I don't know about the rescues that mainly do dogs, but sometimes there are afterthought animals that get shoved upon them. I know they usually source them to a shelter that is more well equipped. So, maybe they went to a shelter that just wanted to get the rabbit out the door. Not trying to defend them but rescues have their issues too.

So here at the Armory I just brought home an 8 week old New Zealand that was about to go to the freezer, we are currently litter training to allow him to free roam in the office and living room.
To me, that looked a scary scene. It's on caster wheels, so they probably just push the cage around the room so the bunny has a different view. It's one thing taking on a rescue bunny, but another thing looking after it properly. I hope they realise that.
I cannot believe I am here an hour after this was posted! Love your content I have been watching since I was 8 and I am now 12 and finally getting a bun of my own!!! ❤
I'm ashamed to say it, but it reminds me of how we kept our rabbit in a cage out of ignorance. Not 24/7 as we let him free roam for extended periods of time, but my family's approach would have been much different had UA-cam and this channel existed twenty years ago.
Maybe since you just started making a bunny litter box his sister-in-law‘s gonna be the easier one to contact Lara. Maybe call and send a influencer package. Tell her that it’s for her brother-in-law‘s bunny and include a printout of proper care instructions. They did have guinea pigs before that lived a really long life for a guinea pig so considering there was a whole film crew there my guess was that was the temporary house, but a nice little PR package with instructions would be a good way to open a conversation and maybe get her to even do a video as a follow up since she’s a really big advocate to animal rescues.
Can you please do a updated video on bunny diet including a visit with an actual vet doctor and not only include small bunnies, medium-sized bunnies, regular size bunnies but also Flemish giants and what the requirements are for all bunnies after a certain age when they're considered elderly? Please I love your videos!
I know his sister in law is a major animal rescuer. I know they do adopt most pets because of her. I hardly doubt she will let it slide not having proper housing. She is pretty open to talking about animal welfare. So maybe everyone nicely ask her about it. I know that most of their pets were allowed out they had piggies before and they had a large area for them like an x pin. But it was about 10x12 ft looking. They have a pretty good name in the rescue groups at least Laura does and Donald , Sr host a lot of fundraisers for Lara(dil) Reach out and try to do an interview with her bet she would do it.
I don't imagine the kind of people they are would treat animals very well, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt here. Did they say the bunny stays in its cage or did they just have it caged because there was a bunch of people there? All if my rabbits /have/ cages for when I briefly need them contained for their safety, but they're generally free roam. I do think there is value to having a cage on hand, but I'm with you in that I definitely don't think rabbits should live in cages Edit: I think the most damning thing here isnt even the cage. Its the fact that there is no hay
Made me consider that you can probably gain insight into the treatment of others by the way they treat non-human animals under their care and vice-versa. I know that this isn't supposed to be a political video, but I think that same idea also extends to politicians and their ethics/policies....
Educate, Educate, Educate it is crazy how many people don’t know. Keep spreading positivity and educating making a difference. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ pet stores should educate people.
What me concerns is the complete absence of Hay. I think this bunny lives complete unhealthy. I hate it when rich kids get pets and just don't care about them. I'm poor and my bunny lives the best life!
Hi Lorelei I was so glad I found your channel as a first time bunny owner I was a bit clueless and unsure about how to care for him properly as a rescue and a single bunny but your videos have really helped me with understanding them better and my Ash is free roam all of the time he had his own room in our house which he can roam and binky around all day I would love for another reaction to your subscribers habitats and show you my set up ❤️
Hey Lorelei, how about sending Don Jr one of your Hoppers? Great advertisement, plus you may get a chance to interact with Don Jr and learn more about the rabbit’s behavior.
Earliest I've been and having that much money and keeping your bun like that is unacceptable some poor people treat their buns one million times better than that
Well we don’t know any more details than was shown on this small clip Hopefully cage is being used just for food and toilet or brought up just before camera crew came so bunny feels safe
We have 5 rabbits, three were born here at home from a rescue rabbit, she had serious health issues and we loved her for as long as she was able to stay with us. We have 3 of there kits and two Silver Foxes who we believe are sisters. They are both free during the day in rotation and they go to bed at night to sleep for multiple reasons as they are not all able to play at one time. We are moving soon and the girls will not be fixed until we move. We plan on building them their own wing of our new house which will allow for more space and we plan on building them an obstacle course to play it. They love to bixby and binky and our boy bunnie loves them all, even his Sisters (not so good...) so we do have to separate them and rotate free roam and play time.
