    most of my generation ( baby boomers) of Welsh farming stock learn't to drive on one of these progressing to a 135 which is the same thing on steroids. Age 12 I would frequent a local dealers yard during my school lunch hour ,making a real nuisance of my self trying to buy a ticket up from the many dead T20s in the field beyond the dealers yard. This dealer had switched to International but was taking in Ferguson's from his established customer base fist selling the B250,then the 275 and the B414. I think the poor starting of the FE35 made it an easy choose but by the time the improved ,MF 3 cylinder appeared many had defected but I am sure some returned to the fold as the 35/135 was a far better all round tractor for hill farmers of the time. All though I did'nt know all the Ferguson models ,among the old tractors in that dealers dump field in1964 stood O now realise were :- Ford 9Ns some on steels in Fergusoon Browns, UK T20 continentals, P 3 conversions ,Early fordsons pre 1923, continentals, later prewar fordsons, and other lesser makes from a by gone age. The dealer I think spoke to my uncle and I did not get a £10 fixer up of my own untill1977.

    Great video. I don't understand the Petrol / TVO set up. Could you explain please? So you start on petrol? start on TVO? run on TVO? Any chance an expert on here could help explain?

    • @fazlast
      @fazlast  27 днів тому

      @@hungrywolffilms You start on petrol, then when engine is warm you switch to TVO. Because TVO was a basically oil. So if the engine was cold it would never start on oil that’s why you need petrol. Petrol heats the engine up then once the exhaust manifold is warm you can switch to TVO. When you turn the tractor off you have to turn the fuel tap off first so it burn all the TVO in the carb. Because if you don’t burn all the fuel when you turn it off, it won’t start again on TVO. The only reason why tractors used TVO back in the day was because it was cheaper than petrol and diesel engines were only then becoming a thing. You can run these tractors on petrol if you take the heat shield off the exhaust manifold. I always ran mine on petrol never had any problem.

    Hi do you think it’s possible to run this engine with ethanol?

    • @fazlast
      @fazlast  Рік тому +1

      Probably. People run these tractors on anything. I’ve seen some run it on old engine oil and diesel. There’s nothing that they can’t handle.

      Yes it used to be a really slow starter. But this was when I first got this tractor. It had been sat in a barn for 30 years so I had to hot wire ignition to start it. But it’s got loads of new parts now and goes like the wind. But thanks for watching

    2 seconds into the video a round two piece container is seen above the steering linkage, what is that? Filter housing?
    I got a tef20 diesel and that part was left open so rainwater came in thats why im wondering what its for. I havent tried starting it because of that

    • @fazlast
      @fazlast  3 місяці тому

      It’s a really old air filter system. There is a mesh grill on my dash board that has a pipe connecting it to the filter that’s where it sucks air in. The filter should have some oil in the bottom of it. Then there is another part which connects the filter to the carburettor. The oil acts like a filter to stop sediment being sucked into the engine. The TEF would be similar or if not the same. Should be fine to start with out it just make sure nothing gets sucked into the engine(e.g. cobwebs, bolts, etc) . I have used a dirt bike air filter on my carb before makes it a bit easier and less hassle. But yours being diesel it would be a bit different.

      Okey, yeah I'll make sure its clean.
      All I know about my tractor is that it worked the last time it was used, around 7 years ago.
      What would you say, is there anything I should do or check before I try to crank it? I've never had a machine this old before so I'm really worried I'll break something hehe.

    • @fazlast
      @fazlast  3 місяці тому

      @@Slisktord make sure their is no crack in engine block. Check under the exhaust manifold they have a tendency to crack their. And see if you can turn the engine buy hand rocking the fan back and forth. Try put a socket on their if your can’t use your arm. If it gets stuck engine has probably seized and make sure you put battery leads on the right way. Some of these tractors are backwards. I once put the battery lead on the wrong terminal and I court fire. I was told if a ferguson has a dynamo the negative lead goes onto the positive and the positive lead is the earth. But if it has an alternator it would be positive on positive and negative as negative same as any other car. But other than that best you could do is crank it and try

      I believe the old MF35 is still being made for some markets (East Africa). It was imported into the UK under the Tafe name about 15 years ago - wish I had bought one. Still, I really love my 1963 MF 35x that still starts easily and does a good day's work.

      @fazlast  Рік тому

      You can do both I believe.

    • @MrEmiosk
      @MrEmiosk Рік тому

      You can, but don't when under load. The gearbox is sturdy but it can't survive hard abuse for long. Preferably try and match the "idle" speed of the next gear before shifting, if you get a heavy jerk as you re-engage the clutch you need to practice a little. But always err on the side of caution. Many have lost limbs and life to the exposed drive train (if all you are going todo is use unpowered wagons and trailers it will be less of an issue). Being kicked off the seat by the clutch acceleration is a risk if it has a standard seat (not a lot of backrest) and you do not have a firm grip on the wheel.

    Hello , I got a Ferguson TED 20 , this weekend I have to make a long travel with it (80km). What type of fuel do I need to put in it ? TVO , or just gasoline will work ? Thanks

    • @fazlast
      @fazlast  2 роки тому +1

      You mix gasoline/petrol with heating oil but if you are just driving it on the road you could get away with running it on normal petrol but you will need to take the heat shield off.

      @@fazlast why do you need to remove the heat shield when running on petrol?

    • @fazlast
      @fazlast  2 роки тому +3

      @@edwardmoore2649 because the engine will over heat. TVO engines were designed to start on petrol till engine is warm then you switch over to TVO because TVO doesn’t get hot enough to start engine that why heat sheild is there to hold the heat.
