With a lot of New York residents moving to Miami I decided to travel down to Miami for a few weeks and compare what life is like living in Miami compared to New York City. My current Apartment in NYC is $2,500 and an amazing deal but I wanted to see what I could get for that same amount in Miami. In addition to looking at apartments I also consider salary, transportation, food and taxes.

Do you know? You are my English teacher. I'm a Korean + Chinese. I'm learning English with your videos. I love all your videos.
haha I do the same. I was born in Russia but move to the US almost 3 years ago
Hahaha me too. Greetings from Poland 🤣😃
Me too. I am from India.
Me too I’m from Spain living in the states
Your videos Rocks
@@arikristenko how did you acquire a visa without even knowing English?
I would like to see a comparison of what are arguably the two most expensive cities to live in the US; NYC vs San Francisco.
i live in SF and i hate it here.. would love to live literally anywhere else
2 videos in one weeek! YAY! You know what I think would be super fun? If you compared NYC to a Canadian city like Toronto or Vancouver (both of them are almost just as expensive as NYC, at least according to the Canadian standards haha)
I’m down to watch that!
Please do a NY vs LA comparison! BTW, what lens do you use to vlog with on your a7c?

I feel like in NYC it's worth it. NYC has so so so much opportunities, activities, history, and it actually has all seasons. Yes, it's cool to get away from the winter sometimes but, you get tired of it. Demand is high right now in Florida. People are buying houses and renting apartments so prices are going up cause of people moving here and it's really annoying. People here trying to get houses and apartments but, demand is so high right now, that it's not a good time to. It's ridiculous!!! Pluse with gas prices going up, in Miami, you have to drive everywhere where in NYC, soooo many ways to get around. I don't care, NYC worth it. I been here for 9 years this August will be 10 and the only thing I love about Florida is the beautiful beaches, the houses depending on the area cause some parts for example Fort Lauderdale houses are outdated. I also love the quiet area's, and the nice people.
Totally agree. Born and raised in miami and I’m moving to New York in June and I can’t wait to get rid of my car. Between car payments, maintenance, insurance and gas, owning a car in miami can easily be 600-700 a month. And it just goes up from there. Take into consideration that I’m moving with someone else and that’s two cars we don’t have to worry about. That alone can get you to a miami equivalent apartment so prices may balance out. But miami has had the highest ratio increase of living costs to wages since the pandemic meaning everything is going up except wages.
Can’t wait to move to New York myself. Not looking forward to the taxes though
NYC is NOT worth the PRESENT cost OF rent. The CRIME is way UP. The COST of GOODS and SERVICES is are HIGHER. Not to MENTION the TYRANICAL COVID-19 unconstitutional RULES...Also, even THOUGH the JOB opportunities are BETTER in NYC, it's NOT to the DEGREE that PEOPLE believe...#GiveMeJESUS
@@mintruth preach. Nyc way too expensive for what you get
@@mintruth you okay?
you forgot to mention high insurance prices.
Born and raised Floridan here!
Loved watching this video!
Honestly, winter in Florida is amazing. I love being able to go to the beach and sit outside and feel a cool breeze while still not freezing to death. But, with a lot of people do not realize is that summer here is a completely different story. We also get hit with incredible heat where you can literally take a shower and step outside and feel like you need to take instantly take another shower. We do get hit with hurricanes and bad weather about four months out of the year and honestly, you never know what you’re going to get from may - october and that alone is something I have personally taken into account.
Also, try not to burn yourself with your seat belt while your car takes 20 minutes to cool down (which is basically half your trip.)
The cost of living has completely shot up considering everyone moving down and the market is TOUGH for those who actually live here and get paid Floridan wages at the moment. Also, gas is high so considering living close to where you may go out and live.
Love Florida and this will always be home but weather, and car use is definitely something to account for if you move down! 😅
I moved here from California and love is so far but the summer almost killed me haha. The weather was crazy even after Los Angeles! I love the tropical weather espessially when it's raining here but still want to go back to LA because of my friends, mountains and the film industry. Do you think it's possible to live a half of the year in Miami November to May and other month in Califronia while it's huricane season in FL?
@@arikristenko Hey there! For sure! A lot of snowbirds actually do that! They’ll come down from October - March or April and then head up north again. I think it really depends on you and if you don’t mind the going back and forth! I would definitely say go for it ! I would love to visit LA though! (PS: I wish we had mountains ) 😂
Florida's rent now is almost just as bad as NYC
Come to Australia in Summer. I feel like Miami and Aus are somewhat comparable in temperature during summers.
Is it a high UV there though? Brutal here.
Can you do both a NYC vs Chicago comparison and a NYC vs Boston comparison? I wanna see something.