You are so wonderful! I cannot emphasize how much I love bunnies. Your informational message is so important. So please, fellow bunny lovers, respect and follow her advice. 🙏 Thank you!❤
We have no idea if the bunny gets to free roam in the house. My bunny only slept in her roomy cage at nite. The rest of the time she had free room on my spacious screened in porch that she loved. Did her plinking and hoping around , had all her toys etc out there.
Oh my.. that's just something else... I dont know any other words to describe that.. I had a bunny for 9 years (just lost her this morning sadly) and I'm looking to get a pair after a few days of healing. The emptiness of the room isnt great and once a bun mom, always a bun mom. They are just such amazing amazing animals and when a bond is made, it's unlike any other, they deserve so much. My old girl may be gone but she taught me a lot about bunnies and I've learnt a lot from your videos as well. My old girl was a free roam bunny for last few years of her life and her overall behavior and mood shifted into a very playful and affectionate bun. I even got to hear a few honks from her 🥺 After seeing the change first hand and a few videos here on different cages and free roaming, I'm really not a fan of leaving buns in for long periods of time unless its absolutely necessary.
Dear Lorelei, please let them know how they can improve the bunnies situation!!!!!!Im not kidding...I used to be an English teacher to rich kids at a privat school, and the kids would bring the worst food you can imagine to lunch time, I had to talk to the parents about that!!!!! So maybe thats a similar case here, no lake of resources/money but lack on knowledge, let them know what a bunny needs plus: Thzey should make sure that the bunny has a companion, too. Much love from us!!
POOR BABY😢😢😢 My litter box is the entire size of his cage. I have a large rectangular bin. The kind that’s supposed to roll under the bed. I line it with puppy pads and throw in hay. No little bowl😅 LARGE handfuls of hay
This is an even harder watch that she looks like the identical twin of my girl bun that passed at the start of the year, and I know how tilted she'd have been cramped in there with no chance to socialise with another bun or humans. Especially as they will almost certainly have the ability to put over an entire room to a bun if they so wished 😢 Feels reminiscent of the bit in Succession where they are so clueless they feed their bun some bagel and then act with shock when its taken ill...
Thank you do much for this and all that you do. I love your knowledge and love for bunnies. I follow you and take all your advice. My bunnie queen 😂❤❤❤❤
In the defense of Donald Trump Jr ., I think he's like a lot of people who are under the impression that rabbits are cage animals. I, regrettably, used to think that myself. It doesn't help when pet stores sell cages specifically for bunnies, giving people the false impression that a cage is suitable for a bunny. As someone who has a rescued bunny, I appreciate the fact that Trump Jr. rescued that bunny. However, he clearly needs to follow this channel and get educated on how to properly raise a Bunny 🐰
When I had the rabbits in my childhood (way before Internet was available) I wanted to free roam them indoors, but they lived in cages my dad made (because no one free roamed bunnies back then. They thought I was nuts for wanting to) We also didn't know water bottles weren't ideal, and my mom told me they didn't need hay. I feel terrible when I remember all that. Anyway, I wonder if Donald Trump Jr just doesn't know any better. I think it would be really cool if you could offer them a makeover, and see if they would be open to it. 🐇
Hello, I have a pet bunny but my mom won’t let me keep it inside. There are rats outside I saw them and she knows they are there. But anything I say to try and convince her she will never listen and let me keep my bunny inside my house. Any tips on what to do?
