    These work. Ours, installed today, is helping to preserve a graceful antebellum estate with a full basement limestone foundation, walls a foot and a half thick, without any significant insulation to speak of. Just came back from resetting a breaker and felt the change, but it took me a while to recognize it. The musty smell and the heavier "air" was gone, it was also cooler even though today was about seven degrees warmer.

    Can i ask some install advice please. Aprilaire e100 dehumidifier being ducted to return plenum. Plenum is 12 x 20"
    Am I ok to use side takeoffs for the ducting? Easier for access here.
    Can they be 45 degree( essentially thats actually a top takeoff but being installed as a sidetakeoff) or do they need to be straight collar takeoff?

    I have the Model 76 control for my Aprilaire dehumidifier and I see that it sometimes is not running (dehumidifying) when the humidity is higher than the setting. Why is this? For example, currently it shows 70% humidity in my crawlspace, but it is not running even though I have it set for 55%.

    Hello Aprilaire Crew. Just purchased / installed the new E100. It's going to be a standalone installation in a wide open 800sq ft basement.
    My question is: Do the duct collars for each end allow the unit to work more effectively?
    As of now, I don't have them attached because I am not ducting it.
    Do you recommend attaching these?

    • @aprilaireco
      @aprilaireco  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for contacting Aprilaire! Aprilaire units can be installed freestanding or connected to the ductwork in a whole-home configuration. It is not necessary to attach the collars if the unit is to be left unducted. Connecting to the HVAC system increases the volume of air that can be dehumidified. However, because of the stack effect, it is also best practice to install a dehumidifier freestanding in a basement or crawl space application. If you have any additional questions, we'd be happy to assist.

    • @unixdoes
      @unixdoes 2 роки тому +1

      i attached the collars and a few feet of duct on each side for a freestanding install since my manual mentioned quieter operation that way. it also helps ensure you are not recirculating dry air through the dehu (point inlet and outlet ducts toward different corners of the space).

    Should I use a condensate pump if I install this in my crawlspace? I plan to gravity drain only by suspending the 1830 from floor joists under house using Aprilaire hanging kit and connect PVC pipe from dehumidifier inserted into an existing drain pipe which exits outside of foundation wall.

      I got a 1850 they will do 5000 square feet. If your house is not properly closed up with 6 mill plastic and vents and cracks sealed it probably will have to work harder to reach 40%. The reason why is the 1850 will be pulling outside air into the crawlspace and moisture from the dirt floor.

    My A/C technician will be installing two Aprilalire units that we purchased and will be attached to the HVAC system that we have in the basement, a 30K BTU Smasung. We bought Aprilaire E100 Dehumidifier and Aprilaire 5000 air purifier. My question is what is the correct sequence of these units when placed after the return air. When return air from the house goes back to the basement which divice should be first? Dehumidifier or AIr purifier? And finally the clean dired air will go to the main compressor to be distributed in the house? Thanks

      Thank you for contacting Aprilaire! We would want the installer to install the 5000 electronic air cleaner to be the closest unit to the furnace on the return air duct and the E100 to be upstream on the return air duct with a return to return installation. We want filtering the air to be the last thing done before entering the furnace. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us by calling 1-800-334-6011. • @aprilaireco

      Thank you for contacting AprilAire! How the unit will operate will depend on if it is ducted into the HVAC system. If it is ducted into the HVAC system, it should be wired such that the dehumidifier turns on the HVAC blower. In this instance, it would not operate independently of the HVAC system. Dry fit everything before gluing: the threaded part of this has to mate up relatively square - most pvc unions will have an o-ring. What happened? It makes sense that the warranty is good only if installed properly. However, if the unit ran perfectly for 11 months before failing, how does the manufacturer place fault on the installation? If they are in the practice of not honoring the warranty for a DIY installation, perhaps they should not offer it through retail sellers.

    Just took delivery of my E100 (1850)... FedEx delivered partially unboxed, and unit was upside down, FedEx drivers are not to keen on shipping package warnings... All of those large arrows and letters are so cunfusing! And it was packaged pretty good, none of the E100 casing or other parts were damaged, which honestly surprised me, as I was expecting at least one side of the E100 cabinet to be crushed inwards, got lucky there. All corners were intact too, another surprise as FedEx really manhandled this thing, which is honestly uncalled for. I can say that, I have worked with UPS, SAIA, ABF and FedEx running those double trailers out of their shipping hubs, FedEx is the worst.
    On the Aprilaire end of things... The TWO zip ties on the shipping bracket were never put together, just hanging loosely, I am honestly surprised it turned on the way it was shipped and all... No signs of leakage from the compressor, and it is running, no abnormal noise to speak of. The unit is much quieter than that stand alone ACE Hardware unit which is right next to it. It should be even quieter once I see that everything is working properly and duct it into my HVAC system. Fingers crossed, I do not want to send this unit back for a replacement.
    I bought this unit, on sale, from the Crawl Space Ninjas. They have been great to work with, said no issue shipping a replacement out if need be. And they beat everyone else's pricing out there, they are also quick to answer the phone down in Knoxville. I would do business with them again without hesitation.
    Alright! Pray everything is working with this unit! So far so good!