"fried chicken is my favorite thing probably because it's $8" hahahah I'm with you Brett
Miami is magical but becoming expensive as the New Yorkers found this paradise . With regards to where the Money comes from, there is a lot of US wealth as well as the South American Money (legal or illegal). At one point in Miami, for every Dollar went of the Banks two Dollars were going in. You know the answer.
Fellow New Yorker here ,I just moved to MIAMI about 6 months ago , I pay now 2,300 a month for a 3 bedroom two bath house with a pool and backyard , when in New York I was living in a shoe box , plus roaches and mice, MIAMI is alot cleaner ! I have to say though salary is less but there are job opportunities here. I use to work in Financial district in NYC and the salary isn’t that much off . Having work experience in New York definitely gave me an edge , I applied for three jobs and I got offers from all three in MIAMI , while in New York you need to be apply for 25 to get three job offers . You need a car in Miami , Thankfully I had a car in NY so i was able to bring it down to MIA. Honestly I have to say though that there’s is alot more talented , hard working , and just overall intelligent people in New York . I mean the most talented and smartest people from around the world go to NYC for education and work . I think if your looking for a less busier life than the city , more laid back , tired of the snow and cold , plus beautiful weather beaches , and have a car then make the move to MIAMI ! Also there are hurricanes so that’s another thing you have to think about .
by the time you renew that apartment will be $4000 plus. Keep an eye on insane increases in housing.
Don't vote blue when you leave shithole new York come to red state refugees
Coming from nyc almost everything is cheaper in comparison either way. Also without the state and city tax you’ll save. Nyc is trash my friend.
While you New Yorkers and other people keep moving here you people are going to drive up the price. Which is happening now. Renting a 1 bedroom apartment is 2000 dollars or more now in many places here in Miami. It is so much harder to find housing around here. That is what happens when everyone starts coming over. There are even lesser jobs too. Stay over there. And stop making it any harder for you or other people here.
I live in midtown Miami and I don’t need a car whatsoever! Everything is at my fingertips!
You might make double the salary but you lose it all in taxes and eating out
Miami is so tempting. Great video Brett!!
Loved the comparison. From what I heard about Miami, people who's balling over there with their Lambo's and big houses work for a northerner company making northerner salary/investments and just live in Florida. Jobs that pay a lot is hard to come by there. Personally I know a lot of folks that move to Miami, are intrigue about the cost of living but end up moving back north. Miami I do love, but I just hate the 10 minute downpours they have there lol. I like to see you do a video comparing NYC to San Diego
Rent went up 35%-60% increase in 2021 and another doble digit increase is expected in 2022. 2/2 apt that were $2800 are now $4000, and still going up. So we are becoming the next NY but without the jobs.
Shout out to all the San Francisco / New York / California tech and remote workers who are helping make Florida and Miami more and more unaffordable and simultaneously turning it into a 💩 of a city like the one you just evaded.
Single-handedly making housing unaffordable and driving rent through the roof.
I think Miami people or Florida people in general talk once a day about how we're tired of New Yorkers moving and causing an increase in prices. Also, I feel Miami Beach and Manhattan always are used when describing Miami or New York. It's obvious, but life isn't always as pretty in both places.
I learned a long time ago in NY area that folks up here who complain about summers in Miami are not frequent summer subway/commuting folks IN NYC.
Please do a NYC to Singapore comparison! It will be interesting!
I really love nyc , but the fucking problem that i want to know is why dafuq is there is no fucking laundry machine in units , its so hard to find an apartment with a laundry machine
Because the old buildings pipes does not support the washing machine water pressure in and out
@@samvid74 damnn , so if i have to find an apartment with an in unit laundry , i have to find a relatively new building which will cost hell alot of money ?
Without a doubt your friend got a great deal for his rent but as a born and raised Floridian i one of those strongly affected by the inflation and will be moving out myself so a better quality of life, pay, and career. I hope to come back and visit but for now that realistically might be hard for others here as well great video too loved you showing our Latin based community
Which city did you chose? Florida is so expensive and salaries are low. Miami is for rich. Most rich flex how they don't need to pay state income tax and that's it while others can't afford renting a room in Miami
Seattle, San Francisco, and Boston.
Brett! Thanks for showcasing my beautiful city. As a life long miamian, I can tell you a couple of things: cuban breakfasts at that price are the best, the scenic places you showed are great to visit all year round, and sir pizza IS NOT the best pizza in Miami 🤣
Definitely sir pizza not the best pizza . On South Beach Master's Pizza is pretty good. Bella Napoli was also good but they closed when covid hit.
Another great pizza spot would be EAST SIDE PIZZA
cuban food is rlly delicious (especially pan con bistec) but avoid cuban pizza.
*The crypto market has been favourable in the past weeks, I keep missing out on this opportunity, I'm most certainly very impatient how can I ever make a profit in the crypto market.*
I’ve been trading crypto with Mr Eric Frank for over a year now and I've made about a whooping profit of $86,000 in crypto its not much but I'm ok with the progress since i now make a whole lot from the comfort of my bed.