Fully agree ❤ It really is still a new thing for a bunny to be kept for anything other than as food and it's fur. I would say there has been a boom in keeping rabbits as pets since the end of WW11. Here in the UK certainly there would have been food rabbits in small hutches in the garden and when there was no more war the bunnies were allowed to live! And the idea of buns being super pets for children really was born. Aristocracy loved anything exotic so it wasn't new to them. My bun, Snoopy is a Holland lop, pure white with blue eyes. He is a rescue, I am his fourth home, poor boy 😢 Just in his first year of life ! But his breed were "designed" to be attractive , good fur and possibly nothing more. As you said, we have yet to really know rabbits as we know dogs and cats for example. They haven't been in our psyche in the same way, we are just only now caring at all about a rabbit's feelings! I am a bunny mummy and learnt so much over the years ❤ the secret world of the Bun is fascinating ❤😊
In most cases, it's a lack of education regarding rabbits. Pet store's sell the Most ABOMINABLE RUBBISH for rabbits and try to make people feel good about themselves. I'm very unhappy that the rescue they adopted this bunny from, obviously didn't know a blooming thing about Rabbits. Otherwise, the adopting family would have been instructed on rabbit needs and habitat.
I rolled my eyes so hard at the words “Russell Brand” that I think I’ve sprained something… Totally agree with you, the lack of hay is a huge red flag and extremely concerning. 😬
well heres a little article on the don jr pet history i would assume he just got the rabbit?? i don't see any rabbit listed in their past-he did visit a chocolet rabbit factory with big chocolet rabbits maybe motivated him get one?
If it weren’t for Lorelei I would still believe rabbits are low maintenance cage animals. After discovering Lennon, i adopted all her tips for my rabbit. He is now 5 years old, and if it weren’t for that, he would’ve only lived for a year max. Seeing RSCPA’s guidelines still remaining unchanged hurts even after her makeover series brought light to how it’s not completely accurate for bunny care (hutches). I hope this bunny lives a long life and hope makes more bunny parents and expose ‘certain’ companies marketing HORRIBLE rabbit supplies/enclosures. Additionally, I hope this video reaches more of an audience especially since this video contains many controversial people within it. Could bring much needed traction to bunny lives.
Hey Lorelei! So when I first got my rabbit I got him from my teacher who sadly breeds bunnies, I was new to the bunny world at that time and there were no shelters anyway. Every year I bring my rabbit to my old elementary school library to show to the kids because that’s where my old teacher works. I have tried to lightly tell them before to not breeed but it’s hard because I have a crush on her son and we are good friends. They bring there rabbits to the 4H fair and I didn’t really trust that because rabbits are supposed to be treated like farm animals so I just am going with them for the fair while my rabbits stay in there nice cozy room INSIDE another thing I don’t like is that they keep there rabbits in hutchs outside and I did that when I first got Willy 😢 then I found this channel and free roamed him inside my room where he became so happy. One year while at the library one of their baby bunnies they bred was very skittish and I convinced my dad to adopt him. If I ever do get another rabbit, I will adopt from a shelter and I’m so happy about my rabbits living arrangements compared to the ones I’ve seen 😢 but I do know they are good people I just wish they kept their rabbits in better conditions
I see a water bowl but I don’t think it’s filled :( poor bun doesn’t have any space! at least her cage doesn’t appear to be disgusting? I hope she gets some love too!
