Problem is that a majority of those graduating were not involved in the protests. They were also denied their high school graduation ceremonies . Once again, the whole is being punished for the actions of only a part.

The students should have thought about the chance of losing their commencements events…before they protested.
They did. And they sacrificed that for their beliefs.
In reality, the number of students who protested is only a small fraction of the total number of students on campus, including seniors. Most of the graduation seniors had nothing to do with the protests but are now getting punished for it anyway.

I hope this decision to cancel commencement doesn’t become widely adopted by other universities; most of these students were freshmen during COVID and had to stay at home their freshman year - and now their recognition at graduation has been cancelled.

As per usual. The ones most hurt by this are the ones that had the least say in how things turn out. I feel for the seniors, but this is what the current College Administration of not just Colombia but many colleges, has brought forth. Instead of standing on principles, they tiptoe around emotions and lies.
So if those not involved in the “protests” are the majority, why didn’t they pressure the university to deal harshly with these people? Despite the administration’s woke leanings, if 75% of the student body demanded action, it would have shut this down. Many of these students, while not actively engaged in the mayhem, are supportive of the “protests,” so now they’re bearing the brunt of their inaction.