I think trading is easier with proper guidance, especially from a proffessional it really helps reduce the chances of running into losses. All thanks to Mr Eric Frank He changed my life, I was able to pay off my mortgage
Take it from one who has it and buy a house in Missouri and dream Wrangler with forex trade profits. I started with Mr Eric Frank of financial education and he has been my handler and guider for the past years
Expert Eric Frank has been managing my trade for months and I keep making profits every week , made $30,000 last week
I thought we might loose quality in search of quantity but you didn't disappoint us Brett, great video 👍👍
Wow!!! The diff is clear! I love the views from the Miami apartment.😻😻😻
Can’t beat NYC in food and things to do.
@Aaron9 yes i have lol
@Aaron9 honestly miami has 2 known places south beach and brickle , which are a size of 1 street in new york city
I feel like NYC has so much more job opportunities and high salary’s but you don’t need as much money to live in Miami and there is so many activities you can do in Miami that you can’t in NY, and you can do them all year round unlike NYC because of the weather, also the Taxes are much lower
Born n raised in Miami
2.500 in Bogota would give you the apartment of your dreams, trust me.
NYC for the win!!!!
Expensive
Manhattan only
Do a comparison of NYC VS SFO - the two most expensive cities in USA
NYC vs. Boston!!
3:20 yea the Miami Beach is clearer than Hudson River that’s a great way to spend winter in Miami
NYC all the way 🙌🏾
@Aaron9 lol
Hailey is a gem. Great content with her!
Compare Chicago to NYC.
Parking is terrible in New York too so I’m not sure why he’s saying this would not happen in New York. Not everyone wants to ride a bike when it’s 30 degrees 😭😫😩
Parking in new york id’s 550$ a month how about in miami its free
I wish i was as enthusiastic as everyone else about nyc. I live in nyc and vastly prefer miami
I’d love to see NYC vs DC
Happy new year to ALL the community members of this vibrant channel, just wanna wish you all the best for 2022.As of Bretti, he is clearly on the ball 🏈 as usual.Cheers from Russia 🇷🇺 bro 😎
Just wanted to say Privet as a russian to russian
Transportation in NYC is definitely not the best in the world. Not compared to Asia. It’s way more efficient and advanced.
Best in the country though
As someone from Norway, I would DIE to live in Miami.
trust me, its not all that. everybody only speaks spanish, its very crowded and car-centric, and you have to own a car to get around in terrible traffic with terrible drivers who just arrived from south america. i dont have an issue with the spanish bc im fluent, but if you dont know spanish miami can be difficult for you.
Maybe LITERALLY cuz the number of times I've almost been ran over just walking in Miami is crazy
Don't die. Just move!
Tanguayplex Visitors in Tommy-Douglas
San Diego California next please
1:28 yeah and new york has both really hot and really cold weather. You don't know what's worse.
NYC vs ATL
I love both cities so much! I've been to New York seven times and once in Miami, two years ago, right before Covid hit...
God my dream is to move to Miami i from a very small town in Texas I’m 18 currently have 16,000 grand save up rn I hoping to move to Miami next year looks amazing great video bro u have a new sub : )
Might want to do an update on the Miami one bc you're paying NY prices here in Miami now
totally. This video didn’t age well and it’s now pretty useless. Looking to relocate to Miami and a tiny and basic studio is $3K now
@@gblade6804 Yep. Prices are insane everywhere now it's crazy
Where did he found the miami Apartment? Im searching since months and can’t find anything like this for such a price
Did you ever find anything? I’m moving in a few weeks and would love to tour something similar/similar price point
Been to Miami before and most of those luxury sports are like second homes to people up north. Barely any Miami natives living in them. Then low wages keep the real Miami natives across that bridge
Please please please let me know the name of the building in MIA? I’m moving there within the next few weeks and would LOVE to tour this place! Many thanks in advance and great video Brett!
I actually have left florida to take a job in NYC. Cost of living is basically the same now since I'll be ditching my car and my rent went up 1800 in miami and I'm making 40% more in NY. Bye Miami. G
minimum wage in NYC is 15 dollar. In Florida 10 dollar . but if you exclude tax you will get the same amount. Almost everyone gets minimum wage... so ..
@@viktore1375 Florida you pay more sales and property taxes. They get their money back
Another great video by Mr. Conti himself. I live in Sydney, Aus but I will definitely move to NYC in the future.
Miami is for Me.
NYC VS Houston Brett
You really have a white collar expectation of Miami which is not the average person in Miami.
That Miami apart was just one room ,no separated Bedroom.$2,400 a month seems high! I think your Manhatten apartment is a better deal, as it has 2 bedrooms .I think NYC has more diverse entertainment ,food, and culture ,plus public transportation.