I think its very likely they let her free roam in that room. If they were that unaware of what bunnies need she would be in that cage in the garden. The fact she is in doors says to me she only goes in the cage at certain times like when they are going to bed or like on this occasion when cameras turn up. Personally I would have her free roam always but at certain times maybe they feel this way is safer. Also the love in their hearts to get rescue animals says to me they do their research and know their stuff 🙏🥰
I had a bunny, named angel, I miss her so much 😭 she was inside my room, but my parents said, she could only stay inside my room until she grows up, she was so sweet she acted like a puppy, but some reason not like one at the same time, like she was her own kind of pet, she then started to get bigger and bigger, she was a New Zealand breed, so she got REALLY BIG! One time in the middle of the night I woke up to chewing, she jumped out of her kennel and ran to her hay box, even though she had a lot of hay, she wanted to explore my room, I woke up and then she stood on her feet and looked at me, she froze for a sec , then she just stared at me whale standing and chewing the hay, then she new I was awake so she ran over to me, and wanted me to pet her, I was mad cus she woke me up, but she was soo cute, I couldn’t be mad anymore, she got to be grown up o my parents said we had to put her out side, I was so sad! We put her out side, and she was still so sweet, the people next to us had rabbits and they would come over and dig angel out, when she got out, if she saw us she would run right to us, but I didn’t want her out cus I was scared of her dying, one sad day, she was gone, I still am so sad about it! I miss my baby girl 😭 rabbits needs to be inside! I had rabbits before this who never went inside, and they were never as sweet as angel, cus when there inside you can bond with them, snd they will be safe! rip angel! or if your still out there, i love you! ♥️
I really think that those of us who love bunnies need to tell everyone and anyone about how bunnies should be kept. It honestly has only been the past 20, *maybe* up to 30 years that we have started to educate ourselves more about rabbits and how to best promote their physical and emotional well being. Rabbits used to literally all be kept in cages, and people did not think it was cruel. My husband's family had 4 bunnies when he was a kid and his entire family loves animals (they had 26!). Although I will say that based on his mom's description, despite the fact that this was almost 30 years ago and they were poor, she still kept them in larger cages than this one :(.... I really really hope they just put the bunny there for the interview or something and that it's not there most of the time, or that at bare minimum they normally let her run free but closed the door for this clip. While there's not any excuse for them not having done (or had their people done) the research prior to adopting a bunny, I still think we should first approach situations like this from a friendly perspective of education and not shaming. That's why we should all talk to everyone in our lives (that is interested, of course lol) about our bunnies. I mean, my dental hygienist asked me about pets while we were waiting for the dentist to examine me and I took that as my opportunity to talk about my bunnies lol. She was astonished that I let them run free, and she was probably 10 years younger than I am! So it's definitely not just the Trump family or just people who don't care who don't know these things. The first question she asked though was...."so....where do they....go to that bathroom?" I of course then had to describe litter training etc. lol...And I learned it all here from you
Amen to that! I had no idea rabbits could be littered box trained until this year. I bet the vast majority of people don’t either. 50 years ago almost no one kept rabbits indoors, let alone had them free roam.
Hey! I know i’m not lorelei but i’d recommend a rex rabbit! Their coats are usually easier to groom, and whilst are a medium sized rabbit, lack the health issues or larger or smaller bunnies or lops ^^
Rescues are my favorite breed. That aside, I have a Californian rabbit and he's just the sweetest, smartest little dude. Also, the ruby-eyed white bunnies tend to be overlooked at shelters, as well as solid black bunnies.
It's really annoying to see people get pets without doing ANY research. The frustrating thing is: you don't even have to read a book. It's a quick Google search. With channels like this one, it just takes a little time online to learn everything you need to know. I actually mentioned this channel while speaking to a rescue when I was in the process of adopting my rabbit and they said they love it.
I think it is horrible that that bunny has to live in that space and unfair. I hope to see more footage of their bunny and I hope it is doing well. I appreciate you not involving any politics within this video, it makes me your channel very welcoming to everyone! Say Hi to Lennon for me!! 🤗
Mabe, you could reach out to Don JR and show him how to properly care for his bunny. I did a lot of research before getting a bunny. Being a high profile person doesnt matter. Many people have rabbits in small cages. You cannot be the bunny hero in every instance. I know you are passionate about rabbits, everyone does. I use a plastic storage box with one side removed as a litter box, this is my second bunny using that box. Sadly, many people only think of rabbits like they are a hamster or other small animal. We free roam our bun, except in the evening. Ours gets out of hand at night and gets into too much trouble.
I've tried getting the HOP litter box, it's been out of stock for awhile. I'm going to purchase one as soon as possible. My lionhead is 2 1/2 years old. What happens when my rabbit gets older and can no longer hop into this particular box?

I also forgot to mention theres no hay and I noticed a water bottle versus a water bowl. What are your thoughts?
No water bottles no
i hate water bottles...
That, they need to add a water bowl asap.
Absolutely no to water bottles >:P
Water bottles work great for my buns they always knock over there water bowl so I have backup water bottles and they prefer the water bottle also the bowl gets so gross with dirt and hay leafs and stuff

Ya know… hay, free roam, water, legit litter bin etc
Great way to put it! 🥰

That bunny needs a bigger space 😭😭😭
How on earth is it that people take these pets in their homes without doing some research 1st on proper care. Thank you for shedding light on this ❤️

So true it boggles the mind how they do this, they are so rich as well you would think they know better.

