- It's not just n historic sky show for Americans in the path of the total eclipse of the sun. "It's a rare sight we haven't seen in seven years," NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said.
On April 8th, millions of Americans will put on funny glasses and look to the sky to see a total eclipse of the sun. "As the moon passes in front, in between the Sun and the Earth," Nelson said. While those of us in the path of the eclipse will marvel at the show, as day turns into night, NASA says this is also a serious scientific event.

@@MrJuvefrankyou don’t need too, but you should know if you look at the moon blocking the earth your eyes get blind, you need to wear special glasses in order to see what’s happening, or you could get your phone go to camera and see from there just be sure not to see the solar ellipse. In 3:15 PM the solar ellipse is fully done. It’s only for 2-3 hours meaning when it’s supposed to be sunny at 3:15 PM which is the sun’s time to shine, no it’s actually gonna be the moon doing the suns job. The ending period is estimated to be at 6:15-7:15 but at the same time that’s the dark time in New York. This is only for people who live in New York anyway so it’s not really that important if your NOT in New York. The reason why New York will only see the solar ellipse is because the sun and moon face ‘s the east coast of the earth which since we are closer to the sun and moon the solar ellipse is coming on us. There’s more I might have forgot or might not know but I learnt about this today and honestly I can’t even realize how addicted I was to learn this. Only important thing to be aware off is don’t look at the solar ellipse without SPECIAL glasses, also regular glasses don’t work.

An eclipse happens when the two luminaries (sun and moon) intersect on the ecliptic. We don't even know what the luminaries are.... The moon isn't a rock the Americans visited 6 times over 50 years ago.@@Noahcurve52

If the moon covered the sun during the eclipse, then wouldn't you see it creep up towards the sun like 20-30 minutes before the eclipse starts? You never do, though....
