ABOUT
First composed as a commission from Noe Music, Brave shares the sonic journey of motherhood-from humble beginnings of a child learning from their mother, to the transformation of child into parental life. A simple, piano-focused waltz, with Jackie's voice carrying the message bravery throughout every line.
This song features internationally-acclaimed violist and pleasure activist Meena Bhasin. Meena's powerhouse career includes touring with Jethro Tull, performing at the Obama White House, New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, and spotlighting criminal justice reform as founder of Decoda (the Carnegie Hall affiliate ensemble).
The accompanying music video, directed by Alex Lopez, highlights the simplicity within the story, capturing minimal lighting, soft colors, and dreamy transitions.
This single was recorded live at 25th Street Recording Studio in Oakland. Special thanks to audio engineer and vocal mixer Nate Hendrix, and mixing and mastering by Jeff Kolhede.