They have a pretty good name in the rescue groups at least Laura does and Donald , Sr host a lot of fundraisers for Lara(dil)
Reach out and try to do an interview with her bet she would do it.
I do think there is value to having a cage on hand, but I'm with you in that I definitely don't think rabbits should live in cages
Edit: I think the most damning thing here isnt even the cage.
We used to keep our rabbit in a cage BUT thx to ur videos our rabbit free roams the house!!😊
Where’s the hay?!?! I have a bunny with that similar breed, that is an adult bun, she won’t be needing alfalfa pellets!
What me concerns is the complete absence of Hay. I think this bunny lives complete unhealthy. I hate it when rich kids get pets and just don't care about them. I'm poor and my bunny lives the best life!
Hi Lorelei I was so glad I found your channel as a first time bunny owner I was a bit clueless and unsure about how to care for him properly as a rescue and a single bunny but your videos have really helped me with understanding them better and my Ash is free roam all of the time he had his own room in our house which he can roam and binky around all day I would love for another reaction to your subscribers habitats and show you my set up ❤️
Hi lorelei, when will you be restocking the hop litter box? love your videos :)
Hey Lorelei, how about sending Don Jr one of your Hoppers? Great advertisement, plus you may get a chance to interact with Don Jr and learn more about the rabbit’s behavior.
Earliest I've been and having that much money and keeping your bun like that is unacceptable some poor people treat their buns one million times better than that
Well we don’t know any more details than was shown on this small clip
Hopefully cage is being used just for food and toilet or brought up just before camera crew came so bunny feels safe
I bet that tiny little cage costed more than a $40 x-pen
If you make a TikTok video about this, we can all tag him and make it go viral
I would love to design an ADU for a bunny 😄
I have tried to give my bunny a water bowl but he would get bedding, stools, and fur in his water.
I hope someone is able to draw it to their attention. One can only wonder how much they interact with this poor rabbit.
I love all bunnies equally 😊❤
Nice vid, you are so so right for the litter box and everything thank you.
All I can say is, I feel bad for that poor rabbit.
Oh my.. that's just something else...
Maybe they let the bunny out every day. I use a cage but thats for timeout time and a litter box. He normally free roams in my office.
I feel sorry for the bunny, but I can't help but find this somewhat hilarious. I hope at least this boosts bunny rescue
I remember warching the video and thinking about the RESCUED bunny in a small cage is just that they don't know how to take care of it
I do not think that rabbit lives in there. Where are the poops?
POOR BABY😢😢😢 My litter box is the entire size of his cage. I have a large rectangular bin. The kind that’s supposed to roll under the bed. I line it with puppy pads and throw in hay. No little bowl😅 LARGE handfuls of hay
This is an even harder watch that she looks like the identical twin of my girl bun that passed at the start of the year, and I know how tilted she'd have been cramped in there with no chance to socialise with another bun or humans. Especially as they will almost certainly have the ability to put over an entire room to a bun if they so wished 😢
Feels reminiscent of the bit in Succession where they are so clueless they feed their bun some bagel and then act with shock when its taken ill...
Bunnies need more space to move freely❤.xx
I purchased the Hop litter box, a little pricey but absolutely love it.
Thank you do much for this and all that you do. I love your knowledge and love for bunnies. I follow you and take all your advice. My bunnie queen 😂❤❤❤❤
ok so what I think is that theyarelettingit get comfotable but get so waterrrrr and hayyyy
Bundo the cutie boy Rest in Peace Bundo ❤
When I had the rabbits in my childhood (way before Internet was available) I wanted to free roam them indoors, but they lived in cages my dad made (because no one free roamed bunnies back then. They thought I was nuts for wanting to) We also didn't know water bottles weren't ideal, and my mom told me they didn't need hay. I feel terrible when I remember all that. Anyway, I wonder if Donald Trump Jr just doesn't know any better. I think it would be really cool if you could offer them a makeover, and see if they would be open to it. 🐇
Maybe they have an X pen set up in another room ? Maybe reach out to them and ask . Why not ?
