- I GPS Tracked My Cats For 24 Hours. After recently letting Ralph & Tom outside for the first ever time, Ralph went missing overnight. I bought a GPS Tracking Device to find out where he went!

FAQs:
- Both cats are neutered, vaccinated and microchipped
- I’d love to put a camera on Ralph but that would be invasive of my neighbour’s privacy
- The collar is by a brand called Weenect. It was a bit temperamental, and we lost the first one (it had a faulty battery so we couldn't track it to find it), but the company were great a sent a replacement for free. Not sure I'd recommend it nonetheless. Definitely do your research and read all the reviews before choosing a GPS collar yourself
- The plan is to never let them out at night - it’s just once every week or two that Ralph doesn't come home. The catflap doesn’t have a setting where you can let cats in but not out again
- The collars are quick-release so they can’t hurt themselves. Ralph loses his collar A LOT. The collars also have bells to make it harder for them to catch wildlife.
The previous video “Kitten's First Time Outside” explain in a lot more detail!

Responsible!
Thank you for the wonderful videos. I personally respect the decision to let your cats out. Although it can be bad for wildlife, especially birds, I respect that you have taken measures against that. Cats have driven many species of birds extinct. I hope you cats stay safe, the outside world has cars. Good day to you
"Know before you go!" Applies to kitty cats as well :-)
Oh, and one more thing... You can buy cat doors that you can leave open both ways, lock both ways, or lock one way but open the other way, in or out.
I think it's really dangerous for cats to be let outside. Outdoor cats only live half as long as indoor cats, usually meeting sudden and tragic deaths.
My bf: why were you up so late last night?

Why do people let cats out without a leash wtf
@@lantaivo i agree its like letting a rabbid dog out in a yard with no fence its damgrous for others but for the cat as well becouse there increased chances of getting worms or any other deisiese infact thats a deisiese that if your cat contracts it your in danger and this is often found in any soils so next time you see a cat walking the streats with a gingleing color know that they probably have the potential for 5 diffrent worms 2 illnessses a respiratory infection and hidden wounds that have abscessed and become infected from unwillingness to be treated by the owners becouse they thinknthere cute wibble babber kitter dosent go fight AAANNNY THING
the artwoolf cats have been outside, unattended, for thousands of years. Many birds have gone extinct because of cats. Mostly, they can survive in the wild. That said, if you’re in a populated area with a lot of cars, etc, many people choose to leave cats indoors. But... that has its own issues. My cats are indoor cats. We have leashes. But they also want the freedom to explore alone, and may try to escape. One of my cats was killed this way. So while leashes might seem logical, cats are cats. And they’re gonna cat. Because they give no feks.
@@lantaivo they do it so that the cats can get enough air and excercise, and it is actually safe if you do not live in a big city. So its good for the cat

No idea. They have a greenhouse? As far as I'm away they don't have a cat, and the homeowners presumably sleep through the night and don't feed him. I wish I knew!
They may leave out cat flap at for hedgehogs.
@@HalfAsleepChris put a camera on him
If they have a greenhouse with mint plants inside, every cat in the neighbourhood would go there
Does Tom go as well do you know??
Catnip is a mint plant and other variants such as valerian root have a similar effect on them
If they leave out food for hedgehogs, it's usually cat food so he could be eating it
Bird feeders and squirrel feeders could provide hours of entertainment just watching them if he doesn't try to hunt
Enchanted Little Me maybe There’s lots of mice or birds there or they might be growing something like catnip in their green house and is trying to get to it. That’s what I’m thinking

I am so confused by the intended audience for this video. It’s like an adult video interspersed with phrases and jingles that make it sound like it’s made for six year old kids.
I liked it! It’s quirky. But...it’s kind of confusing.
A K The audience would be for the fun “people” amongst us who are still light-hearted enough to NOT take things so seriously and enjoy the simplicity of life that subtlety unfolds around us... most people take that for granted with their crabby, crotchety ways or they simply never slow down enough to observe it (😏we call them asleep) What he captured is that same feeling you got in kindergarten when it was circle-time🧸🍪📚🥛🎨It still exists in adulthood, but people have to get over themselves to find it; and WE JUST DID!!💥

A couple of years ago in summer my one cat disappeared. She is an old cat so i feared she had gone out and died somewhere since she had at this point been gone for over a month. Then another month passes, she comes running back hungry af. Never seen her eat so much in my life.
Now every summer, she will be gone for weeks at end before returning home for a couple of days, before going off again. We found out she spends all her time in the huge forest behind our neighborhood. When we are out for a walk in the forest we sometimes meet her. When she sees it's us, she will walk with us home, get some food and head out again. This only happens around summer times. We like to think she goes off on a vacation or two in summer like people usually do x)
Edit: Be wary of helicopter cat moms. Little haters 😂😂
My cat sometimes goes outside for 2 days straight and it mostly happens in winter
I think if I was a cat I would spend my time in a forest, it would be cool to climb up a tree and be hidden while watching what was happening below. I might even see a Sasquatch 😀
She’s a warrior now
kudos to you for being a shitty pet owner and exposing your cat to hungry wildlife, cars and psychopaths.

Man. You've got the most wholesome content I've ever seen.
Mystery solved: Even though you feed them, your cats still have an instinct to hunt and kill that needs to be satisfied for the cat to be emotionally OK. The long stays in one place is the cat on the prowl, waiting for mice to come out and the loop-arounds are the cat playing with the mouse before killing it
I would say yes, but if you've ever seen a cat play with a mouse before killing it, it's usually within a few feet.....not the size of a backyard.

