you Coffee, as I mention in the video, I hadn’t heard of it before but it really is a great product. Paul
@@GalgormHall really good thinking using it for that, I have only ever used the stuff for making copper plates and never thought to use it the way you have... going to use that idea as I build stuff for my layout :-)
Looking good like you work you do on the layout
Thank you so much. Paul
Great job👌
Thank you Colin. Paul
Totally stunning Paul. I have loved watching the entire series as this has just got me inspired which you know has been my own labour.
The foil tape is excellent isnt it, I'm glad you got introduced to it and thanks for letting me know as well.
The weathering you have applied is second to none mate, that lean 2 is incredible, job done.
I'd like to throw my vote behind scratch building the branch station, it seems an area you have spent a bit of time on and I think finishing it further with a station building would be where its at for the next build.
All the best
Alex
Thank you so much Alex, we are all here to share our methods and tools of the trade. Your own build looks amazing and I look forward to seeing the video on it. Paul
@@GalgormHall Thanks Paul, only with your inspiration have I had the desire to actually try.
This week will be scratch build on Oakford lane
Hi, do you do commissions? I'm in awe of your craftsmanship!
Thank you Dena. I do take on commissions so if you want to discuss further you can contact me via email or my Facebook page, both of which are detailed in the description of my videos. Paul
Great finale Paul 👍👌. Will the main station be a kit or kit based, or full scratch build ?
Thanks Gary. I have a station building in mind so it will be a full scratch build. Paul
Lovely modelling Paul.
Do you have a link for that foil tape ?
Tony.
Thank you Tony, I should have added a link in the description but forgot. Here’s the seller I got mine from.

Thanks Paul.
Looking forward to your next project.
Tony.
Would like to see the station being built
It’s certainly a preferred choice of mine to Mick. Thanks for commenting and suggesting. Paul
ADD SUM MOSS ONTO THE ROOF
Hi sun wills kits to make up CK16 country station with platforms CK14 single road engine shed CK 21 stone built semi detached cottages CK21 two road engine shed Ck17 stone country station kit that will keep you busy for sum time I have made all of them in the past and all of them I have sold on now they make wonderful buildings hope that helps you I am into 0 gauge now
Thanks Anthony. This wasn’t my first Wills build, I’ve already done the country station and semi detached houses and I’ve more planned. Thanks for the info though. Paul
yes I know that tray CK10 farm cottage kit if you go the the Ratio factory at Buckfastleigh it's great
Sorry but that is not what lead flashing does on a roof. There would not be lead down the ridge and hips like that. Look at real roofs and you will see that there are ridge tiles and hip tiles with no lead showing. Lead is only used where for example a wall or a roof abuts against a vertical surface such as another wall. Picky maybe but when you are going into this amount of detail it is best to get it right.
Thank you for the feedback David, much appreciated. Paul