I rolled my eyes so hard at the words “Russell Brand” that I think I’ve sprained something…
Totally agree with you, the lack of hay is a huge red flag and extremely concerning. 😬
well heres a little article on the don jr pet history i would assume he just got the rabbit?? i don't see any rabbit listed in their past-he did visit a chocolet rabbit factory with big chocolet rabbits maybe motivated him get one?
Reportedly, Clint Eastwood also had a pet rabbit.
I love you and I have a rabbit named hopper bopper smith and sometimes I call him my loaf of bread
Hi Lorelei! Do you know when the HOP litter box will be back in stock? My bun is is desperate need 🙏
Hi I am a big fan of rabbits I have a rabbit at home I think you deserve 2k subscribers lenon is sooo cute❤❤❤
Thank you for informing the public ❤❤❤❤❤❤ l love ur vids
The first question she asked though was...."so....where do they....go to that bathroom?"
I of course then had to describe litter training etc. lol...And I learned it all here from you
Amen to that! I had no idea rabbits could be littered box trained until this year. I bet the vast majority of people don’t either. 50 years ago almost no one kept rabbits indoors, let alone had them free roam.
I don’t see any hay or bedding in that cage to. Weird
Yay! I'm early!! Hi Lorelei! What breed of bunny do you recommend for a first time? I really want a bunny and idk what breed to get!!
Hey! I know i’m not lorelei but i’d recommend a rex rabbit! Their coats are usually easier to groom, and whilst are a medium sized rabbit, lack the health issues or larger or smaller bunnies or lops ^^
Whatever breed please rescue ❤ shelters are overrun and buns are dumped like there’s no tomorrow
@@elifearr5348 thank you! I really want a pet and I think bunny's will make great ones, even though they are difficult! Thank you! ^^
@@Bee-sq4nd yeah ofc! I'll try to find a shelter!!
Rescues are my favorite breed. That aside, I have a Californian rabbit and he's just the sweetest, smartest little dude. Also, the ruby-eyed white bunnies tend to be overlooked at shelters, as well as solid black bunnies.
You are ❤wonderful Loreli. I love you and Lenny. My newly adopted 💓 bunny is named Pika. She is so cute 😍
They live in a fricken mansion give bunny a dog/cat free room and a friend
Mabe, you could reach out to Don JR and show him how to properly care for his bunny. I did a lot of research before getting a bunny. Being a high profile person doesnt matter. Many people have rabbits in small cages. You cannot be the bunny hero in every instance. I know you are passionate about rabbits, everyone does. I use a plastic storage box with one side removed as a litter box, this is my second bunny using that box. Sadly, many people only think of rabbits like they are a hamster or other small animal. We free roam our bun, except in the evening. Ours gets out of hand at night and gets into too much trouble.
they could spare a whole room for that rabbit so why on earth is it in that cage
I don’t have a bunny because I can’t give it the room it deserves and these rich people cant give a bunny a 10x10 space at least?
I've tried getting the HOP litter box, it's been out of stock for awhile. I'm going to purchase one as soon as possible. My lionhead is 2 1/2 years old. What happens when my rabbit gets older and can no longer hop into this particular box?
YOU SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT! WE WILL LISTEN COS WE LOVE YOU AND WE WILL PROTECT YOU FROM ALL PEOPLE QHO HAVE NOT YET UNDERSTOOD DEMOCRACY AND THINK THEY CAN ATTA K YOU IN THE CHAT FOR YOUR OPIONION. YOU GO GIRL AND WE WILL ALL BE RIGHT WITH YOU TO PEOTECT YOUR RIGHTS AS BUNNY LOVER. ANYONE FEELING TIRED OR SICK OF POLITICS, COME AND TALK TO ME. DON'T ATTACK OTHER PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE AN OPIONION, THIS IS HPWEVER NOTHING ABOUT POLITICS BUT ABOUT EA BITS ND SHOWING THE TRUTH OF THE CONDITIONS THAT SICK PEOPLE PUT THEM IN. COME AND TALK TO ME.
Where's the HAY??? FFS! I don't have a bunny & even I know you need tons & tons of HAY!! Poor Bunny!🐰😢
Where do you get the hay because I’m making my bunny like a A rabbit attack, and I need it for him
