I have a very large and loud Horn used in boats that when I’m approached by a dog or human I don’t want in my camp I let it rip. Every dog backs off. I even ran a Bear ran off once. I take it with me when I walk my dog (always on leash). It’s hard to get far enough away from people nowadays. I’m way out from Q and just had three campers with ATVs and lots of kids park right next to me. They drove around and around till 10:30 pm. I had shined my light over there and heard the dad say, “who cares just keep going”. Parents are teaching their kids disrespect. But at least they will be gone on Monday I hope. 😢❤

Lindy, I have learned from living in Rv parks that many people who are also there have either mental health issues or drug abuse issues. I once had a Neighbor in a park that was constantly entering my space and ignoring any requests to stay away. One time she had her dog in the bath house which wasn’t allowed. I was there to wash up and mentioned the rule, but that didn’t change things. Then one morning, I was awoken by my dog who was barking incessantly. When I opened the trailer door there was yellow crime scene tape across my space and the road. Turns out the crazy neighbor I had been dealing with killed her husband. I had even gone to the management prior to the killing to tell them there were problems, but they treated it like it was just a neighbor problem. I believe it’s better to consider all aspects of the people you encounter because you will never be able to have a rational conversation with them. Best to walk away even if it’s inconvenient.

Anyway, no one should expect a lot of respect hanging out in Quartzite. I was tempted to go myself but then thought that I don't want to be around that grossness. I take my rescue dogs on drives up and down the Pacific Coast Highway and we're all way happier.

I’m gonna be 77 yrs old. Live alone in a tiny home. Miss driving. Can’t drive anymore. Only child. Single parent. Love outdoor and animals mostly. Don’t really go anywhere except drs office. Have quite a few health issues. But I can move. Lose my balance sometimes (no drs know why)..and I’ve fallen a lot last 2 yrs ( thankful because I haven’t broken any bones…just look all banged up and bruised up).
Only child…so I was alone as a child too. I’d play outside a lot. With my 2 dogs. Walked dirt trails near my home, think my wool life I’ve had to kind of pretend I’m sociable. I’m funny too. But deep down inside, I’ve always like my space, my solitude , the quiet…and hanging out with animals. Never remarried. No support. No help. Family and animals I always helped. Most little children and all animals I adore. But adult humans…not a fan. Some are very nice …but being I don’t get out much…I’d rather just hang with animals. They’re so drama …and no complaining.
Have many health issues…but just pain and lots neuropathy and fatigue. I’m talking fibro exhaustion. So I’m better alone. I talk to my cats and the squirrels, and the opossums, and the raccoons, and the birds…they get along..and they trust me…and I trust them.
You take care. Stay away from rude, overbearing adults who are noisy and whiny. You and Marley take good care of yourselves. Stay safe. Hugs. ❤️❤️🌟🌟🌈🌈🙏🏻🙏🏻

I always keep to myself, I never set up any type of camp outside my van, I stay in places that don’t really invite a camping atmosphere and I rarely speak to folks unless I have to.
It’s safer that way plus there’s little to no drama.
I would be careful if I were you. Yes, I agree we should be respected but I have seen more rude behavior than nice behavior out of the road.

People who need to live in a vehicle understand the full spectrum of what it takes and the need for self regulation, rules and respect to survive and find some safety and enjoyment. It if is entertainment or just another large spectacle like a concert or a festival then anyone can show up and the city comes to the campground. Yes you need some peace and quiet to recuperate. ✨I keep hearing Quartside isn’t the same, I honestly am worried about when all of the old-school are no longer with us, I think a lot of it is, that both parents have to work, and the youth are not getting taught to respect the elders, much less pick up a Bible, and then some like the lady you were discussing do not know how to read the room kinda thing, Be careful of who you chose as your pact, not everyone is who they proclaim online. The drug use has gotten out of control, not that I need to tell you, You are very aware of your surroundings, but times have become desperate for many, I’m so glad I’m a country folk in times like this, do what you are up to, and to heck with anyone who doesn’t like it. Be safe.✨

I was camping in N.H. a few years ago and a woman did the same thing! Came into my camp and sat down at my picnic table! There are people that have zero idea of personal space and general respect.

Hi Lindy, thanks for keeping it real, you always let us know exactly what's going on. I am sorry those people were disrespectful and rude. I totally understand your frustration. The older I get, the more I just can't tolerate disrespect. So I tend to stay isolated. And I enjoy it. I have my animals and I keep my human interactions to a minimum. I don't have any specific answers for you. I saw something on Instagram, forgot who posted it. But it said between an action and our response, we have a space, time for a pause. And that really made me think. ...I want my head space to be clear as possible. How to keep it clear, well that is a process for sure. Please try to enjoy your stay there, I hope you meet people that are respectful and not rude. Have a good week Lindy, I am rooting for you🥰🥰🥰

Hi Lindy, so sorry to hear about your experiences. The Bible tells us these things will happen the closer to His return. Keep the Faith! You’re a warrior!
I feel bad that you are having a harder time walking. I realize your health and age. My husband, who is only 62 has spinal stenosis. He is still mobile, can drive and do a lot still, but has pain and numbness in his arm and leg. He sucked up his pride and decided to get an electric chair to assist him if we are places he needs to walk, knowing he wouldn’t be able too and he wanted to enjoy things I like to do…walking in nature on paved trails or even in a mall for 2 examples. He is so happy he made that decision. He doesn’t use it all the time, because he wants to keep moving and not give up. Maybe think about looking into this as an option. His comes apart and stows away in my Honda civic trunk. He weighs 325 and is 6’2”, so it’s a sturdy chair, but not big and bulky like some you see. His doctor wrote him a prescription for it and insurance approved it. Praying for you! ❤

Good for you Lindy standing up for yourself. If not, people will crap on you in plain English, especially with seniors. The man with the dog had big cannolis to taunt you like that. He was a coward trying to get away with it when he saw you were alone. And AGREE 100% about the toilet thing. I would never agree to show how I tinkle !!! 🚽🥴

A friend of mine was walking home when she was attacked by a man who knocked her down and used his dog to threaten her while he began to assault her. She was saved by some people who happened upon the scene and chased him off. Be careful of someone you don't know who makes a beeline for you like it sounds like this man did. There was something off about him.

Good for you standing up for yourself. You are totally in the right. Your campsite is your domain for the time that you are there and can allow anyone you want to come into it. You are not required to let everyone come in as they please. I do hope your strength comes back. It is hard on a body to go through surgery and the downtime afterwards and it takes a great deal of time and effort to get back to where you were before. I am glad you know your limits and rest when you need to, just never stop getting back out there and moving after you have rested. Stay warm!

Rude, with or without dog, don’t walk thru someone’s camp site. Second all dogs should be on a leash if not in one’s own fenced yard or a dog park. I see Bob letting his dog run and talks about manners?
People just lack common respect for others.

I'm sorry this happened Lindy. Unfortunately, rudeness has become an epidemic. Sometimes just ignoring the offender works best with overly aggressive people or simply excusing yourself from the offending person rather than getting into a confrontation. Many people become violent these days. Your health and your life are what's important.

Good for you, I totally agree with you!! But the person who was sitting with you, that this woman stopped to talk, should have told this woman to LEAVE! I personally believe that this is intentional disrespect to American women of our age in America, especially by other Americans between the ages of 30 to 50 years of age. I don't believe in cowering down to bullies, period.
