Nice & buggy. I’m glad you mentioned wing length & proportion. Newer tyers often aren’t that aware of what the proportions should be. I helped judge an online fly contest with mostly novice tyers & beards were sometimes little stubs or extended well past the hook bend & wings were quite imaginative. If you have beginners viewing your channel, it might be useful to cover traditional proportions. Just curiosity- when is trout season in Iceland? You are so far north, I imagine that winter weather limits trout fishing (or regulations?) or can you fish year round in rivers heated by volcanic influences? In my area, there are is one tail water river where the dam is bottom release. The water is always open& regulations allow year round fishing in the entire state.

Thanks for your comment FlyTyer1948! Yes, I think it's important to tie in rather long wing and than make it shorter as I fish, often just a tiny stub of a wing works great but it depends on many things as well. I will note your comment about the traditional proportions. Trout season here normally starts by law at the 1st April and is until 30th September. There are very few places that have and offer a little more flexibility, so longer season into like October. As a matter of fact, there is one river called Varmá (Varmá means basically warm river) and the season starts earlier there because of water temperature. The Varmá river has some geothermal hot springs in it. Some people do ice fishing during the winter in lakes that allow that, but I'd prefer to spend my winter having some whisky, tying some flies and listen to Dire Straits or Stevie Ray Vaughan. :)
I really like these classic flies, thanks again.
Hi, thanks for your comment! Yes, I like them too and I'll be making more videos on them among with new and more recent patterns. :)
Thanks Ivar. Very nice fly. Very good video.
Thanks a lot Michael!

@ Lol. I do like Dire Straits, Stevie Ray not so much. ;-)
@@FlyTyer1948 I just mentioned SRV because I was listening to him recently. I play guitar myself so I have to kind of listen to his music. :)
