KJM has a been a favourite composer, but the sensitive and sympathetic feeling with which you play Propitious, is fast changing my mind. Wonderful, Gert, as ever.
All Fame is Excluded, also translated as Now All Boasting is Excluded. Powerful music to carry God's reminder to us in 1Corinthians 1:31---"Therefore, as it is written: 'Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.' "
Impeccable timing, Gert! Sitting in my card in the workplace car park listening to one of your CDs when I saw this. I so love hearing you play the organ and this is such a good example of your skill and sensitivity.
Thank you, Gert, for this beautiful piece by J. Propitius. I love his work. The emotion and interpretation you brought out in it was so soul-stirring. It couldn't have been played with more precision or confidence than you did. What a gift. Merry Christmas and God bless you, your family and your team. ♥
Another brilliant and powerful performance. There are so many good organists in the world, and yet none of them compare to Gert. Gert has the unique sensitivity and power that comes from the heart. He is the conductor and pushes the right keys, but his heart exudes the compassion and love in devoting himself to his heavenly father through his music. Like you, I marvel at the sensitivity he puts into each musical selection. The lyrics mean so much to him. And it shows in the performance.
Wow, Gert - this knocks the Vidor Toccata into a cocked hat! A stunning performance, with total mastery of this wonderful instrument. Never heard it before, great find. Stay very safe and enjoy a wonderful Christmas, as your star ascends, with Maroleine and the little ones.
Another outstanding recording. Your presentations of pieces by John Propitius never fail to impress. Thank you as always for your between-concert posts.
Love this piece … even though it’s a very somber piece it leaves your imagination in overdrive … Exceptionally played Gert …as always you’ve earned my upmost respect ✊🏻 👏🏻♥️
Yes I agree.. It's very solemn... and oddly joyful too. It's like a cry for repentance and forgiveness (some of my Calvinist upbringing somewhere in there..)
As you know, Gert is just as much about the lyrics as about the music. His choice of music is never 'by accident', it's always a well-considered choice. The Google translation of the first 2 verses of this song are: 1. All fame is excluded undeserved bliss did I enjoy my God, I boast only in free favor! Yes, before I was born Glory to God's hand who created all things, to create something out of nothingness, his love has chosen me: God is love, o angelic voice, the tongue of man glorifies Him! 2. God so loved the world that he is his beloved Son for the fallen world given over to slander and contempt. Yes, when we were sinners, the Father gave us grace, suffered the Son on Calvary, died for us who were sinners: God is love, o angelic voice, the tongue of man glorifies Him!
@@rypkepaulusma Thanks for sharing this. You are so correct on his choice of music. He has picked up the mantle from Zwart/Feike and is carrying it nobly well.
First heard him play this in Part 2 of his 2019 concert in Hanley U.K. It's also on several other videos besides this one. I often "book end" listening to this piece and his Fantasie on Psalm 42 by Propitius. From Chicago, U.S.A.
Thanks again, Gert, for such a Merrily meditative piece to keep our hearts and minds stayed on Christ Jesus, for He is the reason for the season, now and forevermore!! Have a wonderful Christmas with Marjolein, Thomas and Ruben!! 🎄🙏✝️🛐
Hi Gert, beautifully performed, love the voicings that you used. Propitius's music is so powerful and a blessing. Thank you for playing it, So sad that he no longer is performing.
Bravo Gert! I’m glad you had your seat belt on for this piece 😀😀 Beautifully played and a firm favourite of mine. Thank you for sharing. Happy Christmas to you and your family. God bless.
Hello Gert, that was another great concert. Above all, I like to listen to your improvisations. I would have a wish for your Christmas livestream: "Make the gates wide" (Machet die Tore weit)by Andreas Hammerschmidt (1612-1675). That would be great. This piece is currently also on the music stand of my home organ. Best regards from Saxony and keep up the good work...

De beste orgelspeeler, de ik van de internet kenn. jgo
Stunning piece! These Dutch organ composers are so underrated worldwide! The harmony in the slow part here also sounds like ‘La Follia’!
Gert and a Batz Orgel just can’t be beat. They bring out the very best in each other. I takes hard work and dedication but prayers Are fulfilled.
WOW! Words cannot express how I feel, right not. God, is Great. Thank you for sharing this wonderful Sound. RB.

Uitvoering in de Maartenskerk Zaltbommel was ook fabuleus. Moest Gert nog iets harder werken....😇
