DIY Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary $750 Ears | Disney vs DIY

- Disney World is currently celebrating their 50th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than with a $750 pair of Minnie Mouse ears made of cheap sequins and plastic! I like to image that the ears were originally priced at $75, but then some greedy Disney exec said, "Well, what if we added an extra zero to that price..." Save yourself the hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a cheap product with my easy DIY of these ears! They end up looking just as good and are infinitely cheaper. The fact that these ears have a solid 1 out of 5 stars on ShopDisney fills me with joy.
Supplies needed:
- 1" plastic headband
- Black velour fabric
- Black braid trim
- Gold sequin fabric (www.amazon.com...)
- Gold rhinestones (www.joann.com/...) (www.joann.com/...)
- E6000 glue
- 1/4" (or 6 mm) thick foam (www.joann.com/...)
- Fiberfill

Yours would be worth it…handmade in USA and not some sweatshop in China. Really disappointed with Disney with this.
For $750 Walt better comes out of his freezer to put those ears on me personally when I want to wear them! But, I do always love your DIY’s. Maybe in the new year I’ll finally make my own pair.

I really appreciate your honesty on Disney product’s quality especially compared to their price, you seem like a genuine person and I like that because I feel like some people are too hyped up for Disney to realize these are overpriced for no reason

Thank you for the laugh! Idk if am laughing at the foolishness of buying such ridiculously over priced ears or at the fact that people let Disney know that they are tripping. For $750 they should at least be made with Swarovski Crystals or something. Either way, I’m laughing! So glad to see you post another DIY video. Following your tutorials, I’ve made a ton of ears for my friends and myself for our DW trips since we’re pass holders and regularly visit. Please keep posting more!!!
It's always surprising how the really expensive ears are never really something very creative or special as a design...you do a wonderful job breaking this down and remaking them. Also, your original designs are always much cuter and better looking than most of Disney's ears.
Thats insane! Like if the ears had actual gold thread and swarovski crystals sure or if it came with tickets or reservations for a fancy restaurant and/or spa maybe. But what they're doing is insane and I wonder how long they can maintain a pay more get less business model

Would you say sewing ears on is better than hot glue? I always see people doing hot glue and yours is the first I’ve seen with the sewing method .

I thought the Heidi Klum designer ears were ridiculously over priced. Those may have had song real crystals, but still not worth $600. The 50th WDW ones are way over priced. I love all your diy ears and also love the fact that you sew the ears, use foam not cardboard and sew the ears to the headband.
How do you know where to leave a gap for the groove of the headband?

Also, have a quick question regarding your template. I have used your template for making my own ears but for some reason, mine done end up as circular as your ears in the video, they end up being flat. Is it maybe because the foam template can cause that? Or is it the opening that may be too big? Just looking for advice. I love your videos and have been making ears as I was inspired by your videos but idk why I can be possibly doing wrong. 😭

How do you get your ears so round 🤔 I sew mine and they always look a bit flat in a spot or two. Also do you have templates for sale?

Hello, can i ask where you buy the headband?
No shade on anyone for liking these ears, buying the legit ears, making their own, or whatever - but imo, they are just ugly... I don't understand the appeal, the jewels just look lumpy to me.
Definitely wouldn’t have come up with this design myself, lol!
