    Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.

    Seems decent for small jobs for front yard and back yard. Electric is taking over, but for the real heavy duty gas / diesel is needed.
    Thanks for review.

    Oh yea... I will show that Bermuda grass who's boss now! 😎👌 I need this.

    • @johniv7406

      I had that in my yard. I tilled in the spring and spent a whole summer just spraying what came back with killer. Weeds started growing like crazy, along with that freaking Bermuda grass. Then I tilled again in the fall and planted a mix of Kentucky bluegrass and rye grass. About two years later.... That Bermuda grass was creeping in from the neighbors yard! That stuff is more of a headache than the weeds!
      If you have the time to spare pick through the dirt by hand after you till getting rid of all the Bermuda grass. It's worth it. An added pain. But worth it.

    Excellent real world demo. It looks like it had zero issues with cutting through the existing grass. Would you recommend this machine?

    • @arnoldsolof
      @arnoldsolof  5 років тому +11

      Yes, I recommend it. I've had it for some time now. For the type of uses the average homeowner has for a tiller it works fine. It is light weight, powerful and inexpensive. It has never overheated. I've even used it to scarify/dethatch my entire lawn. It can take a while to clean the tines if vegetation gets entangled in them. But that occurs with all tillers.

    I wish you would have till the grassy area to see if it would actually tear up the grass. I have used a sun Joe in the past in a garden that was dirt, and it worked just like you showed. But I'm wondering if I could use it to tear up a stretch of lawn that I want to remove

      It will cut through the sod. No problem for a limited area. If you need to do a 10000 square foot lawn it is the wrong tool.

    I have this tiller. You make it look so easy. I live in Texas and tried to till so I could extend my vegetable garden. My soil must we really hard and clay like here though.

    • @arnoldsolof
      @arnoldsolof  5 років тому +4

      On a flowerbed bordering my house the ground was very hard. It took much longer for the tiller to till to the desired depth. Although you shouldn't use an electric tiller on wet soil, if the soil has been previously dampened by a thorough rain or watering, it will be softer. If you thoroughly till that area this year, it will be much easier to till the following year. Depending on the tilling tasks you need to do most often, you might need a heavier duty tool.

    • @paulfesler7052
      @paulfesler7052 4 роки тому +1

      Get the soil damp and then add a 5 lb weight of some type to the tiller. Also you don't have to go fast

    I bought this...and I had cut the grass low before using it . It rained evening before and afternoon off. Tried it a few hours after the rainfall and all I can tell is it cuts the grass to small pieces. It barely moves any dirt! 😒 I did it exactly like this video...

    • @arnoldsolof
      @arnoldsolof  2 роки тому

      My unit continues to function well. Your ground must be much harder. As far as it "raining", it isn't just how long it rains, but how much/how many inches of rain. Some soil types don't absorb the water well, so don't soften as much with rain. Sounds like you will need a stronger tool for your soil. I have a few areas that have harder soil than the rest, but in those areas it just took longer to till to the same depth.

    I have a yard full of weeds and was considering this.
    But was wondering should I spray weed killer on them first to kill them.then use this machine?
    Then replant the grass?
    Just wondering what steps to take that would be most efficient.

    • @arnoldsolof
      @arnoldsolof  2 роки тому +1

      If your goal is to replace/redo/replant the lawn then yes. Hit it with the regular, short-acting roundup to kill everything .
      Wait a couple of weeks at least to make sure you zapped it all. Then till it thoroughly and replant. If you have a very large lawn it would be more efficient to use a larger more powerful machine. Check your vegetation killer for the recommended wait time before reseeding. I don't believe this tiller would hold up if I tried to fully till my 15,000 square foot lawn.

    I'm currently trying to expand my garden by plowing on contour. The plowing us being done by hand with shovel.
    It works but uses a lot of human time and energy and I was wondering if there is a more efficient way.
    I'm not opposed to using oil/gas to something more natural. Technique or technology to take either less human time, or less human labor, or both, than a shovel.
    Do you have any ideas?

    • @arnoldsolof
      @arnoldsolof  4 роки тому +2

      Russell,
      It depends on the amount of land you have to plow, how hard the soil is, and how deeply you want to go. The pattern you use (contour) shouldn't make a lot of difference unless it is a steep hill and you are afraid of not being able to control a heavy machine using a contour pattern on the grade of the hill. If the factors listed aren't excessive, the Sunjoe model should do the job. Because it is so light, it would be easier to control on the grade of a hill.