@@peterbelanger4094 What a sad life for a cat to be trapped in someone's home all the time. Cats are meant to roam the neighbourhood.
The bungalows garden he frequents is clearly where he eats the kills he makes throughout the neighbourhood, but especially around the park. You think he's a superhero, but alas, he is the villain. Keep your cats inside kids. Native wildlife and cats don't mix.
I feel like we just watched a serial killer at night 🧐
@@flow5718 Haha yeah gorgeous little villains nonetheless 😉
A large number of house cats, likely the majority, don't kill or eat any creature other than insects.
There is no need to keep your cat in if you have no evidence they kill anything.
@@martind2520 Lol! Not where I live, and most cat owners are oblivious to their cats serial killer tendencies, Martin. I myself was oblivious to my Bailey's antics for quite some time. It's easy to be fooled by a devil as cute as a kitteh.

I'm not saying that house cats don't cause problems to the environment. I'm saying that the majority of problems are caused by a few cats and in those cases the owners will likely have seen the cat bring home some of the prey.
Most cats cause no problems, but a few cause a significant problem.
I saw that tapir by the camera. You should see if you can get cameras for your cats collars if its possible and see what's so interesting about the bungalow
the corbin show or hook up a GoPro on their back. 😂
I only recently discovered your channel, and I'm enjoying it.
WRT Tom and the guinea pig, I'm not surprised. One flat I lived in, I had a mini yard. My neighbor, Pam, had a French lop rabbit. It was blast watching my Maine coon, Miz Brat, playing with the rabbit, Edward. Cat even tried hopping like Edward, and Pam and I laughed a lot.
Abt the cat going out, crawling under a bush, and sleeping, common. There are records of cats sleeping 10 to 18 hrs a day.
I have a cat name Tom too. My father let him play outside but then he never come back. I was worried and do his cat sound loudly like he does.
It's been 3 or 4 months. My father said " he will come back, just wait". So, I'll wait and wait .
Every time we go somewhere, we look around the neighborhood searching for him. I hope he will come back. 😢😢😢
I've heard one trick to getting lost animals back is to set out something like, their blanket or favorite scratch pad. Or something with your scent on it(unwashed shirt/etc.).
Works wonders as far as i've heard.
Have you found him yet?!
My poor child after three or four months don't hold out hope. get another cat. pray that your cat will come back but don't bet on it.
@@bonniebellekalos318 , we are all well aware that these words mean little if in fact that cat turned out to have only been missing for a bit then caught and killed by something with more hunting skill.
lost-lost is an easier thing to contemplate then lost-dead, don't be patronizing for us being politely hopeful.
@@prcervi I am surprised that my realistic advice based on my experience of having literally hundreds of cats would warrant replies that have a feeling of vehement anger. My sad experience with numerous cats that turned up missing taught me not to be over sentimental. I still grieve lost cats from my childhood 50 years ago. When I think of my cats I could literally cry and I have even been chastised for grieving over cats. You never stop loving them. You just get on with your life unfortunately. I still say hurry up and get another cat preferably one that really needs you. It won't fix a broken heart but it will soothe it for a little while and you'll help another cat in need.

Ur production quality is exceptional, great job
Cat is a natural Hunter, even much better than dogs. They had high curiosity, especially at night, where everything looks so strange and catchy in the dark. So maybe he chase something (bugs, rodents, etc). and the other fact is male cat is more adventurous than female. They look after another female cats, you can compare it if you have a couple of cats. Male cat is easier to get lost.

I just love this story….interesting and hilarious…especially Ralp😂😂. Thank you for sharing in such an interesting and informative way. I ll definitely need a cat tracker as my cat loves to be outdoors for long hours
I'm more concerned about that single guinea pig. In some countries, its against the law to just have 1. They need another piggie.
This! And outside? Someone's gonna come home to a mess in that cage.
Ur suppose to watch ur cats when they are outside... this is why dog lovers hate cat lovers. Keep this up and your doing the correct steps to get your cats killed. Don't know where you live but in my area I've seen tons of careless cat owners let their cat out and there cat is dead the next day. It is usually coyotes being the main cause of death for cats in my area but two cats were once shot by a guy protecting his chickens, and the Hawks will kill the small cats.
It has nothing to do with dogs. Cat owners who let their cats roam outside are idiots and directly harming the local ecosystem with their inability to think. Should be legal to shoot the damn things, collar or no.
Yup also destroys the ecosystem
@@leadbelly1495 I'm not against cats going outside, I just want their stupid owners to watch the damn cat. @@clsmith03 People like u r the root of the problem. Since I've learned u can never change peoples mind with word look up Asia feral cat hunting and you should find a video where they shoot cats. If u don't get it after that then don't respond. You won't get the time of day.
Exactly this... Cute video, but letting your cats roam free like that is a big nope. Not only do they hunt the local wildlife, but it’s also super dangerous. Wasn’t there this one situation in the UK in the past where they thought there was a crazy cat killer running around, but it turned out it was just a lot of outdoor cats getting killed by accident? Just keep an eye on your cats...

It’s a really bad idea to let cats go outside. Even Partially our door cats life expectancies are so much lower.
My cats are both outdoor cats and are 8 years old and still perfectly fine. I even lived by a busy street for 6 of those years but they never went near it. They also spend the vast majority of their outside time in the yard anyways where we can see them. They would be miserable if we kept them inside. As long as the cat knows not to go near busy roads and comes back every night it should be fine.
Sasha Pearsall I’m happy your cats are fine, unfortunately many aren’t and statistics show its much healthier and safer to live indoors. Without going into details I’ve personally found a neighbors cat dead because of its outdoor life. And saw another become diseased and increasingly sick. If you raise cats from kittenhood outdoors it can be hard to convince them to stay in. But oppositely my strictly indoor cat is terrified of outdoors and will never attempt to leave the house.