Yes but you have to remember this was Covid pricing when everyone was moving out and it was a renters market and also it was sold as a one bedroom and Brett added the wall to make it two bedrooms. Also he said it’s a very good deal and Rare deal for Manhattan. So it’s not exactly apple to apples
I'm watching the second video. - I like it very much - everything is on topic, there is no water. Lots of food for thought.
Like. Thank you!))
She faked him out like in Greece lol
I love New York so much but this video got me tempted to move to Miami 😄
I moved here from LA in April 2021 and love it so far. The summer season was crazy but now the weather is swesone unsless it's to cold at night haha
@@arikristenko refugees if you move from blue state to red don't vote for same things
Please don't
You should do Chicago next
I own a 3/2 in Palm Beach County 5 minutes from the beach. My mortgage is $1400. It's a 12k square foot property with no restrictions. I could not imagine being in that small place for $2500 that will not make you any money. My home has doubled in price in 5 years.
We make way less in salary in Miami and the rent is really getting high.
i know lots of people in miami who use ebikes as well, its also gotta be somewhat better cause you just have to worry about rain and the roads aren't as crowded especially if you live in a suburb
Moshi moshi is the place to talk about!!! Almost 24-7 open for sushi
Am a Zambian UA-camr and did i just hear you say the first language in Miami is Spanish? That is very interesting to know? I am learning about America. The Miami Apartment is mind blowing man!
Woow... your Spanish is good Brett 😁
Don't go to Miami, it's hot, salaries are lower, if your not used to Latin/Caribbean culture you'll feel out of place and forget about Hurricane season, as soon as it hits, New Yorkers will run away immediately
the same salary. if you count the taxes! You cant swim in New york water its polluted. EVERY street smells like garbage with piss. Every corner has homeless begging ...
Do New York vs Toronto comparison
NOTIFICATION CREW 🔥🔥🔥
See you next Saturday!!🕺🏿🕺🏿
Compare NY and LA
Getting a NY salary and then move to Florida (not necessary Miami but South Florida in General) would be awesome. Born and raised in NY but sick of the cold weather and the summer isn’t really summer in NY anymore. BE lucky if you get a few days in the 90’s in a row in the summer and then for what? To go to dirty beaches? How bout Palm trees all year round, good weather and NO, its not 80 or 90 degrees all year round in Miami. In January is 60 and 70’s in Miami.
Maybe one week. 85 is the average, and March ultra hot starts until Dec
I went to the beach in long island and the water was black dirty
Why isn’t the summer in New York not anymore like summer ?
Love your views. You have gotten me through the last Year. Bless you.
Happy to be here for you, Avilyn
I know it’s not as sexy, but you should compare Oklahoma City. For what you pay you could get a really nice house and a couple acres of land. Imagine not having any neighbors and being able to do anything you want on your own land.
Your getting better brett
Winter SUCKS, I never leave the house because of the weather.
I’m in a similar situation with a COVID discount. I’m hoping that when I renew my lease that it’ll be as minimal as what you have, not that over a 10% increase is minimal, but considering how fast the market has changed it is.
So glad I subscribed to this channel!
Each city has its charm and downsides. I am more inclined to believe that I haven't realized the charm of NYC yet. Rude people, aggressive drivers, overpriced in apparently everything, unsanitary subway trains, and as you mention, heavy tax... I am not tempted to visit NYC again as a tourist.
ajajjajajjajajaaja man that is hilarious, I´m spanish and your accent is so funny
I'm in Tennessee you can find expensive places or cheap places. They are places around $500 to bedrooms water and trash included. I will say one thing look at what you can get in Thailand Philippines or Vietnam for that 1,000 a month you will be shocked
Come to London man!
Please make a video on how you snatched that $2.5k apartment in Manhattan!
I just started watching your video's starting with your UAE video. Your content is excellent.

Anchorage, Alaska please 🥺🥺
I dont believe that you found that apartment for $2500. I have been living in NYC for years and with $2500 all you can get is an studio or a tiny, ugly one bed.
when you renew next year, your rent will go up 50%, my friend
I love it!!!
Important question: where did you get the overshirt you're wearing over your cream hoodie in the intro of the video? All my overshirts are pretty dark and I'm trying to find some brighter ones like that 🙏😅
I enjoyed the video. Thanks for posting its a big help.
You're videos are super helpful especially for someone looking to move to MIA! Your buddies place looks awesome and close to what i'm looking for, do you know what neighborhood that is in?
that's the edgewater neighborhood.
I want everything to be in close proximity and don't wanna drive so New York City.
Honestly driving to walmart anf gind every thing better than shopping from an expensive store in nyc
7:56 it looks like a Chuck E. Cheese pizza 🍕 lol 😂
